The co-ordinates for storybook planets are unique to your game. I feel this page is un-needed as it is firstly unlinked unlike Storybook Planets and secondly the co-ordinates and planet/system names are useless to anyone other than the author. Dd7900 16:21, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
I wrote the above after testing the Kharcin and Corin systems. Upon testing the "Zeege (in the) Bellamon system (Angel: 197.75/Distance:14,192.14)" system, that has a different name in my game I did find the Crab Legs planet. Maybe instead of deleting this page it should be turned into a probability page of finding a Storybook Planet at the systems stated so we can establish if there is a trend or just blind luck. Dd7900 16:27, 16 September 2008 (UTC) EDIT: As I have the max explorer badge, 70 unique Rares and hours and hours of gameplay I find it strange the only Storybook Planet I've found is at the same co-ordinates as the one given on this page. Maybe if the author could let us know if the planet they found was "Crab Legs" or a different one it would help with the research Dd7900 16:39, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
I think the page should be merged with "Storybook Planets" and this turned into a redirect page. Either both in the same article or just one, having two is not handy. DarwinSighs 09:35, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
The information on this page is entirely worthless. It has been tested multiple times by many many people including myself and found that these coordinates are entirely random. In addition, this list of planets includes the ACTUAL PLANET NAMES of the storybook planets which are COMPLETELY RANDOM. The only thing that isn't random are the storybook planet themes of which there are ten; they are listed on Storybook Planets. By this page being here all that is accomplished is hosting inaccurate and irrelevant info on the wiki and misdirecting/misleading people who type storybook planet instead of storybook planets. If you guys really insist on keeping it, please rename it to Storybook Planets (Speculation) or Storybook Planets (Rumors). -- Dcemuser 03:49, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
It seems possible that 10 storybook planets might be scattered between anywhere from ten to many fixed locations so having a list of known coordinates that each planet has been at could be potentially useful. That being said, this article should redirect to storybook planets and that article should have a link to this one trying to establish if there's any trends.74.94.177.101 13:06, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
i've found storybook planets and got nothin before. i've seen Geers n' cogs on my moon! and stacked rocks, pineapples and even a tentacle on my home plane and don't get badges. even if theese are just decorations you can't say they're not odd. Delta1998

- If the homeworld that you evolve on has Storybook rocks or features, it still will not count as one. Even if you visit there with another empire, it just does not register as an "official" Storybook planet. That disappointed me when it happened the first time and I've had three like that now in my galaxy. Treb2466 19:51, November 23, 2009 (UTC)
Even if they're placed randomly, research can help us develop more efficient ways to find them. For instance, I've noticed I find one roughly every 250 star systems visited (my 483rd star system had my second one). Because planets aren't generated until the first time you visit a star system (there's mounting evidence to support this), it could be that the game increases the probability of inserting a storybook planet as your systems-visited nears a multiple of 250. Furthermore, others have pointed out that SB planets tend to be T2 (I have experienced the same). If I'm right, we can find them much faster by visiting loads of fresh star systems, and only landing on developed planets independent of beige "rare" signals (nobody has ever seen a T0 SB planet, right?). If I'm right about the 250 rule, go back and visit systems you've been to and do the same to those you would have seen around your 250th or 500th. Who knows; maybe it's every 50th system, or it isn't even numbered, and I didn't catch them. 84.28.65.123 19:38, November 4, 2009 (UTC)
Your theory that Storybook planets will be found, in regularity, roughly every 250 systems is wrong. There is no fixed frequency in finding them, it is random. I have located 55 in my galaxy and the gaps between discoveries has ranged from periods of looking at over 1000 systems before finding another, to being only 20-30 visited systems apart. With one new empire, he found a Storybook as the 3rd planet he went to! Also, more of my Storybooks are T3 worlds, not T2, as you suggested as the most likely kind. Of my Storybooks, 53% were T3, 40% T2 and 7% T1. Since T3 worlds are more rare than T2 in the galaxy, that means when you find a T3 there is a much better chance of it being a Storybook compared to a T2 (or T1) that you visit. Swirls Planet and other alternate Storybook types[]
I found a Storybook Planet that I don't see on the page, so I took a Youtube video of it and some pics to see if it's around here and it's just not on this page. Or maybe it's here and I just didn't notice. Whatever.

I have found this planet as well! Wormulon 19:24, September 7, 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, but why isn't it on the page? FNRKK 21:54, September 7, 2009 (UTC)
Perhaps it is an Unnatural Planet. Lol, it is like Planet Cattor from the Spore demo. Wormulon 10:51, September 8, 2009 (UTC)
No, it's a Storybook Planet, because I got the Wonderland Wanderer badge when I found it. FNRKK 11:46, September 8, 2009 (UTC)
So there are only 10 slots in the badge index for Storybook Planets. It's got to be one of them! 84.28.65.123 19:16, November 4, 2009 (UTC)
Two things I want to know... First, what is the atmospheric swirls? Some sort of Volcanic Plume? Anyway... Also, which storybook planets have you found? Maybe, just maybe it is rattlesnakes... And lastly, why does your spaceship look like the Grox's??? Nanospore 19:17, November 8, 2009 (UTC)
Yeah... and that looks like planet cattor anyway. Are there multiple storybook planets of the same type? Nanospore 19:03, November 23, 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, Nanospore, I have found duplicates of all 10 types of Storybook planets in my galaxy. I once thought that maybe there was only one of each type in an arm of the galaxy, but now I've found duplicates in an arm too. They seem to be simply random. Treb2466 19:39, November 23, 2009 (UTC)
- This sounds like a glitch, there should only be ten in the galaxy (i've only ever found ten, your lucky!).

- No, Wormulon, there has to be more than just one of each Storybook. Level 5 of the "Wonderland Wanderer" badge is achieved by finding 12 of them!! That would only be possible if there are some duplicates of the 10 types. I have positively confirmed each of mine by returning to the Storybook planet with another empire that has not seen that particular kind before. Treb2466 08:26, November 26, 2009 (UTC)
- Then I had better start searching then...

I did not want to post this info until I was absolutely sure, but now I am, because I've found and identified it twice (checked for new Storybook Planet in My Collections). The Swirls planet type is an alternate version of the Tentacles storybook planet. Maybe the swirls are meant to be a coiled snake? Anyway, I have now discovered 61 storybooks in my galaxy and have found that there are also other versions of Crab Legs (rocks look like a tall stack of pancakes?), Craters (block shaped terrain), Gear&Cogs (donut land formations) and Marshmellows (rocks are marshmellows on ends of forked stick?). The other storybooks have only one type, or I have not discovered any. By the way, I changed the topic title to show this info and open it up to discussion of those other types. Treb2466 06:31, December 17, 2009 (UTC)
This is exactly the same appearance of my Tentacles. See my topic below. Vlevin 07:49, June 30, 2011 (UTC)
Non-storybook Storybook planet[]
I visited a planet very Geary and Cogy... It did not show up as "Gears and Cogs". And for me, storybook planets do have the beige waves. The reason I know this is because I colonized Tentacles! Can storybook planets not be storybook planets if there is someone on that planet? THE "GEARS AND COGS" PLANET WAS EVEN T2!!! So many questions, not enough fuzz. (Or answers, too.) Nanospore 16:51, November 5, 2009 (UTC)
I found a "Rattlesnake" planet, but it didn't say that I found it! Perhaps the planet has to be T3. Otherwise, I have no idea.Jmacdonald3896 14:54, November 6, 2009 (UTC)
There are some unusual planets that are not storybook planets, you can list them on this page if you want to. Wormulon 18:17, November 6, 2009 (UTC)
The thing is, I have matched the pictures of the gears and cogs that I found with ones usually found. It is 100% gears and cogs. Also, I have been to tentacles, so I definitely know about storybook planets. Plus, I have done research on the internet and SPORE forums, and by comparing the gears and cogs with the non-gears and cogs, I therefore know that something is up. However, I cannot supply a picture of the planet, I do not remember where the star-system is. I would like to supply an image, but that is seemingly impossible. Nanospore 19:13, November 8, 2009 (UTC)
- There is another version of the Gears & Cogs storybook planet -- it has land formations that look somewhat like donuts. I have encountered it twice and verified it by checking the Storybook Planet icons in My Collections. I am going back to the locations that I recorded for all Storybook Planets in my galaxy and collecting pics to be uploaded here, hopefully soon. Treb2466 06:43, December 17, 2009 (UTC)
A fail-safe way to know if it is a storybook planet or not, is to see if it is in the My Collections section of the game. That will confirm it, or you can view the Wonderland Wanderer badge. Wormulon Talk to me
I too have visited a gears and cogs planet and not gotten the badge, but i found out that rares and planets are never fixed in location! I visited my home system and one of my planets had developed a new rare item! so in theory you could go to any system search the planets and then quit without saving and reload until a rare is found!
-they say it takes 70+ years to explore every planet in spore..... I'd better get started. 16:35, December 17, 2009 (UTC)Stallord_D
Will Wright (the maker of Spore) said exploring the Spore galaxy takes a human lifetime. Maybe its true, I have played Spore since the day it has come out, and I am still exploring strange new worlds, seeking out new life...to conquer! Lol. Wormulon Talk to me 16:59, December 17, 2009 (UTC)
I have found one too. here is the picture. Can we call them faux-storybook plantes?

Gears at home[]
I found gears n cogs on my home planet, Laccor, playing as my eggy. The bad thing is, you can't fly through the holes!--I am Twilight, Twilight the Wolf - http://sonicfanon.wikia.com/wiki/User:Twilight_the_Wolf 20:50, February 6, 2011 (UTC)
Tentacles[]
My home planet AND its moon were tentacle planets, but I didn't get the badge! 90.212.100.130 15:08, March 28, 2011 (UTC)
- It shows that your planets should be non-storybook. They are just something similar to special planets. 114.42.67.89 11:19, June 30, 2011 (UTC)
A Storybook Planet Without Its Characteristic[]
I have a Tentacles and a Creaters, but there is neither tentacle-like rocks nor big craters on them even they are counted as storybook planets. I haven't used any sculpting tools on them. Is the planet generating bugged? I'll add their pics soon. Vlevin 05:23, June 30, 2011 (UTC)

My Tentacles planet.

My Craters planet.
- Wooohooo! I've found a Tantacles of normal type. I almost missed it because IT SHOWED NO MESSAGE WHEN I LANDED ON IT. Either way, I know there are at least 2 types of storybook Tantacles. Well, still problems of storybook Craters. Vlevin 14:01, July 6, 2011 (UTC)
