  • Hi Ghelæ,

Fandom is in the midst of a project to improve the SEO of its wikis by ensuring each wiki's top-level category (the category which contains all other categories) follows the {{SITENAME}} naming convention. You may notice me adding/tweaking some categories to reflect this improvement, but I wanted to give you a heads up and let you know that this change shouldn't affect how you folks organize articles on the wiki. This change will primarily affect search engines' ability to find content efficiently. If you have any questions about this, don't hesitate to ask!

  • Hello, I was referred here by Cyrannian, who said that you know a lot about fictional technology, and I would like to know how turbolasers and superlasers work. I would like a very technical description if possible.

    • You can always feel free to write pages about worldbuilding ideas like that. The worst thing that can happen is that other people don't engage with it.

I don't know what the most common type of sublight drive is, or whether most people even add that detail to their fiction, but everyone certainly seems to use some kind of reaction engine.

  • Hi Ghelæ

I'm asking some of the other wiki admins this same thing, but I'm curious if this community has ever considered enabling the discussions feature. Having a modern and easy area for users to communicate that is integrated into the wiki can increase activity and adds another reason to keep users coming back. Adding this feature basically upgrades the wiki from just an encyclopedia, into a comprehensive fan destination and a place for users to hang out, rather than just visiting the wiki quickly for some information, and then leaving. It could help invite fresh energy, new ideas and conversations, and help sustain the community.

Discussions will be a part of wikis on the "United Community Platform" that Fandom is in the process of rolling out, so it might be useful to have this wiki's users familiar with the system, before we all move into the new platform.

If you'd like, I could enable this feature for the wiki and it could possibly encourage new editors to join (or old ones to return). Let me know. You can find more information about it at these links:

  • Hi Ghelæ,

I thought I would reach out to you, since you are one of the most recently-active administrators here.

I am this wiki's new Wiki Manager. I am here on behalf of Fandom to support your wiki's community, help it grow and thrive and act as a liaison between you, and full-time staff. If you, or any other users of this wiki ever have an issue or question related to editing, templates, wiki design, or Fandom policies etc. please feel free to contact me on my message wall, and I will assist in any way I can. I have already made a forum post to introduce myself to the wiki community, and have also joined the wiki's Discord server, so I can be even more accessible to users.

  • Basically, there are many users that simply mention and briefly describe their creatures in the pages of the planets they live in, without making them their own pages; while others use the fiction empire infobox instead of the creature infobox. I was wondering if there was a way of classifying those creatures without affecting the aestethic of the page (just in case the owners of the pages don't like a creature infobox being randomly placed in them).

  • OK, so Opdagon posted this thing. Does it count as pornography?

    • The "cannon-like structure" follows on from "the other pair being testes" (2 of the legs) in the same sentence, so that seems to be the implication. And yet the pair of legs look like legs and the cannon isn't explicitly written to be what seems to be implied.

I'd say it is still only Sporn if you want to read it as such. But it takes some decompression to do that, and probably not a glance.

  • Ghelæ, I'm currently having a debate with Opdagon (again) about the family Nanofuria and its members, but we can't get to an agreement. If you don't have something more important to do, could you please help us settle this down? Thank you in advance.
