Andrews theory of possible human to grox evolution[]

It first started when man discovered technology. years passed by and our technology became greater. more centuries passed and the earth is dying because of pollution and radiation. as a result, we humans evolved adaptations. we grew different lungs that uses carbon dioxide and sulfur instead of oxygen, our five fingers grew to three, our feet became smaller, our overall size decreased and we grew aggressive and stupid. there was only one human left, Doctor Steve McDrell. doctor steve left the planet he was slightly mutated, he can revert back into a younger state of himself over and over. He cloned himself and confined the original him to regain control of earth from the fully mutated humans that call themselves the "grox". the grox found out and exterminated his clones. the original doctor steve managed to escape but the grox caught him and threw him in the galactic core along with the staff of life

Theories About The Grox, Humans and Steve[]

Reverend's Theory:[]

I believe that the Grox were a very weak creature to begin with, and by no means the first spacefaring race. I think they were probably living on some small planet, using simple tools to hunt for food. Then, one day, Steve’s race (I’ll go into that later), chanced upon this world. They were the only race they had encountered so far which used any sort of tools, and they were intrigued. Seeing as the Grox were forming simple packs, and moving in a sort of “hunter-gatherer” group (though without the gatherer aspect), they knew that there was much potential for great intelligence. They took all of the Grox they could, and labeled them arbitrarily as a noise often made by the creature, a sort of “grr” sound, which sounded like “grah” (please note, I made that up, simply for the sake of the story). They labeled them “Gra,” and separated them into groups. They put each group in a different situation, to see how they would adapt. This was all done on a small world nearby Steve’s race homeworld (which is also somewhat significant, I will get into that as well). There were twenty-six, each named with a letter of the alphabet. So GraA-GraZ. Steve’s race was scientific, and this was all done in the name of science.

Each group started with fifteen members, the size of an average group back on the homeworld of the “Gra.” These groups spent say…about a hundred years, always growing, yet never coming into contact with each other. They continually hunted and reproduced, and eventually there were much less creatures. Herbivores were more common, however, as the Gras were carnivorous and were in such abundance. However, the plant life couldn’t handle this shift in the food chain, and it began to drop. The Gras were numbering well into the thousands by now, and were beginning to come into contact with each other. One group, GraX, had over five hundred members, and hunted swiftly and efficiently. They came into contact with one of the smaller tribes, GraN, with around ninety members, and GraN was eliminated. Steve’s race observed this with much interest. Some other groups had come into contact, never consolidating, but always fighting to the death. After another hundred years, there were six groups left. GraD, GraJ, GraL, GraS, GraT and GraX. Each had over five hundred members, though GraX once again was leading with about eight-hundred and fifty. The food chain was semi stable, with more plants having evolved. However, a dangerous shift was always on the brink of occurring. Steve’s race (I’m going to call them the Watchers, saying “Steve’s race” over and over gets a bit umm…it just doesn’t sound as good to me) set up colonies on neighbouring planets in the system, and occasionally had to perform transfers of masses of plant life in order to save their prime experiment.

Then, one day, an event of great magnitude occurred. GraT stopped roaming the countryside and settled down, building small burrows for themselves. They eventually began to build a small, crude dwelling out of rocks, sticks and mud for their leader. The Watchers began watching even more carefully. They became more daring. One went down to the planet one day to investigate more closely. He left his ship in a small forest clearing and went to the edge of the forest. He could see them in the distance. They had fire! But, at that moment, he could see another group of Gra coming over a hillside. He became worried. About a thousand of them. It had to be GraX. They descended upon GraT, which had about six hundred members, and massacred them. GraX, with its remaining eight hundred or so members, began investigating the building. Their leader went to reside in it. As soon as he entered, all the other members of GraX went off to hunt-and where better than a forest? The scout began to run for his ship, but the members of GraX caught up with him first. He tried to fight them off, but didn’t have any weapons with him for some reason. They took him back to their leader, who ate the creature, and declared it delectable. He sent them back to search for more. They found the ship, a small simple ship with only thrusters, no weapons. They carried it back. Seeing as they had no knowledge of engineering or anything of the sort, they searched it, tearing it apart in the process. They did, however, preserve a small helmet from the cockpit. The leader took that, and was surprised at how great it was at shielding the sun and increasing his vision. He searched through the remains personally, finally finding a glove and a boot. He put these on, surprised at the fact that they fit. The only possibility is that the scout had created them originally for the Gra.

Moving on. About a year later, the Grax had eliminated two other groups. Two others left. GraD and GraL. They had each built small burrows as well, and were beginning to use tools. Due to the fact that each of these groups lived in different regions, they developed different skin patterns and tones. I won’t go into those-use your imagination! So, GraX had developed several buildings, and crude weapons. They had a very large population, around three thousand, and each of those Gras had a house to live in. The leader was still living strongly, and regularly went out on hunting parties, being very effective due to his mechanical boot and glove, and his great vision. In a few more months, the GraX made a great discovery. The same material which made up the visor of the helmet could be found in the ground! They brought it back to their village-type thing, and examined it. They tried hitting it with rocks, or the sharpened spears which they normally used. They managed to crack it a little, and more work began to yield small shards thin enough to see well through. They could place them over their eyes and their vision was increased a bit, (though not as much as by the helmet). They began to go on more scouting missions, eventually finding more natural metals. They concentrated on strengthening their buildings, and in a few more years, their buildings were all about the same as they are now. By this time, the Watchers were getting slightly worried. The Gra, especially the GraX, were proving to have extreme potential for power. GraD had destroyed GraL, and they were too close to GraX to survive for long. When the destruction of GraL did come, the Watchers simply reclassified them as the “Grahx.” However, due to a spelling error, it was misspelled as “Grohx” when displayed to the public, who assumed that the “h” was a mistake, seeing as it didn’t make the “ah” sound, whereas just the o sound did. (please just accept that without further questioning). This changed the name to “the Grox.”

The Watchers sent another scout, who unfortunately crash landed near the city of the Grox, though he was killed in the crash. The Grox, or at least the ones which had been alive at the time of the scout, recognised the corpse and the ship. They returned it to their leader, who once more ate the corpse. They then began to take apart the ship, not haphazardly, but methodically, wishing to understand why there was something else coming to their planet, especially twice. They found the technology which made it run, though no more boots, gloves or helmets. The one they put to use most was the lighting, soon discovering the materials required for that, and hooking it up in every building and street. They then spent the next ten years, painfully analysing the rest of the equipment. When they were able to reproduce this all, they had the potential to become spacefaring. They built a craft, modeled on the crashed ship, and put a Grox in it to fly it. Needless to say, without proper training, it was a disaster. They spent several more years perfecting it, meanwhile discovering more and more technologies. By the time they felt that their pilots were ready for space travel, they had vehicles of all sorts, computers, and they had managed to reproduce the implants to a certain extent. They also had created a second city, small but growing.

Their pilot was launched in a blaze of glory, and made it out of the atmosphere. He saw the other planets, and began to make a course for them. Along with the radio transmitter they had taken from the crashed ship, the pilot was able to relay information back to the planet. However, he saw a ship of the Watchers coming towards him. He continued flying, ignoring the repeated transmissions, and was shot down. The Grox were very angry. They put all their efforts into creating as many ships as they could, and when they had about five hundred, they focused on building weapons. After about fifty years, they developed the laser. Within a year, all their ships were launched into space. They went to the planet they had originally gone for, went into the atmosphere, and found the cities of the Watchers. They burned them down, then landed and began building new cities. All the technology of the Watchers which had been on that planet had been destroyed.

The Grox were now moving within their solar system, yet were not able to move between stars. They began to develop even more technologies, and after several hundred years, achieved an interstellar drive. The Watchers had built up a formidable fleet by this time, and when the Grox began to move to the star closest to them, they were stopped by the fleet. They attempted to make contact. No response other than a swift attack and boarding by the Grox. The Watchers were overwhelmed by sheer numbers, and their fleet lost. The Grox managed to salvage the technology, and now had the most advanced technology of the watchers. They found several files with reports and statistics centering around a picture of a Grox. They messed around with it, and heard an experiment head’s log. They couldn’t understand any of it, though the “Grox” sounds came up often. They made the connections, as they had become quite an intelligent race, and understood that they were the Grox, and the Watchers had done something. They began to plant colonies on nearby star systems, often driving out the Watchers.

However, back on the homeworld, ecosystem collapse was imminent. They had to renew their source of food or find a new one. Plant life was flourishing due to a lack of herbivores, though the Grox harvested lots of it for raw materials and an attempt to find something to eat other than other organisms. They eventually developed an artificial food, just in time to save their race. They could grow even more now, without the hassle of getting food from nature, and their colonies soon covered the planet. Plant life was still flourishing, when the Watchers, in another effort to stop the Grox, launched a large missile at the homeworld. It hit it, and shifted the orbit just enough to kill off all plant life on the planet. However, the Grox had always survived on less than adequate air supplies, and the change was just gradual enough to allow them to evolve to be able to survive. They thought that all planets should follow the example of the homeworld, and from then on, the Grox either only colonized planets which were deadly to any other organism, or they would make a planet that way. Within a hundred years they had a sprawling empire to rival that of the Watchers. They now refocused their attention on the Watchers. Slowly, but surely, they eliminated all but one planet. The homeworld of the Watchers, known as Earth, which was incredibly well guarded.

A renowned scientist, Steve, of the Watchers, began developing a secret weapon to destroy the Grox. After many years of trial and error, he managed to create a device which could bring any world up to pristine living standards. However, right when he was done developing it, the Grox broke through Earth’s defenses and destroyed all the cities. Steve managed to get off planet with his weapon, hoping to go and destroy the Grox, though he was caught. They held him on a prison in their homeworld, using the time attempting to reverse engineer the weapon so they could make it have the opposite effect. They began to move more towards the center of the galaxy, drawn by it.

They colonized all around it, still keeping their old colonies though, and they moved their official homeworld to the largest planet in the system closest to the center of the galaxy. They eventually moved towards the center, seeing nothing but a massive wormhole. They cast Steve into it, figuring that it would send him to a different universe where he could do no harm, after figuring out that they couldn’t reverse engineer the lifebringing object. They gave him a small ship, telling him to figure out a way to reverse engineer the object. He left, though he focused on figuring out how to get back from the place he had ended up, which seemed to be nothing but a small bit of empty space. He spent years working, and when he had finished it, he laid it aside for a bit and developed implants for himself so he would be able to live as long as he needed to see the Grox destroyed. He then returned, but he was sent back by the waiting Grox. Now, they wait to see if Steve will create the weapon they desire, and guard the center of the galaxy jealously, lest Steve be rescued and helped.

Ok, there you have it. I’m going to go back through now and separate it in order to make it a bit easier to read. Thanks for reading it, if you did. Any questions, just post it here, message me, or, you could always comment on my Spore creations xD. But, yeah, thanks everyone and bye.

For anyone who didn’t get it, the Watchers are/were human.

I didn't go into Spode though or why Earth is T1, the former I'll get into another time, and the latter I shall state here:

As for why Earth is T1: Global warming.

shadeofmoose318's Theory:

Okay, around the year 2163 on Earth, pollution and overpopulation had really grown due to the amount of factories and buildings being constructed, there was hardly any rural land left. Smog from the pollution began to slightly blot out the sun, making the Earth less habitable. In Spore Terms, it started dropping from T3 to around T 1. 5. Now, technology by then was incredibly advanced and we humans had figured out how to do some amazing stuff, such as cybernetic eye implants to cure blindness, same for deafness.

Now, our planet went through a global cooling phase, similar to an Ice Age. We as humans panicked, as we were pretty much already screwed, and used a state-of-the-art gravitational manipualtor device to try and hold our atmosphere. The device could manipulate gravity, so we made the gravity on our planet incredibly intense to hold the atmosphere together, somewhat. We were forced to use special generators to create oxygen for people to breath, and some people began getting lung implants so they could live off of carbon dioxide.

This incredibly intense gravity shortened the height of us humans, making us a lot shorter. By then we had managed to create a spaceship that was capable of going at warp speeds, as well as surviving through wormholes and black holes (long story, lots of dead interns). As our planet was pretty much sucking right now, we boarded the population onto these spaceships and left our planet.

As no more humans existed, the buildings and structures began to slowly collapse, and Earth began making a comeback. The atmosphere improved, but mankind made its dent-Earth was no longer the oasis it once was, only a T1 planet. Animals from zoos managed to repopulate parts of the Earth and trees began to grow. This is how the Earth is T1 and no humans are on it.

Now these humans, more specifically cyborgs, for we had becomed totally reliant on technology for almost everything, managed to find a wormhole and shot through it. We came out near the center of the galaxy, and slowly began colonizing and spreading.

The center of the galaxy, however, is a massive collection of magnetic and gravitational energy. The magnetic waves altered our cybernetically enhanced organs and derived us of most of our morals, emotions, and feelings, so we became cruel killers and murderers. We banded together as an empire, and stretched out.....we became the Grox.

It has flaws and holes in it and I'm still thinking of something about Steve.

ParadoxJuice's Theory:

My theory begins with humans after becoming a space-faring race. By this time in history, pollution has causen problems on Earth, bringing it to T1 standards. Luckily, humans can now colonize other planets. They begin to build colonies on the various worlds, but eventually, the colonized planets all drop down to T1-0 thanks to human pollution.

After exploring for a while, the humans discover 9 other alien (their names don't matter) empires around the place. It is a time of peace in the galaxy-no wars, resources are easy to come by for all, etc. The humans, wanting to know a bit more about the alien races, ask them to write down an explanation of their history, anatomy, and most notably, philosophy. This is how the Tablets of Prosperity, blocks of Chance, etc came into the galaxy. Its also how the 9 archetypes were formed (Warrior, Zealot, Shaman, Diplomat, those things). From now on, all newly formed empires would chose one of the philosophies.

But, this caused a problem. The alien races had contreversy and disagreement over each others philosophies. Wars started, allies were lost, pirates began stealing, and trade routes began to thin out. Humans, not to happy with all this, began to relocate towards the galactic core. Along the way, they met one more alien race, who spoke with the humans, and ended up not following any philosophy. This became known as the way of the Wanderer, a philosophy very few would follow.

The humans discovered that all the planets around the core were T3, rich with life. Their, they found another race, who were fairly weak, but had become skilled in technology. Their names do not matter, but for the convenience of the story, we will call them the Lyzer.

The Lyzer were interested to know more about the core, and the humans eventually decided to study it. The humans and the Lyzer worked together, sharing colonies and resources. But, like humans did with all the planets they colonies, the once rich in life Lyzer colonies began to die, and slowly became T0.

The Lyzer worlds eventually all became T0, and the Lyzer were angry at the humans. So, the humans designed technology that would keep the Lyzer alive. It was called the Genetic-Robotic 0-life sustainabilty. The humans made many different models, trying to perfect it. GR01, GR02, GR03, etc. There are no records of which model the Lyzer got, so they are usually called the GR0X, oftentimes interpreted as Grox.

While this was all happening, the humans studied the core. They discovered thousands of alternate universes. Each universe was roughly the same, but with some differences. For example, a once powerful militant Warrior race was, in one of the alternate universes, peacful Shamans. The humans also discovered a strange energy, which could somehow create life. They began to study this energy, and harness it. They created a device called the Staff of Life, which could instantly make planets perfect for survival. The humans tested this out on a few different planets, making small colonies on nearby worlds.

The newly formed Grox, however, were going through something tottally different. They found that before, they were weak, soft. But, with the GR0X installed, they were better. All of the 'organic' life that they were trying to maintain was only holding them back, and they began to hate organic life. They destroyed everything organic that they came across, which just happened to be most of the things they came across. They eventually discovered that the humans were trying to use the Staff of Life to spread life through the universe, to undo their mistakes. Needless to say, the Grox wiped out the humans.

In a last ditch effort, the humans created an artificial intellegence, codenamed Steve. It contained a small database of human knoweledge, and carried the last 42 charges of the Staff of Life. Steve was sent to the core, to wait for someone to come to him, so that he could allow them to spread life again.

A LIST OF THINGS THAT SUPPORT THIS THEORY: -When you go to the core, Steve mentions that one day, "We may be as one". A lot of chaos was caused when the different Archetypes were created, so the humans would want things to return to peace by undoing the damage that had been done by creating different philosophies. -Every planet that you start on is T3, and this theory explains why. -Each homeworld also has strange temples on it. These could be created by the humans after they went on to that higher state of existence. -At the beggining of the game, you will always find a T1 planet with ruins that was apparently wiped out by the Grox. These are the human colonies from before they went to the center of the galaxy. They are T1 because of human pollution and there are ruins there because of the Grox. Besides, those ruins do like kinda like human buildings. -Their are indeed multiple universes as described here, and Steve mentions them. To us, these multiple universe are actually the computers of the other people that play the game.

Sporesauce 95's theory[]

So, this theory... i have based it on how spore works and on everything i know about the Grox, and i put a little bit imagination in it, lets begin.

The Grox started out as many other spacefaring empires around the milky way, by being a cellular organism. They where are small carnivore cell called Gritex, probably with many jets or cilias. And they where one of the most dangerous predators in the sea. Sooner or later, they evolved a small brain, this gave them better instincts. They also started to slowly evolve larger fins, then paddle like limbs, and out of those limbs feet would evolve. And then they finally evolved into land creatures. On land they weren't as successful as they where in the seas. They had to crawl around on the beaches scavenging for eggs and dead early creatures, like Payer's. But they evolved and soon they had larger fangs and muscular bodies.

One day however a weird Spacecraft came by and it captured several specimens of the primitive Grox. The spaceship took them to another planet in a system 1.3 parsecs away from the Groxid homesystem. The one that had captured the Grox was no other than one of Steve's species (possibly Humans)! This "Steve" took a few of the Grox and put them in different rooms in her spaceship. The "Steve"(Meh gona call them Makers) tried to tweak the grox, some became weirdos that resembled Black groxids with weird rinkled eyes, and glowing sides. and others became healthy red or blue groxids. The Black ones were villainous so the Maker decided to tweak its brain and out it in a wildlife sanctuary. then the Maker turned to the two groups of blue and red groxids that where left. There was 25 red Groxids and 87 blue ones. The Maker decided to test these creatures. She put them on a perfect healthy T3 planet.

The small groxids spread over the planet, and reproduced quickly, due to the genes being same between the two groxids they where able to reproduce together, which created a new type of groxid, purple ones. The Maker was fascinated by this and decided to study the groxids even closer. Due to the population of the groxids, she decided to name the 5 large groups that had assembled.

group 1: GR.oX1 (Grokswon) mostly consisting of red and purple groxids they have a pop of 100.

group 2: GR.02 (Grotoo) mostly consisting of blue groxids. pop 78.

group 3: GRO.03 (Grootwee) A group with special turquoise grox, these had a specially developed smelling senses. pop 120.

group 4: G.gr41 (Geerforwon) A weird group of groxids with many different colors, they have evolved hard foreheads, and small bumps on their heads. pop 103.

group 5: Dp-0x (Drox) A special species of Groxids they are green and have asymmetric eyes. pop 56.

The Maker saw that the Drox had a hard time adapting and their numbers decreased very much. She decided to take all the Drox and put them on another planet. She eventually found a nice green planet where she dumped the Drox on. The Drox would eventually evolve sapience and become space travelers. When the Maker returned to the Groxid planet. she discovered that the Grotoo had joined the Grokswon. and the Grootwee had been reduced to a small group of 20. And the Geerforwon had grown spikes on their heads (The Maker made the groxids evolve very fast). She countinued to watch over the small groxids, she saw when the Grootwee eventually got wiped out, she saw when the Geerforwon became bigger and shr saw when the Grokswon/Grotoo group raged a small battle eatchother resulting in the split of the group and the birth of three new groups each one with a population of 50-70 groxids. The new Groups were called Groks, Gretoo and Garx. The Maker also saw that the Geerforwon started to use stones as tools! The Maker decided to leave for a few years.

The years passed by and the Maker forgot about the Groxids, but one day however one of her friends found the files about the Groxids in some old archives, He decided to pay a visit to the Grox world and prepared his ship.

He traveled trough space for weeks without finding the planet. And just as he was about to give up, he saw a small typical light that the Makers put up when they have started new life in a system. he went over to that system and he found the groxids.

He was astonished by the sight. the Groxids had put up tribes and they had fire! the Geerforwon that the files mentioned where no more as several craters witnessed of a massive meteor that had plunged right into the ocean, near the Geerforwon nests. the Groks, Gretoo and Garx however had survived by hiding and living in small tunnels for a few months.

Curious about the small groxids the Maker (the male one, the friend of the one who started the groxid culture) landed on a barren meadow near the north pole. He took a small hovercraft and flied over to the groxid tribes. He flew over the groxids and looked at them. He saw that the Groks where the dominating tribe, while the Gretoo and Garx had smaller tribes.

Suddenly the Groks tribe gathered around a small hut in their tribe, a Groks showed the others a thing that shined in the light of the setting sun. The Maker activated his Beam helmet and zoomed in on the Groks tribe, he saw what the Groks was holding. Metal axes! "Fascinating..." the Maker thought, "They have already achieved the making of metal tools, what else can they make?". The Maker flew closer to study the other tribes, He was surprised to see that the Gretoo's where lying in huts sweating and coughing, "The Whole tribe is sick?" Thats bad.. he thought, and went down to the tribe. He used a healing aura tool to help the Gretoo's And before the Gretoo's woke up he sneaked out, but he accidentally bumped against a totem pole he couldn't see and the lense of his beam helmet fell of. He didn't notice that before he had returned to his ship. But it was too late it was morning. He saw that the Gretoo's woke up and found out that they where healthy and good. A small Gretoo found the Beam helmet lense and it looked trough the red crystal glass, and it was suprised that it could see longer with it. The Gretoo's put the lense on a pedestal in the chieftains hut.

Later on that day, the Maker found an extra lense in one of his drawers. He continued to watch over the groxids, and nothing happened for weeks. Suddenly one day, the Groks started to arm themselves with animal shells and their new metal weapons. They wore though hides to protect their back, and used animal blood to draw a symbol on their shields. A horn bellows out its war cry, and the Groks heads for the Garx tribe.

Its a bloody fight and many groxids die in the struggle. In the end only 67 of the original 80 Groks stood tall (but groxids are actually short). The Garx tribe is almost defeated, with only women and a few children left, the Groks spare them and take them to their own tribe.

The Groks renamed themselves to Grob, and decided to pay a visit to the Gretoo's. The Gretoo's welcomed their relatives and they showed the lense that they had found. the Grob chieftain liked the lense and asked if he could trade something for it. The Gretoo's denied. The Grob went back to their tribe. The Maker didn't notice this cause he was playing video-games*. Later that night when the Maker was back to watching the groxids, he saw a suspicious Grob that was sneaking to the Gretoo tribe. The ninja Grob went into the Gretoo chieftains hut, the Maker heard a slicing noise and something that fell. Then he saw that the ninja Grob was carrying the lense!

The next day the Grob forged new weapons, maces and swords! They attacked the Gretoo tribe and slaughtered everyone...

The Grob where now the only groxids on the planet, they started to use stone in their buildings, and soon they had built tempels and several buildings resembling to the Grox Platz. The Maker though had already observed enough, he went back to the other Makers and gave the files that he had made to his friend, the female Maker who started the groxids. Eventually the GR files where archived and forgotten in the giant archives of the Makers.

The Grob however continued to develop their culture, and technology. The Grob, later renamed Grox by Maxis colonized their homesystem and got an interstellar drive. they continued to expand and they finally colonized the whole center. Then one day a Grox invented a way to make all grox able to live on T0 planets, this way th grox did not have to worry about all the pollution they caused on many planets. In the end all of their planets turned T0 even their homeworld.

so, thanks for reading, if you did... Sporesauce Talk page[[Special:Editcount/Sporesauce 95|Special:Editcount/Sporesauce 95 Edits]]

Brambleclaw's theory

The Gylox were a large strain of cells, cilia, spikes, and all, shoved onto the cell. They grew a tiny brain later on, developed some instincts. As they evolved tiny fins rowing their sides, they shrunk due to the cramming and having all the stuff on it, most was useless now. Then, about a few days after the evolution, a member of a thriving race, known as Humans, had come to this planet. He was surprised to see small, chubby fish(iMMA CALLIN THE GUY "the Creator). He pondered about what to do:

  • Should they become sentient?
  • Should I kill it?
  • Should I make a small adjustment?

He chose the first idea. It seemed more humane. He made an oversight, and made a list of subjects he should mutate:

Pair(Pr) 1: Gy.rxVejr(GuyerksVejur), a maroon colored species of Gyrox, as he now called them. They seemed to hunt in small colonies of 10.

Pr 2: Ga.ot55(Gahatfivdfeyv)

Liquid Ink's Theory[]

The Grox[]

In-game[]

Once upon a time there was a race of cybernetic, territorial gits. They hid Steve and the Staff of Life because they felt like it. The End.

My Fiction[]

Gar' Skuther was defeated. He was not dead, as was presumed. He fled to the Galactic Core and discovered a planet orbiting the Galactic Core. On the planet were two species, the Grob and the Xorg. These two species were engaged in a desperate war (Can anyone guess where this is from?). Gar' Skuther allied with the Grob in the war, and preformed expiriments to make them stronger. Eventually, the Grox were devoloped from the Grob. Gar' Skuther named his creation after the original species, but added an 'X' to make it sound stronger. His creation was prepared to conquer under him command, but a suprise attack buried Gar' Skuther and most of his creations. The Grox that escaped used the Infectors technology to control most of the Galactic Core.

Humans[]

Once upon a time there was a race of ugly barbarians (No effence to anyone). They left Earth because of interstellar war. The End.

Steve[]

Once upon a time there was a being flying around in a ship. He was selling time shares for planets. One day he came up wwith the staff of life, so he created it. He used this as an added bounus to sell with the time shares. Eventually he flew to close to the core. The End.

Wormulon's theory[]

I believe that Steve created the Grox, as a test that only lets the most intelligent and powerful empires meet him.

OR

The Grox are guarding the core, because they fear if every empire got the Staff of Life, they would use it as an advantage in war on the Grox's enviroment.

OR

The Grox are a Type III civilization, and by taking the Galactic Core as their's, they have an almost unlimited source of energy, making them exremely powerful.

OR

They're just evil jerks, end of story.

Hastur's Theory[]

I beleive that the Grox may have been placed in the Spore Galaxy be either an extra-galactic or extra-universal entity/organization/empire. I've drawn this conclusion partially because they have more advanced technology, an partially because they state they are not carbon-based lifeforms.

CaptainTybusen's Theory[]

By the 22nd century, the Human Empire was a thriving empire. There were many great scientists. One of these was Steve. Steve was such a famous scientist that he got his own spaceship. He traveled the galaxy, researching and inventing. One day, he came upon a race known as the Grob. They were a Tribal Stage people. They were very weak and were almost all dead on the planet. He took pity on them and abducted a full tribe's worth of Grob. He plopped them down on a planet near the Galactic Core. From his research, the radiation from the Core would mutate the Grob into something stronger.

Steve's plan completely backfired. When he returned, they had evolved to the Civilization Stage, but were weaker than ever. They had been drained of all morals and values. The planet was split into two nations: the Grob Nation and the Grox Nation. The Grox nation was much more cruel than the Grob. Steve decided that his experiment had gone too far. He planned to destroy all of the Grox and Grob on the planet. However, a traveling ship was shot down by turrets. Surprised, Steve fled back to Earth. The ship was carrying a load of Steve's latest invention: cyborg implants.

The Grox Nation discovered the wreck and salvaged what they could. They brought the implants to the nation's military dictator. When he put them on, he discovered he had extra mobility and strength. They were made of a substance that was abundant on the planet. He ordered all the vehicles that were not battling the Grob Nation to collect as much of this material as possible. After a few months of experimentation, the first replica of the implants was complete. The dictator was ecstatic. With this extra power, they could crush their rivals. Within a few years, the planet was united under the Grox Nation.

Steve finally returned and discovered the Grox had built a huge empire of 100 planets. He had lately fled from his home sector trying to protect his new creation, the Staff of Life. He sensed he was being pursued and darted into Grox territory, knowing how aggressive the Grox were. He managed to negotiate a deal with them, that they would protect him and his invention while they would be supplied with upgrades to their already-strong cyborg implants. His implants led to the strength of the Grox today. However, it further drained them of moral thought. One day, Steve decided to test the Staff of Life on a Grox planet. He did not know that the Grox had become adapted to live only on T0 planets. The Grox became furious with him and forced him through the Galactic Core into a "limbo" world. They sought to destroy the Staff of Life, but Steve had carried it with him into the Core.

The Grox began a campaign to destroy all natural life. They spread out to different galaxies to threaten natural life across the universe. This explains the presence of the Grox in every Spore game. Steve waits in his own little dimension currently. He has managed to manufacture many more copies of the Staff of Life. When spaceships make it past the Grox and into their Galactic Core, they enter Steve's world. When he spots any non-Grox spaceship, he hands over a Staff of Life as a reward for their bravery and perseverance. However, these replicas did not have the same durability as the original Staff of Life, limiting their usage to 42 uses, before it becomes too beat up to use. Steve wanted revenge after being locked in his dimension, and built artificial comets that contained two cells. They were all programmed to destroy the Grox. He targeted them to exit through the wormhole he was thrown through (his ship did not have the ability to go through wormholes, and his ship was pretty damaged after the first trip) and spread throughout all the galaxies the Grox inhabit.

As for the humans, the fight for the Staff of Life had led to allies turning into enemies, in attempts to try and get the Staff of Life technology. Little did they know that the only true Staff of Life had been locked up in a separate dimension, accessible only by Galactic Core. The humans managed to defeat their enemies, but their once powerful empire was now weak. They had lost all of their valuable allies. A scientist on Earth suggested cloning their homeworld so that their empire could live on in more desirable galaxies. Unfortunately, the Grox targeted the Humans in their universal, anti-life campaign. As a result, the humans on the cloned planets were destroyed. The original humans were in a panic. Eventually, they decided to leave to another universe to escape the Grox. The Grox attacks greatly harmed Earth's environment. Because of these two events, Earth is T1 and human-less.

The Grox continue to terrorize organic life in every galaxy and always show up in newly formed ones. So remember, the next time you see a Spore box in your local Target, you are continuing the rampage of the Grox by installing it. But not to worry! Your creature will surely defeat the Grox. Isn't that right? Right?

Astrognash's Theory[]

Long ago, billions of years before your empire became spacefaring, there were but two spacefaring empires: The Empire of Man, and The Grox Empire. Man, led by a human named Steve, rejected Spode, and had turned to pollution. The Grox, at this point loving and organic creatures, did not like this. They were the protectors of the Galactic Core, a great energy source. Man needed that source to form the Galaxy Buster, a bomb that could destroy the Galaxy. There was a war, and the Grox won, sealing the last true human (Steve) into the core. Steve has since repented, and created the SoL, but the Grox didn't believe him. Over time, as the Grox became more isolated and withdrawn, the became cyborgs, and lost their sence of morals in the quest to keep Steve in the core, to the point that they've mostly forgotten that they're keeping something in. GRanted, they are still grumpuses who hate all other sentient lifeforms, but not as much as they hate humans, and the thought of Steve getting out and polluting the Galaxy again. You see, the planets that mankind hurt most, near the core, were taken by the Grox themselves, who need them now thanks to their cyborg implants. They try to preserve the rest of it all for creature life, which they love, although they hate all spacefaring life for the fear they will encounter another race as bad as that which labeled itself Homo sapiens sapiens.

luhjgh's theorie[]

the grox were omnivores, in creature stage, so, thats wat i think, cuz, there was little food, so they, either starved, if they didnt like fruit, or eat it, but i think they prefer meat.

Lucario of the Gods's Theory[]

The Grox don't need to eat. They are cybernetic organisms. Perhaps they are creations of war or pollution by a previous species. But they cannot be descended from humans. Their home planet is near the Galactic Core. Earth, our home planet, is in the Orion's Arm section of the Milky Way, our galaxy. They have most likely been created and not evolved naturally.

TyrannoFan's Theory[]

The Grox were simply created by humans as an experiment, once they were created, their systems malfunctioned and extincted the humans (Possible explanation of no humans on Earth in Spore), they then chased after this 1 human named Steve to get the staff of life to ensure that all life shall die, but Steve hid in the center, and the Grox surround the center until he decides to Stop hiding. When Planet's Terrascore changes to T-1, their systems completely shut off since they aren't programmed to survive, being used to T-0 so much. Which means that they're actually dead, but the Cyber parts keep them alive.

FalcoPunch's Theory[]

Steve, a great scientist, traveled to the Milky Way Galaxy. He decided to create life in the galaxy, and made humans. Humans lived on Earth, but their pollution of the planet was destroying it. They, having gained greater technology through the years, left Earth and the Sol System altogether. They came upon a wormhole, which they entered, and they found themselves in the Galactic Center (not the Core, but just in the middle part.) Because the planets there were Tier 0 and pretty much inhospitable, they evolved to fit the new environment. They started to rebuild their power, and soon found their creator, Steve. They locked Steve in the Galactic Core, knowing of his great intelligence. The Humans then used him to make them stronger with new, enhanced limbs (the cyber parts), and the Humans changed their name to the Grox. They keep Steve in the Galactic Core, where he has finished a project that could help defeat the Grox, as he knows they have become corrupted with power. And zat is my theory. - FalcoPunch--Elements are the essence of life! 05:19, August 10, 2010 (UTC)

Muji's Theory[]

Basically, Steve used to watch humans until they started dieing out. So Steve, who was saddened by this (he had a affection for humans), vowed to create something that would help spread life. His first prototype was something that could only spread plant life. So Steve used it on a planet, and it was filled with plants, but no animals.

However, at the time, a cell was forming. It was weak, but it was smart. It traveled in groups, which increased their survival rate. Later on, it went onto land. However, they would have a much harder time surviving on land. But, like their cell ancestors, they went together in groups. And they had another improvement; they used shells and rocks. Later on, they made fire and tools. They concerned all other tribes, finally, they got to civ stage and for the first time, they dominated.

Steve was getting closer to completing his "Genesis Device". He needed more money, so he sold some of his time shares to the Screeble empire, one of the greatest empire that ever lived.

Back on the Grox planet, one nation (Yes, it only had one city ) sent out a Nuclear weapon on everybody. They became infected, and they started to lose vision and use of their hands, and everything else. So, because of this, they started using cyber implants.

Steve went to the planet in which he had terraformed, and found the grox were starting to build space ships. So, Steve decided to sell most of his remaining time shares to the grox, and most of them were near the galactic core. The Grox, by this time, could live on T-0 planets, because of the mutation.

The Gorx met the Screebles, and wiped them out. When they found out Steve was trying to create something that could make planets T-3, they forced him to go into the galactic core. Steve didn't know what to do, until someone named Spode asked Steve what was he doing in the galactic core. Steve told him the story about him trying to create something that could make planets T-3. So Spode disided to help Steve out, and helped him make the Staff of life. It took 42 years.

So, when ever a traveler comes to the galactic core, Spode talks to them when thee enter the core, and Steve does the rest.

Teh end.

Emerald's Theory[]

Millions of years ago, the Progenitor race freely roamed the galaxy. They made wonderous inventions, fantastic creations, and bent reality to their will. Their homeworld was right next to the Galactic Core, the beautiful planet of Terranea.

One day, a Progenitor named Maretzand began the development of the Staff of Life, the ultimate creation tool. But during his work, the Staff slipped and flew into the Galactic Core.

Alas, the Core reacted negatively to this and began to show warning signs of an oncoming burst of lethal delta rays, which would wipe out the Progenitor race instantly. Fearing the worst, Maretzand assembled a team of twelve researchers to attempt to preserve life. The other eleven researchers were named Mataza, Everen, Emionds, Kwatt, Soleben, Alezanly, Bentum, Opodahar, Zygosa, Lareotes, and Grixx.

These researchers each developed a meteorite containing the ingredients for life, with one species genetically programmed to rule the planet. In addition to this, a device that would create a force field around the planet was also included. This force field would speed up time dramatically until deactivated by a spaceship. Once that happened, the ship would gain a superpower of its choice from the 12 available. No two species could have the same superpower.

The work was completed just in time, and the first eleven researchers fired their meteors to the destination planets. However the eleventh meteor, which was fired by Maretzand, consumed more energy than expected and left Grixx with virtually no power and seconds to spare. Aiming his meteor at the second most habitable planet in the galaxy, Grixx pressed 'Fire' just as the delta rays closed in, killing them all.

Unfortunately, Grixx's meteor did not have enough power to clear Terranea's gravity field. It got sucked back in, leaving the species inside to grow on a lifeless, barren planet.

However, Grixx's species thrived on the delta rays. It caused them to grow and multiply abnormally fast. They advanced to sentience and domination not through strength and force, but through cunning and superior brainpower.

This species dubbed themselves the Grixx 1.0. As they became more and more powerful, they renamed themselves the Grixx 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, and eventually the Grox.

The Grox had a technology-focused and amoral culture. They were the first of the twelve species to advance to space, and their superpower remained unknown.

The other eleven planets reached sentience eventually as well, and the races on them were all named after their creators. These were the powers they chose upon their arrival in space:

The Maretzand chose the Static Cling, as they found that exceptionally useful for several occasions.

The Opodahar chose the Raider Rally, as they were almost as warlike as the Grox themselves.

The Mataza chose the Return Ticket, as they considered their home planet to be the cradle of civilization.

The Kwatt chose a Planet Buster ray, but accidentally used it on themselves, killing all of them.

The Lareotes chose the Gravitation Wave, as they also placed a high emphasis on technology (though not as fanatical as the Grox.)

The Soleben chose the Cash Infusion, as they were a largely economic empire.

The Zygosa chose the Fanatical Frenzy, as they were religious fanatics.

The Alezanly chose the Soothing Song, as they were exceptionally small in size and therefore vunerable.

The Everen chose the Speeding Ticket, which increased speed levels greatly but had a long recharge time.

The Bentum chose the Summon Mini-U, as they figured it could be helpful in combat.

The Emionds had to choose the Safari Vaccum. They didn't like it, but the others had all been taken and it was the only one left.

Because of the time field, these races advanced to space within five minutes of each other. They quickly encountered each other.

They had their wars, they had their revolts, they had their treaties. Eventually they formed a Galactic Council to withhold order in the galaxy.

One day Aliana, the leader of the Alezanly species, piloted her ship to the center of the galaxy. When she drew near, she found Grixx, who had somehow survived the blast and was now living in hiding from the Grox. He told her to evacuate quickly, but the Grox found her before she could and halfway assimilated her.

The Alezanly attempted to use their Soothing Song on the Grox, but it failed and they had no choice but to leave as quickly as possible. They recieved a transmission from the Grox, which confirmed war.

The leader of the Maretzand, Forandismir, had to work delicately to cure Aliana, seeing as her fellow Alezanly had no hands. It took over an hour, but finally he managed it.

Meanwhile, the Grox were planning to invade the Alezanly's homeworld of Alasalary. The invasion was successfully stopped, but the entire Galactic Council had to come in to help. The Grox immediately declared war on all of them.

After playing the defensive for a while, the Bentum leader Rogandu came up with a plan to destroy the Grox utterly. It involved each of the ten Council races destroying 500 of the Grox's 5000 planets.

This plan went poorly at the start, until the Emionds used a Safari Vaccum on the planet Grixx was on. After being recovered from the cargo hold, Grixx told them of the Grox's weakness to terraforming. If they terraformed any planet of theirs, the Grox would cease to exist on it.

When the Emionds spread this news to the other Council members, the war started to go much better. After many months, the Grox were pushed back to five planets.

Out of these remaining five, four were outposts generating a force field around the fifth. The fifth was the homeworld of the Grox, and of the Progenitors before them, but now that it was devoid of life it was renamed to Extermina.

After slowly conquering the heavily defended, terraforming-proof outposts, the gateway to Extermina was opened and the forces of the Galactic Council poured in. Many lives were lost in the final battle, and many more would have been lost as well had Forandismir not raced to the Galactic Core and recovered the Staff of Life.

Forandismir used the Staff to defend himself as he and the other Council leaders worked their way to the core of Extermina. There the Grox leader, known as Unit 001, was waiting for them. After a climactic and epic battle, Unit 001 was defeated, being flung into the Galactic Core.

With the Grox eradicated, the Council completed the Staff of Life and placed it in the Galactic Core for those who were brave enough to seek it. They also appointed a guardian over the Staff, known as Steve, to rest there for eternity until a worthy adventurer claimed the staff for their own.

Unfortunately, the Core reacted in the same way to the finished Staff of Life as it did with the prototype. The delta rays were about to strike again, killing all of the ten spacefaring races.

In desperation, the Council used Grixx's cannon (which had gained enough power by this time), loaded it with the same pre-Grox meteorite, and sent it flying towards its original intended destination of Earth. Instead of the force field generator, however, they included one forty-third of the Staff of Life, as Earth had become a T1 planet in the meantime. The meteor's species eventually evolved to become the human race, the most complex sentient organism the galaxy had ever seen.

And when the Core let off a burst of delta rays for the second time, it started the Grox's superpower in motion. When they advanced to space, the superpower of choice had been the Second Chance, which would reform the Grox if they were all wiped out.

The newly reformed Unit 001 helped develop the Grox to an even greater height than before, and they once again colonized 2400 star systems, becoming a threat to the galaxy once more.

And now, the human race has a choice: advance to space and conquer the Grox, or stay on Earth, make money, and let themselves die. The fate of the galaxy rests with the Human Empire.

gvsz's theory[]

There was a race of small mamaliean like creatures called the grox. they were a carnivourus species, but were very bad at hunting; they had no special weapons like spitting poison. they had no claws, just stubby hands with three fingers. the only form of attack they had was a bite, which was a comparitivly weak one. only the small members of their species could survive as they didn't need as much food. however one day a strange space ship came to their planet and on board was three races of aliens who called themselves 'the allegiance of spode'. these aliens called themselves: the debug squid, the willosaur and the screeble!

The grox, who had by this time barely scraped an evolution into a tribe, worshiped this allegiance as gods. the allegiance gave them a proper chance to evolve and had accidently left the blueprint for a technology of theirs on the planet during their last visit. a old, forgotten blueprint of something obselete: a car. the grox, who had made a medival-type city with houses with beds, chairs etc. thanks to the allegiance of spode, built this machine, and used the technology to make more of this. they made spaceships, and also perfected their bodies with cybernetic implants. a mechanical eye with multiple vison settings, an arm for extra strength, a leg for better running.

They meet the allegiance, and wanted to become a part of it. But like every species, there were some bad grox, who wanted to take over the allegiance of spode. the allegiance heard this, and there was a massive galactic war, which hit its peak when the allegiance nuked all of the grox worlds.

The grox, however, won. But the three species of the allegiance did one last act of defiance. throughout the galaxy they spread a bio weapon to every creature. The grox had cybernetic parts on there body, which made them ayssmetric, and being ayssmetric was now a major part of their culture and religion. the bio weapon spread to every creature, changing their very DNA, making them all symmetric. the bio weapon missed just one creature: a creature called the anticipaste.

The grox took the screeble, and using stolen technology made them devolve from there blue form to their yellow ancestreal form. the debug squid were just killed outright. the willosaur, however, were given a more horrible fate: changing into a completely different species: a tripod neurvo. they were left the two species to fend for themselves. the grox's homeworld had been nuked to T-0. they took up residence around the galactic core, a place where the allegiance's planets were.

one species, however, admired the allegiance, and sent one of their own called steve to the core to kill the grox. they planted a different bio weapon in the core, so when the core made a shockwave of unimaginable energy, the grox's robot parts would shut down and leave the grox helpless. however the race had ther plan discovered and were all but wiped out by the Grox. Only steve survived. But before they died, they sent information onto planets that influenced the evolution of the species from the cizallization stage up.

countless planets have been sent this informaton, most of the species have become space-faring and most have been given the staff of life from steve. But most that have been given the staff of life have used it another way, destroying the grox colonies one by one. some have managed to destroy the Grox. However, the Grox somehow always bounce back. But how knows, mabye one day a species will evolve to wipe out the Grox for good. Following in the footsteps of the species that steve is. A species that admired the allegiance of spode. A species called the Humans.

TobiasWolf's theory[]

I believe that the Grox are advanced humans. They were the first spacefaring empire and decided to colonize a major energy source (Galactic Core). As most of us know the human race can't evolve anymore because we have everything we need we do not evolve more because we make things suitable for us. The Human race un-evolved, they lost most eye sight and most other senses and became carnivores, they soon made cyborg parts to adapt. But these parts come at a cost, they had to use energy for this so they use radiation from the galactic core, this is why they are over there. Anyways they became so dependent on the radiation from the core they became toxic and changed even more to the small figures we know today. The Grox also had many T-3,2 and 1 planets but the Grox were so greedy they tore down the trees and everything so they have T-0 planets. Now they are so used to T-0 planets anything that makes it habitable for anyone else makes them die. And they are aggressive because they are humans. Tobiaswolf 22:50, November 19, 2010 (UTC)

MasterMachine's Theory[]

My theory is that Steve is a Human-Grox hybrid (surprised?). Here's the story:

Humans had always managed to ruin their planets with pollution and war, but they loved all forms of life. They wanted to create something that wouldn't die when they polluted their worlds. So they started working and working and working. Over time, they eventually gave up because they just couldn't do it. Then, because all stories have to have a sad part, they encountered the Grox while looking into the center of the galaxy. Back then though, the Grox were peaceful and benevolent, they didn't like war and did what they could to prevent such things from occurring. Of course, Humans, being the war loving jealous and destructive creatures we are, went to war with over control of the core. They didn't understand why we wanted the core so badly, but they let us in, and the war was avoided. We didn't understand why they would give up the core, with its massive energy powers and amazing destructive force, nor did we understand why they loved peace so much. We didn't bother to, we just went in and used the massive power of the core to unleash destructive energies unto the Grox worlds, which went from T3 to T0 in only a few minutes. The Grox were furious, and attacked us, but because of their advanced tech they didn't die out when their worlds were un-Tformed. They became bitter over the years of war with humans, and lost most of their morals and peaceful nature. The war lasted many many years, with only hate and fury the be found on both sides.

Then, a young human female crash landed on a Grox world. The Grox there wanted to destroy her, but one of them stepped up and defended her. His name, along with hers, has been lost to time. Because the Grox were still peace loving at heart, they would never attack their own species. They allowed the human girl to live on their planet unharmed, if unliked. The Grox male and the Human Girl fell in love over time, and both found out that the other's species were similar, but at the same time different. The Grox boy learned that humans were capable of love and sorrow and pity and fear, and the human girl learned that the Grox were also capable of such things. Humans and Grox had always been polar opposites, and as such had never been destined to get along, but those two friends felt they could change that, they felt that the Grox and the Humans could learn to get along, if only someone would show them the way. They never told anyone about this ideal, because they both knew that if they did they would be exiled from both Human and Grox space, and neither wanted that. As they grew older, they became lovers and eventually they had a single child, and named him Steve. They poured their hopes and dreams into him, and he became the embodiment of their great dream. Meanwhile, humans and Grox continued to fight, humans by annihilating Grox worlds with powerful weapons, Grox by anti-Tforming human worlds, as revenge for what humans had done to their worlds. Steve grew up in secret, and was a brilliant young Humox (as he called himself). He learned of his parent species histories, and learned of how his parents met and fell in love. During this time, his mother carved him a magnificent Staff, made to look like a treeling just starting its long life. He came to believe, as they did, that humans and Grox could indeed live together in peace.

One day, Humans attacked the world on which Steve lived, and when they did his entire world was forever changed. The Humans attacked brutally, killing any Grox they saw. When they came across Steve's mother and father, hiding with him in the small Biodome that they lived in, they killed his father, thinking that he was an enemy. In the process of killing Steve's father, they accidentally destroyed the Staff that Steve's mother had carved for him. Steve's mother then attacked them, enraged at her husbands death, at how brutal her species was, and they killed her too, before realizing she was human. When they did, they were horrified, and then when they found Steve they had to rethink their perspectives. They tried to ask Steve who he was, but Steve had never learned how to speak any human languages but his mothers. She had spoken -insert language here- , which was now a dead language among humans (all the-insert nationality here- worlds had been destroyed in the war). So they took him off the planet, and made their own assumptions: The Grox had been using his mother to try and create a super-species that they could use to wipe out humanity. So they turned Steve's massive mental powers against the Grox, asking him to create a weapon that could destroy them. He agreed, secretly intending to undo the damage humans and Grox had caused. He started his work.

Many years later, he finished. He had created, not a weapon, but a powerful tool that could bring life back to the entire galaxy. He told the humans that all they needed to do was point it at the core and fire, and it would destroy the Grox forever. Humanity was overjoyed, and when he asked for a single favor, they agreed without even hearing what it was. He asked that they spare the Grox from his weapon, one last test to see if humans were capable of forgiving the Grox (though the Grox didn't need forgiving). They were now caught in his trap, and lost all trust in him. They looked though the weapon, and found that it would make the core worlds beautiful and life filled again. They wanted this power for themselves, so they never did as Steve had told them to. Rather, they broke his weapon into billions of smaller parts, and scattered them across the galaxy. So Steve asked a different favor, because humans had already agreed tone favor. He asked to be set free from their worlds. That favor they agreed to, and he left for the Grox worlds immediately.

Upon arriving, he startled the Grox by offering, as a human representative, peace. He hoped that if the Grox stopped attacking human worlds humans would stop attacking theirs. He didn't tell them that he wasn't an official representative, he didn't fully think it out. When the Grox agreed, he went with them back to humans to seal the deal. Humans, because we were so stupid, revoked his attempt at peace between the two species, and instead used his weapon to bring life to thousands of planets across the galaxy. The Grox attacked those life-bringing ships with everything they had, and eventually all of them were destroyed. They remain scattered across the galaxy even now, as the spaceships that the starter species always find in their home systems. After the Grox destroyed these ships, Steve was taken to the core and put in a special prison of their creation, to be punished for his crime of lying to them about peace with humans. They created the spaceship he lives in, and trapped him in the core. They build up their military and started to methodically wipe out all human colonies in the galaxy. As they did so, they saw that humans had already spread life across the galaxy, had already turned it against them, and they came to loath life with their entire being.

After wiping out humans, the Grox attempted to colonize Earth, like someone pissing on anothers grave, but the many alien intelligence's that humans had seeded throughout the galaxy attacked them. The Grox were now hated by each and every species in the galaxy, humans were extinct, and Steve was trapped in the Core, creating more and more of his powerful tool, the mighty Staff of Life, as he named it. Steve gives you 42 because that is how old his parents were when they died. He named it "Staff" after that magnificant staff his mother had carved him. He went more then a little insane while trapped in the Core, alone, not even an enemy to hate. Even now, he hopes that humans and Grox can get along someday, not knowing that humans are extinct, that he is the only being left that remembers them, that he is the last descendant of a human mother to be found in all the universe. He tells people to go to Earth, hoping that when they get there and ask for "Steve", Humans will remember him, and maybe, just maybe, they will have reached the point of being able to be peaceful with the Grox. As for the Grox themselves, they guard the Core, guard Steve's prison cell to prevent this mysterious super-weapon of his from ever being used, not knowing that he never made one, not knowing that he wants the Grox to be happy again. In the time they have been alone, been attacked by everyone they encountered, the Grox have lost all trust in biological life-forms. Thats why they have -70 for "We distrust strangers", and not "We dislike biological life". Even now, they still long for a friend. So now, will you live as your ancestors and creators did, attacking the Grox for no reason except that they are different? Or will you do as Steve did, as his mother did, and be a friend to the Grox, give them an ally in this big bad universe? What will your choice be?

The reason your species always turns up in a system with a crashed human spaceship and near an old human colony world are because only they have the power to ally or destroy the Grox. They are the "heroes" of the story, so to speak. You don't follow the background character's story, you follow the hero's story. The story of the guys who affect the entire galaxy. Thats my belief on why the story follows you, and on all the other major aspects of Spore (The Grox, Steve, The Staff Life)
