The Vehicle Editor is one of the editors in Spore. There are three types of vehicles: land, sea and air, which can be military, economic and religious. All vehicles have three stats: Health, Power, and Speed.
In Civilization stage[]
When you enter the Civilization stage, you build your first land vehicle. When you begin the Civilization stage, you can only build land and (if you have a seaport) sea vehicles only of your civilization type. To unlock air vehicles, you must conquer 4 cities, and to unlock other civilization type vehicles, you must conquer a city with the civilization type you want.
Formulas and Stuff for Civilization Use[]
While creating a vehicle, each part you add will have various effects, increasing health, power or speed and will be expressed in percentages, depending on each part's stats combined. When you finish a vehicle and save it, those percentages will then be transformed into raw stats using formulas and used for the game. If you search for optimization in your vehicles, you'll find every formula for transforming those percentages into raw stats.
When transforming percentages to raw stats, Spore always round down the resulting values. For optimization, consider having a 5 multiple in each percentage for not losing one or two points in power or speed.

Advantages & Disadvantages[]
- Land vehicles: They will be your starter vehicles for capturing the first spice deposits, thanks to their lowest vehicle cost ($1000). Even if the lands will be the largest parts of your planet, it's a limit to be considered since they can't go through mountains.
- Sea vehicles: They may be your other choice of vehicles, great for getting the other spice deposits which are at sea, having an increased health and power, but also in attack range, able to attack a city without being targeted by turrets, and all of this for an affordable price ($1500). Even if the sea is flat (no obstacles like mountains), it will be only a little part, and you won't be able to attack cities without a connection to the sea.
- Air vehicles: Even if on paper they seem to be great for having no travel limits and double the speed compared to the other two vehicles, they cost far much than the other two ($3000) and can't capture spice deposits. Good for having fast units able to intercept & hunt other vehicles, unlikely for capturing cities.

This category contains various body shapes, some resembling the bodies of cars, boats, planes, and spaceships. There are also several other primitives that the player may use. These shapes require no base to be put on are independent from other shapes. Bodies improve either the ship's total speed or total health.

Cockpits[]
This category features several cockpits that can be pivoted. These shapes resemble the cockpits of cars, trucks, spaceships, helicopters, planes, and boats and include windshields and windows. Cockpits are considered independent shapes and do not have to be attached to another shape or a base. Like all other shapes, there can be more than one, though cockpits must be placed on the center line of the vehicle.
