Skeletons (often called bone piles) refer to the skeletal remains in the Spore series. Skeletons appear in Spore and Spore Hero games, serving as rewards to unlock new creature parts.
Spore[]

Player-controlled Angel Pod digs up a skeleton.

A creature approaching a skeleton.
Skeletons are primarily scattered around the Creature Stage and act like treasure chests, containing new parts for the player to use in the Creature Creator. If the player clicks on a skeleton, the creature will use its hands (or mouth or foot if it doesn't have any) to dig it up. Depending on their size, they will give different creature parts; larger piles correspond to higher parts.
Skeletons come in 4 varieties depending on the level of the part they provide:
- Level 1 skeletons mostly consist of a partial ribcage, a broken spine, and two humeri. They can be found anywhere, including low-level creatures' nests.
- Level 2 skeletons resemble complete ribcages and yield level 2 parts when dug up. Like level 1 skeletons, they can be found anywhere.
- Level 3 skeletons also resemble larger ribcages but have more spinal columns than level 2 skeletons and are mostly above ground. Many of them are often found near the player's new nest after migration.
- Level 4 skeletons consist of a fully exposed ribcage and a skull with a fish mouth (specifically, Slagjawed). These contain mostly the highest level of parts. The most noticeable areas to find these skeletons are in the territories of epic creatures, in the nests of high-level creatures, and around some nests that the player is required to migrate to.
Spore Galactic Adventures[]
In Spore Galactic Adventures, skeletons can be added to adventures as props or decorative objects from the "Static Ornaments" folder. These props come in five varieties: Skeleton Cluster, Skeleton Ribcage, Skeleton Spine, Skeleton Fish, and Skeleton Skull.
Spore Hero[]
Skeletons can be found in Spore Hero, largely serving the same function as they did in Spore's creature stage, providing new parts for the player to attach to their creature. However, instead of being randomly placed in the world skeletons are hidden in various places in the game, requiring the player to explore and search them out. To uncover them, the player must approach the bone pile and shake the Wii remote to emulate the action of digging up the bone pile before the part is unlocked.
Notes[]
- If all parts from a given tier have already been unlocked, then the skeleton will reward the part from a lower tier.
- If the player finds every single part available in the creature stage, all skeletons will disappear from the overworld.
