The Imperial-class Star Destroyer is a 2600 meter long Star Destroyer used to a great extent by the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus, serving as the icon of the Imperial Navy and a replacement for the veneable Venator-class Star Destroyer.

The ship, like other Cyrannian Star Destroyers before it was designed at the Shipyards over the planet Cyroenia, and while it was originally intended to serve the United Republic of Cyrannus, it now serves as the ultimate symbol of the Empire's power.

History

Origins

Apollo, accompanied by various senators view the Imperial Star Destroyer's design.

The design of the Imperial-class comes from the second year of the Great Cyrannus War when designers of the previous Star Destroyer designs of the URC noticed the numerous casualities they were facing against such threats as the Confederacy of Allied Systems and the Cyrannian Grox Empire. They approached Apollo, the current president with the designs for a new Star Destroyer, one that would ensure the Republic's military dominance in the galaxy.

Apollo brought the designs to the Senate who debated over the design. Many seemed to want the Republic to have a more potent military presence, while others saw the design as too ambitious and expensive. In the end, those in favour of the ship won out and the final preparations in its design ended and construction began in secret high over Cyroenia. In the final months of the war, preduction lines for the Imperial-class increased while those for the Venator-class decreased.

Imperial Service

When Emperor Antediluvian declared the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus at the end of the final year of the war, the Imperial-class eventually came to render the Venator-class obsolete, though many captains such as Mortikran continued to use them well into the Dark Times. These massive ships eventually came to personify the presence and might of the Empire across Cyrannus, and indeed beyond.

Dimensions

A massive warship, the Imperial-class Star Destroyer generally averages about at 2,600 meters long (8,530 feet). Compared to most previous Cyrannian ships, this is a massive size which serves as one of the Star Destroyer's key weapons; phychological terror. Senator Guolivian once commented after withnessing the Star Destroyer that any attack made upon one would be suicidal.

Offensive Systems

The Imperial-class is armed to the brim with a lot of advanced weaponry, being a conglomeration of Mortalitas, Basileus, Republic, Corthrinus, Vartekian and possibly some Apocalypta designs. It's superstructure is doted with Tractor beam projectors and thousands of heavy, medium and light turbolasers. Recent additions to the vessel's armament include:

• Vortex torpedoes: Essentially firing mini-black holes at enemies
• Hyperspace missile launchers: Capable of firing missiles at lightspeed, such devices can annihilate entire cities, or on the higher scale, planets, bypassing defensive shields.
• Rapid-fire superlaser: Scientists are currently testing out a highly dangerous weapon, a rapid fire superlaser armed from the ventral hangar bay. Needless to say, such a weapon would spell the end of entire enemy navies.

These weapons are more than capable of cracking a planet's crust open in a single volley and decimating entire enemy fleets. They are also equipped with some of the strongest shields in the Gigaquadrant and often carry about seventy five individual ASP Fighters.

Trivia

• The Imperial-class Star Destroyer is obviously based on the iconic ship from Star Wars of the same name.
• They are Um2k9's personal favourite creation.
