On IRC, there has been discussion about short fiction pages (in any fiction-related namespace) - i.e. fiction pages consisting of little more than a short paragraph and/or an infobox - and it is clear that we need an official policy or ruleset so that users know how these pages should be dealt with should they arise. At present, we only have an unofficial policy which seems to be that of ignoring them. This also extends to pages that have been marked with templates such as {{construction}}, but have since been abandoned for an extended period of time with no signs that they will be edited in future.
The main suggestion that has been put forward is that, if any such pages do not appear as though it is going to be expanded, we should have an official policy of deleting them. Feel free to express your thoughts on this proposal, or other proposals, here. Hostile comments or attitudes are not recommended. Ghelae - (talk) 23:05, January 21, 2014 (UTC)
- If pages are made and are not expanded in a set period of time (a week, maybe?), or if it's one of those "user makes empty pages then disappears forever" cases, then they should be removed. That's what I think. OluapPlayer - Hon hon hon! 23:08, January 21, 2014 (UTC)
- For creature/fiction/whatever pages, I agree with this; the page should be removed. As for older pages by inactive users with a
{{construction}}
template, I think that depending on how large the page is, either the tag should be removed, or the page itself. A completed infobox with at least a paragraph should be the bare minimum.-- Technobliterator TC 23:12, January 21, 2014 (UTC)

- I think we should only delete fiction stubs made by users who have been gone from the wiki for an extended period of time. Several months perhaps. Users should of course be encouraged to expand upon the pages that they made, but deleting them when the user is still active (especially if that user only intends to contribute to the wiki) is a bit extreme and may discourage users from editing here. -- - Cyrannian - Everything is proceeding as planned... 23:27, January 21, 2014 (UTC)
- That's fair enough. About, 3 months, or so? Anyway, the user can contact the admins, and request the page to be re-added.-- Technobliterator TC 23:28, January 21, 2014 (UTC)
That sounds like a policy proposal: after three months of inactivity, a user's short fiction pages will be deleted, and any longer pages with a construction template will have the template removed. If the user returns, they may request that an admin undelete any of their pages. How about that? Ghelae - (talk) 15:58, January 22, 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah, that seems fair enough. -- - Cyrannian - Everything is proceeding as planned... 17:40, January 22, 2014 (UTC)
Since nobody else seems to disagree, this has been added to SporeWiki:Rules. Ghelae - (talk) 21:14, January 22, 2014 (UTC)
