The Pegasus-class vessel is used by the Nivenian Empire primarily to shoot down enemy missiles using flak artillery - guns that shoot shells designed to explode with relatively low yield before they impact the target, thus making fast-moving objects like missiles easier to hit, but at a huge detriment to their effectiveness against other large armored ships. This makes them great to have on the battlefield, but only to escort larger ships and shoot down missiles and never to directly fight enemy ships.
While the ship is almost invulnerable to plasma weapons, and has a strong defense against kinetics, it is weak against lasers and electron beans. Due to the nature of this ship's role in combat, it is unlikely that two of these would ever fight each other head-to-head. Still these ships are usually taken out by imparting massive amounts of momentum through thermonuclear bombardment until the crew of the ship is killed from the massive accelerations.
