Animalia Chordata Synapsida

Synapsida (Osborn, 1903) or synapsids are reptile-like proto-mammals. Many of them are warm-blooded and have fur despite their splayed postures and often scaly underbellies, strongly distinguishing them from reptiles and from mammals.

  • Pelycosauria (reptile-like proto-mammals that are not therapsids)
  • Puffballia (creatures which have no distinction between head and torso)
  • Therapsida (reptile-like proto-mammals with more traditionally mammalian traits, such as fur)
