I might have missed this, but what are the sources for the information on this page? --Daxx 06:31, 4 April 2006 (PDT)
- I believe the Gaming Steve Interview with Will Wright 2005, if not I'll have to look around again. -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 06:46, 4 April 2006 (PDT)
Tip[]
After you place an animal, or plant, to stabilize the T-score, you can then pick it right back up.
(Maybe it's worth adding somewhere?)
Genesis Device[]
From what I saw on the GDC video, Will DID use the Genesis Device to make the moon-like planet hospitable. But the impression I got was that it was a time accelerator, and it was the volcanoes that did the atmosphere. Is there any info anywhere else to confirm that the Genesis Device "[turns] a formerly unliveable planet to a planet that is perfect for your species with the push of a button," rather than accelerates time? i.e. if Will hadn't put down the volcanoes before using the device, would it have done anything? --24.27.192.110 20:08, 18 April 2006 (PDT)
- I realise this isnt really telling you what you want, but the way I see it it's called a genesis device for a reason. It could well be that the genesis device relys on the presence of something being there to begin with so it can take that and work with it. Im now really sorry I forgot to download that video, cause I remember loving watching that bit.
- Well we have it for download here (the GDC one) if you want to d/l it. But I sincerly think that it has nothing to do with the volcano. I think the genesis device is a supped up version of the volcano. A "do this instead of using volcanos and a lot of time" kind of thing. -- Mason11987 (T - C - E) 22:09, 16 July 2006 (PDT)
until this t value is correct?[]
I think you will be able to put colonies on a planet before you terraform it. I believe WW mentioned it in one of his vids. Sorry I don't remember which one though.
edit to last post[]
I forgot to say that im going to edit it now 68.52.74.98 01:43, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
T Value[]
I'm not big on editing so i'll just give a brief outline. Do what you will with it. When you use terraforming tools, you can move the littl red dot on the little terraforming window further or closer to the center, depending on which tool you use. You can increase or decrease the atmosphere, and the same with hot or cold. there are three rings in the center, and once the dot moves into these, it moves up a T (1, 2, 3). Once it has been raised, you must put a small plant, a medium plant, and a large plant species onto the planet to "stabilize" the T-Score, stopping the dot from moving out of the T Ring by itself, without intervention. Once three plants have been placed, you are then able to place two herbivores and one carnivore/omnivore, and once this is done, you have the option of placing three more plants, provided the T-Score is at the next level. You cannot exceed 6 herbivores adn 3 omni/carnivore on a planet normally, unless you have placed an expendable tool that turns the planet into a Wildlife Sanctuary. For every T-Score with the applicable plants and three creatures, you may add one colony, with the exception being T-O, where you may have one "domed" city, which has a force field around it. hope i didn't miss anything
Genesis Device[]
The "Genesis Device" contained in Spore is actually an expendable object called the "Staff of Life", which is received for reaching the center of the galaxy and entering the supermassive black hole, after your meeting with steve. You receive 42 of the items, in obvious reference to the meaning of life in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy And, no, it doesn't speed up time.
