Animalia is a true mess. Right now, the majority of taxa could fit into already existing taxa, and there are lots of strange taxa that are blends which could be better explained as a Y-ish X. So guess what. I'm going to fix it down the orders at least. Any experienced volunteers would be greatly appreciated, and you can post suggestions here. I completely agree with you, I have recently been categorizing as many unclassified species as I could and I noticed that the database of Animalia is in serious need of fixing, I will help wherever I can. Also, perhaps we could incorporate complex relationships for example, reptiles leading to dinosaurs leading to birds.
