All creatures are magnificent; from the most harmless rodents to the most ferocious beasts, the tiniest insects to the most gargantuan of creatures. But, when it comes to magnificence and scale, none are moreso than those that embody the world - the Colossi. Each a physical god native to our plane, there are no "mere" or "meager" among their number for even the weakest and smallest of their kind can ravage life as we mortals know it. Some are protectors, others destroyers, and a variety of ideals and forms divide them, as they do us. But no matter how different, or opposed, they may be towards one another, they all share a common bond; they are the favoured children of our world and all, undoubtedly, are grand.

- Yhteosharaktí, last Lord-Magus of the Soheti Province

The Colossi of Koldenwelt are individual, gigantic gods who represent the elements of nature and the schools of the Source. Extremely rare and elusive creatures, their very existence is fundamental to Koldenwelt's balance.

DescriptionEdit

The Colossi are characterized as being physical manifestations of the magic schools they have power over, possessing a god-like control over their respective magic elements. Creatures such as the True Dragons and the Elementals are believed to be deeply connected to the Colossi, with some dragons and elementals possessing direct links to the Colossi such as being their creations or offspring. The Colossi possess darker counterparts in the form of the Simulacra, who instead of representing elements, represent more complicated traits of life. Colossi and Simulacra do not overlap, for Colossi are solely made of Koldenwelt natives. The Colossi are the gods of the mortal world, while the Simulacra rule other planes of existence.

All Colossi tower over a hundred meters in total size, with most currently living ones ranging between a hundred and two hundred meters. The largest Colossus of all time, Tritonomarth, was estimated to be three kilometers tall and fifteen kilometers long in total. Colossi are not "created", nor can one "become" a Colossus, and the ones who exist are believed to be chosen by the Source from birth to be manifestations of their elements. No more than one Colossus of the same element can exist at the same time. It should also be worth noting that the Colossi, despite being the primordial gods of Koldenwelt, are not all considered aligned to the world - some Colossi are malevolent and display destructive desires, while others display animal intelligence and are therefore completely neutral.

The Colossi are divided between Old and New. The Old Colossi are the elemental gods who date from before 5,000 years ago, and the New Colossi are more recent beings who were born following the death or disappearance of their Old counterparts. While some Old and New Colossi are directly connected (e.g. Korddraggren being Arddraigr's mother), some of them possess no relation at all (e.g. Behesanguis and Sanguapraegrandis).

The ColossiEdit

Old ColossiEdit

The Old Colossi are the original Colossi who have wandered through Koldenwelt since ancient times. Most of them have been killed or have gone missing during Caligaduro Provectus' reign on the surface, with extremely few exceptions.

--echoing, sonorous tune--

Infinitum was the Old Colossus of the Arcane and one of the oldest beings to exist in Koldenwelt. A direct creation of Isiris, its role in the world was to propagate the Source through it, with some ancient cultures claiming it to have been a personification of magic itself. A serene and illusive entity, Infinitum would fulfill its role through the entirely of its existence until it allowed itself to join the earth and be absorbed by it, merging with Koldenwelt and leading to the creation of the locations known as ley lines.

Venertimanoth was the Old Colossus of Fire and the progenitor of the Fire Drakes. The sworn enemy of the Old Colossus of Dark Siivhahzin, Venertimanoth died after his final battle with him due to severe wounds and a curse laid upon him by the Father of Linnwyrms, and since his death, the Fire Drakes have been growing less powerful and less massive with time.

A being as old as the world itself, believed by many to have been the first Colossus and the first creature in the seas, Tritonomarth was a being of such massive size and power he was only rivaled by the Twelve Gods. Acting as a physical manifestation of the most abundant element in the world, water, Tritonomarth was the largest and one of the most powerful creatures ever born on Koldenwelt.

Wind: ConstarnachEdit

Accept wind's dominion.

Constarnach was the Old Colossus of Wind and one of the first true griffons. Said to have given shape by the flowing wind currents of the newborn world, the gigantic bird made a realm for himself at the mountains of the western Polar Lands, distrustful of the other gods of the earth and believing himself beyond their conflicts. He would rule as the lord of all wind until his realm was consumed by the Sanguinaries of Sanguine Hill, and Constarnach himself was flayed alive by the dreaded Behesanguis.

Earth: KorddraggrenEdit

Korddraigen
  • Magical Element: Earth
  • Alignment: Lawful Good

Terra est aeterna. (Earth is eternal.))

Korddraggren was the Old Colossus of Earth, representing the Koldenwelt soil's stability and fertility. Considered a mother of the Klaxxa race, Korddraggren was a benevolent and serene being, concerned with maintaining peace in what she percieved as her realm - which was, effectively, the entire Koldenwelt. Possessing tremendous power, she was arguably one of the most powerful Old Colossi, having control of all earth in Koldenwelt, even if she wasn't willing to use this control's full potential, as being connected to earth made her feel all its pain. Korddraggren was destroyed in the ancient times by the evil of Caligaduro Provectus, but left a descendant, called Arddraigr, who now inherits her domain over Koldenwent's soil as the Prince of Earth.

Lightning: RelanvadurEdit

Cannot die yet. Must energize it all.

Relanvadur was the Old Colossus of Lightning. A bird of prey of immense size, he once wandered through the skies of Koldenwelt, bringing with him great thunderstorms and electric discharges which could raze landscapes of life in seconds, but at the same time, he was also a being capable of compassion who sought to protect Koldenwelt from entities who threatened its well-being. Relanvadur was said to have roosted far into the skies, in a gigantic nest made entirely of clouds, and he only descended to the earth every hundred years. He differed from other Colossi in his time due to remaining separated from them and their conflicts unless directly affected them, and the giant bird's life went on until he was slain by Behesanguis.

Nature: EondrassiliaEdit

Eondrassilia was the Old Colossus of Nature, governing of the school of floramancy. A tree of titanic size, whose branches were said to pierce the sky and whose roots were claimed to dig enough to reach the world's center, it is often said to have been the creator of all non-sapient lifeforms at the dawn of Koldenwelt. It was ultimately torn from its foundations and destroyed sometime before recorded history, though a shade of it survives to this day in the realm known as the Garden of the Gods.

Poison: TeratomaEdit

Teratoma
  • Magical Element: Poison
  • Alignment: True Neutral
  • Status: Deceased

*crying screeching*

Teratoma was the Old Colossus of Poison. Two beings in one, Teratoma's true consciousness was concentrated in a mushroom tower covered in moss which had grown into the back of an immense arachnid monstrosity hundreds of thousands of years ago. As the old world's main beacon of venomancy, Teratoma's mere presence was enough to poison the very land beneath him, bringing terrible plagues and diseases along the way and turning his victims morbidly sick, all while spreading terrible toxic spores which could grow into whole forests of venomous mushrooms. Despite this terrible power, though, Teratoma himself was not a malevolent entity. Greatly lamenting his own existence and the fact he could not stop the destruction he created, he found himself forced to be exiled from populous areas due to the danger he opposed, even though he wanted to aid the rest of the Colossi in their way against the forces of the Void. Grief eventually dominated the great fungus' mind, and he ended his own life by jumping into the sea, sinking, drowning and killing off millions of fish in the process.

Sand: AthinyerasEdit

Sihilienu was the Old Colossus of Light, and the first of the Enuisi. Sihilienu was an enigmatic creature of no discernible likeness to beings of Koldenwelt and roamed the distant skies of the planet far from the other Colossi in a constant peaceful voyage. The Colossus of Light's end came as it was attacked and left for dead by the dragon form of Caligaduro Provectus, causing it to die slowly in agony over the course of many days. The Enuisi race was said to have been born from Sihilienu's corpse after it died.

Dark: SiivhahzinEdit

All of my life is dedicated to your suffering. All of my existence is justified by your pained screams of terror!

Siivhahzin was the Old Colossus of Dark and the original Linnwyrm of Koldenwelt. An entity of pure darkness, consumed by an irrational distaste for the world, Siivhahzin sought to destroy it and make all of its inhabitants suffer the most possible by engulfing it in eternal darkness. Displaying a direct hatred for all Kelodhros, the Father of Linnwyrms decided that, if he had no right for things like wings, legs and a whole race of companions, then the entire world would not have them either. Siivhahzin was the sworn energy of Venertimanoth, the Old Colossus of Fire, and the terrible Linnwyrm eventually met his destruction at the claws of the former, but not before cursing him and the entire Fire Drake race to a slow and painful demise.

The vast darkness of the universe is illuminated by the great sun of Aúr. I bring this light to Isiris as its herald.

Aursorhataran was the Old Colossus of the Sun and thus far the only Colossus of the Sun, and the progenitor apparent of the Sun Drakes. Created by Soldalatel to assist in the metaphysical construction of Koldenwelt, Aursorhataran along with Nalúnt ruled over the north and south of Koldenwelt. Aursorhataran was eventually destroyed by Caligaduro Provectus, ripped apart by the Simulacrum in its bare hands.

New ColossiEdit

The New Colossi are the Colossi who were born following Caligaduro Provectus' imprisonment 5,000 years in the past. Their origins, like the Old Colossi's, are varied. Wind: EmryredinEdit

Emryredin
  • Magical Element: Wind
  • Alignment: Neutral Good
  • Status: Alive

Without trust, the world and its currents come to a halt.

Emryredin is the New Colossus of Wind and the first of the wild griffons. Hatched from a long-forgotten egg buried beneath the Silver Steppe, he left a path if destruction during his birth, though he has long matured into one of the most benevolent and amiable of the earthly gods of Koldenwelt - a great contrast to the being whose energies created the egg he was born from. Despite being one of the youngest Colossi, Emryredin has secured his role in the world as a protector of the land, defending it from whatever it is that may threaten it.

Earth: ArddraigrEdit

Arddraigr
  • Magical Element: Earth
  • Alignment: Neutral Good
  • Status: Alive

My tempestuousness shall incinerate thy foul presence.

Arddraigr, called the Prince of Earth, was created out of the pieces of Korddraigren's body preserved by the ancient Klaxxa and seeded in the volcanic caves of Ar-Klith, and as such inherits her power over the Koldenwelti soil - but not her stoic and serene nature. Representing the earth's fury and power, Arddraigr is far more quick to act, and controls more violent aspects of earth - as such, his body is formed from magma and molten metal and radiates a fiery aura. Still, Arddraigr is a being fighting on the side of good, and much like his mother he will go to great lengths to protect Koldenwelt and its denizen from all threats. Arddraigr has been noted for its seeming omnipresence, having been seen all over Koldenwelt - from the arctic wastes of Gorthuron to the southern deserts of Abyssus - but always remains submerged into the ground. The reason for this is that he is still a young Colossus, and as such hasn't completed his growth yet. There are rumours that if Arddraigr will mature, he will become even more powerful than his mother - in fact, powerful enough to challenge the Colossus of Darkness itself - and, quite probable, banish it again.

Lightning: ThunardormirEdit

  • Status: Alive

We dwarves are as tough as boulders, as strong as rock slides! And I am big enough to be the rock slide!

Thunardormir is the New Colossus of Lightning and a patron god in the culture of multiple dwarf races existing in Koldenwelt. A gigantic dwarf wearing a great suit of white armor, a colossal warhammer and a titanic tower shield, Thunardormir lives deep underground in a massive shrine located at the northeast edges of the Tropical Lands, built thousands of years ago by legendary dwarf smiths, craftsmen and engineers who are also credited for creating the Colossus' equipment. The dwarf god's presence has been known ever since fifteen thousand years ago when he became involved with the ancient Dweorg. Displaying all the characteristic mannerisms of a dwarf, Thunardormir is a jolly, proud, boastful and fatherly figure for all dwarvenkind and any other being who is willing to coexist with them, with his shrine having become a famed location for pilgrimages through the ages. However, while he is very jovial, Thunardormir also represents the wrath of a thunderstorm, holding eternal grudges against those who defy him or threaten dwarvenkind, and shows little patience for those unwilling to cooperate with him. Very well armored for combat, the dwarf god is not afraid to pulverize entire landscapes and bring about terrible lightning storms to decimate anyone foolish enough to become enemies with him.

Almonohuim is the New Colossus of Sand and the ultimate ruler of the Man-Serpent race. A colossal cobra whose scales are made of thick sand and rocks, he has inhabited the Sea of Sand of Koldenwelt for over fourteen thousand years, displaying interest in the races who called it yet never truly interacting with them in a direct manner. Due to this, races such as the Merovar, the Ankhor, the Wranploer and even the old Sand Drakes have all come to worship him as an elusive deity with vast powers. Almonohuim himself is greatly pleased by the worship he receives, all which further encourage his great ego and make him believe he is grand and mighty. He is greatly believed to have created the Man-Serpent race, something the creatures themselves appear to accept as truth, and they all pledge their lives to servitude to the great God of Cobras for his ire is not to be provoked. Egotistic and prideful, Almonohuim will not forgive attacks against his ego, and will retaliate by unleashing the full fury of the Sea of Sand upon those who defile him.

And they have their reasons to.

A gigantic angelic figure, he holds the power of light magic and seeks to vanquish the power of darkness from Koldenwelt, believing the world would only benefit from the complete eradication of dark magic. Raised from a child by the Light Drakes, Lorchakim was eventually imprisoned by them inside an immense shrine tower known as Lorchakim's Shrine, where the dragons currently inhabit as their home. Benevolent but somewhat stubborn, Lorchakim believes most dark magic to be irredeemably evil due to brainwashing by the leaders of the Light Drake race, making him a threat to those who use the power of darkness for good.

I will protect this world, by whatever means necessary.

Draethos is the New Colossus of Darkness. Resembling a monstrous hydra, with each of his seven heads representing one of mortalkind's greatest vices, he attempted to force the world under his rule, with the belief that a world drowned in darkness was preferable to one fallen to the corruption of the Simulacra. His physical form would be shattered during a cataclysmic battle with fellow Colossus Thunardormir, though his spirit lingers on and his heads would each assume a corporeal form of their own, independent from one another and with various degrees of awareness over their relation to their Colossal origin.
