The Terraforming Stage is one of the removed stages along with the Molecular Stage, the Aquatic Stage and the City Stage in Spore. This short stage would come between the Civilization Stage and the Space Stage, and the main objective would be terraforming and depolluting the player's environmentally devastated home planet, in a gameplay similar to Will Wright's early 1990 game SimEarth. It would be based on the theory that no civilization can reach space before autodestructing itself.

Reasons for removal are uncertain, but the concept of terraforming was moved to the Space Stage where it is found in the final game, suggesting this stage was so simple that it could fit in another longer and more complex one.
