The Yamato Intersolar Commune, also referred to as the Greater Intersolar Territories of the Core Yamato Commune, the YIC, and Japan, is a federal parliamentary constitutional monarchy located within the Milky Way Galaxy of the First Gigaquadrant, with extragalactic colonies located within the Andromeda Galaxy. Originally a far east Asian country on Earth with a colourful history of industrialisation and advanced technological study and progression, Japan, in its various national incarnations, has been a leading influence within the realm of innovation, having been one of the first human nations to have exercised advanced astroengineering and extrasolar exploration while maintaining a significant industrial hand in regards to trade with foreign territories. In the modern era, the Intersolar Commune enjoys expansive territory and both cultural and ethnic diversity within its society and political board, while having retained its significance in regards to affairs with other human and nearhuman states.

Founded in the early 23rd Century after the instigation of various social reforms within the Coalition of Yamato, followed by a collapse of purely humanocentric idealism due to the integration of various extraterrestrial peoples, the Yamato Intersolar Commune was one of the various sovereign nations of Asia and had attained considerable military and industrial success while competing with the likes of the East Asian Coalition, POTATO, and the European Star Republic. Enlightened by an age of expansionism following decades of inter-Japanese uprisings and civil war prior to the founding of the Coalition of Yamato, Japan has sought to maintain stature above both competitor nations and uninvolved states thus became both a staplehead and a face of mankind when the denizens of Earth initiated travel into the reaches of space, housing commendable military and economic fronts which has allowed it to remain a superpower while operating at the intergalactic scale.

While retaining minimal influence within the developments of the Great Xonexian Schism, the Yamato Intersolar Commune collaborates with the likes of the Allied Terran Republic, the Orion League, and the Human Superstate. Considered a diverse superpower that houses influencial military potency, the Intersolar Commune has tangled with the likes of the Delpha Coalition of Planets and various other technologically and socially advanced civilisations present throughout Gigaquadrant prior to the Xonexian Schism, with records kept both by the Intersolar Commune and its former-enemies holding implications that traditionalist conceptions, such as honour and valor, have found themselves retained despite Japan's combative proficiency.

Early HistoryEdit

The earliest evidence of native Japanese civilization stems back to the Jōmon period, which lasted between 4,000 and 300 BC, where the Japanese people had adopted a hunter-gatherer method of living, with tribute being paid to, and cultural and religious influence taken from, imperial China during the Kofun period, which would later grow to bloom into the colourful and distinguished society that Japan would become historically renowned for. In 1550, Japan became a divided country, with many domains being ruled by daimyos with each of their personal samurai militia while Japan as a whole became isolated from the rest of the world until the mid-1800s, where Western influence allowed for the foundation of the Meiji period and the rise of the Empire of Japan, which would become a potent and well-recognized national identity once the rest of the rogue warlords and samurai had been either destroyed or assimilated.

After initiating and succeeding at various conflicts throughout the early 1900s, the Empire of Japan was eventually dissolved after its allies in the Axis powers were defeated in a series of global conflicts during the Second World War and the United States of America resorted to atomic warfare in response to Japan assaulting Pearl Harbour, resulting in the infamous destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki - the cause behind the lack of atomic weaponry within Japan throughout much of the modern day after their national reformation. Once the country had been denied of their overseas territories and they were forced to undergo a shift in political system as well as American occupation, Japan became one of the most renowned and well-recognized states throughout the entire world; they were recognized as one of the most advanced and innovative nations prior to the 21st Century and made monumental steps in the industry of renewable energies, the sciences, and, perhaps most notably, media, with Japanese influences being adopted throughout Europe and the Americas in television, cinema, and animation.

21st CenturyEdit

The 21st Century saw many developments for Japan; the nation became widely recognized as one of the most influential producers of modern media and attained a following that stretched from the Americas to across Europe, with the exportation of manga and anime captivating audiences across the globe and inspiring a great many more producers of modern media. Japan boasted the world's tenth largest population and the third largest economy, also possessing one of the world's largest and most efficient defensive military forces. Japan is credited as being one of the first Old Earth nations that had completely converted to alternative, renewable energy sources and avoided the primary crises brought on by the scarcity of fossil fuels, although they did not escape the political tensions that came to follow.

With the European Civil War between the European Republic and the Scandinavian countries and the internal conflicts within the Americas, the Japanese government became pressured to choose sides as threats of global nuclear warfare began to circulate and relations within Eastern Asia started to dwindle into chaos; soon the country became embroiled in its own civil war, with a great number of factions fighting for the dominance of Japan while many Japanese natives, wishing to participate in these conflicts in order to assist the nations that had earned their allegiance as well as desiring to escape the earthquakes that began to become more and more prominent as the years passed, resorted to work within private military companies and mercenary organizations; significant numbers of Japanese mercenaries were involved in proxy wars between the continental powers, with Japanese PMCs often coming into hostile contact with other Japanese PMCs.

With private Japanese military firms fighting one another as well as other PMCs throughout Asia, the Americas, and Europe while nationalist and terrorist groups came to blow within their native lands, the remnants of the Japanese government and the Japanese monarchy, who had founded the Japanese nationalist group Kokudo no Chūshin-Bu (trans: Heart of the Land), sought to secure their homeland once again and bring peace back from the grave. Their movement eventually succeeded in appeasing the warring factions although as a consequence upset many mercenary groups who profited from the chaos - as such, many Japanese PMS decided to apply for citizenship within the countries that they had fought within and alongside, including the nation of France which had suffered greatly from its own political turmoil.

With the reunification of Japan established in between the late 2070s to the early 2080s, the Oriental Pact Organization was founded in the August of 2078, which continued to either assimilate, crush, or exile independent Japanese militant groups until the official declaration of a state of Japanese unity and peace in the June of 2083, although prior to this the OPO had occupied themselves with the reconstruction of Japan's infrastructure and architecture. Rather than a constitutional monarchy as Japan had been governed under previously, the Oriental Pact Organization focused on a board of Japanese politicians, with the Emperor's heir possessing a much greater say in the actions that Japan would have to undertake.

22nd CenturyEdit

At the dawn of the 22nd Century, Japan had largely recovered from the deconstruction of society that was caused by the internal fighting due to political tensions during the Fossil Fuel Crisis of the 21st Century, or had at least regained a large extent of what was lost. The Oriental Pact Organization placed heavy emphasis upon its space program and had a major involvement in the development of the first interplanetary drives, which Japan had willingly shared with other states within Europe and the Americas so long as they were stable. Spacecraft were utilized and improved upon by the OPO and eventually Japan saw oriental colonists thriving upon the surface of a terraformed Ganymede and other satellites within Jupiter's orbit - space stations were soon constructed to orbit, as well as function as, moons that were spread over Jupiter, maintaining colossal networks of trade between one another while supplying the Japanese populace that had remained on Earth.

Eventually, the Oriental Pact Organization would become caught in the wake of World War III, meaning attention paid towards the possibility of interstellar travel through wormhole drives, which were on the brink of creation within the Japanese colonies, had to be diverted towards struggles and tension pertaining to territories on Earth. The Oriental Pact Organization came into conflict with the newly-founded East Asian Coalition due to their insistence on attempting to invade Japanese territory so as to expand their influence, alongside the fact that the EAC had intended to invade the Philipenes, an associate nation of POTATO whom had founded a temporary alliance with the OPO, and while the OPO maintained fewer colonies on Earth than the EAC had done, they managed to defend themselves with overwhelming efficiency and eventually shattered the EAC's goals and blockades, defeating them with some assistance from POTATO.

However, rather than crushing the EAC beneath its sword, the OPO allowed the EAC to keep their core territories at the cost of political favours demanded by Japan - effectively the OPO had rendered the EAC and its lesser associates as a puppet, using them whenever they saw fit in secret through blackmail in order to achieve certain goals that worked against other superpowers such as the European Star Republic and the aforementioned POTATO, whom had shown distaste in the OPO's decision to retain the EAC's existence. POTATO, in turn, was in debt to Japan for managing to spare the Philipenes from the EAC's imperialism and thus the OPO resumed shortly after the Third World War the research, study, and practice of the first human interstellar drives as well the secret behind biological longevity.

The 22nd Century ended with the Oriental Pact Organization supporting other national attempts at interstellar hardware while they themselves flourished and thrived in the stars as one of the first nations to have achieved intersolar travel and colonization. These were going to become the latter years of the Oriental Pact Organization as soon encounters with alien intelligence would allow for a variety of new opportunities concerning the sciences and resources - as well as the emergence of humanocentric interest and pro-human ideals that would be imposed upon the non-human populaces that resided within the stars alongside the dying Oriental Pact Organization that had been preparing for its rebirth into something greater.

23rd Century - Rise of the Yamato Intersolar CommuneEdit

The Oriental Pact Organization, as one of the first nations to have created the first interstellar drives used by Terran humanity, had attained one of the most expansive intersolar networks by the middle of the 2200s, with their political reign over the East Asian Coalition, while supplying space for it to expand and aid for those that suffered in the aftermath of World War III, continuing to persist even as they established colonies across the stars surrounding Earth and beyond. Allowing the EAC a degree of space within their own territory, the OPO garnered a large degree of immigrants that descended from the Eastern Asian countries such as China and Korea, effectively endangering the pedigree Japanese population over the course of the century, with 87% of the current human population of the Yamato Intersolar Commune being of mixed Asian heritage due to the harbouring of former-EAC peoples within OPO borders.

Human Colonial Wars

At some point prior to 2250, the OPO, along with the EAC, found its solar territories being penetrated and defiled by other neighbouring human nations, causing an incitement of violence on the OPO's part in order to defend its peoples and resources, as well as fighting to maintain its reputation among the interstellar human community; the OPO made use of the EAC's own resources, including its terrestrial and naval militia, in order to fend off those that sought to settle on already colonized worlds, turning their most valuable systems into fortresses that were defended by blockades of combined OPO-EAC fleets and ground legions. However, the OPO was not free from its own faults, having trespassed into the territories of their neighbours on more than one occasion and settling upon their worlds without prior knowledge of foreign cultivation.

With POTATO having risen from the ashes that it had been reduced to in the aftermath of World War III, tensions began to arise on the OPO's part as POTATO challenged their claim, with the oriental nation having fortified the worlds within Gliese 86, Gliese 581, and Tau Ceti. A series of Japanese-American conflicts occured as one another strolled into the territory of each, largely by sheer unfortunate coincidence although there had been times that the OPO provoked violent responses from POTATO via commanding EAC fleets, in secret, to approach American territory to attract conflict so that the OPO could later claim unknowing on the EAC's part and accusing the American collection of states to being violent and unnecessarily warlike, pushing the buttons of POTATO so that they may hope to shield their own reputation and receive tribute from the Americans in apology pacts.

At a later date, terrorism began to appear within the OPO's core worlds; combined groups from both the Oriental Pact Organization and the East Asian Coalition had merged in an attempt to separate the latter from the former's influence and political strings of control, although they were quickly terminated by the OPO with extreme prejudice with punishments being afflicted onto the EAC in response. While these groups were relatively minor in comparison to the scale of the OPO, the conflicts almost caused yet another Japanese civil war as EAC separatist supporters began emerging with the Japanese government, with one infamous Gesshin Sakata arising to the position of planetary governor over Ganymede and threatening secession unless the OPO appease to the EAC's own favours and needs, ignorant to the fact that a large amount of the EAC's infrastructure, technology, and organization were results of the OPO's claim over the EAC - while the secession did not occur, the Oriental Pact Organization began discussion with politicians and representatives both within and outside of the East Asian Coalition to settle the status of the EAC's independence.

Yamato Intersolar NavyEdit

Tanjiro Miyahara

I have seen all the horrors and tragedies that the empty void could ever bestow. Thus, I have become one with the horror and the tragedy that awaits in the dark for my enemies.

Tanjiro Miyahara is a veteran admiral of the Yamato Intersolar Navy and one of the most commended individuals throughout Japanese military history, having fought in many conflicts throughout the course of his career and attaining a great many victories in the name of the Intersolar Commune. Having aspired to, and eventually surpassing, the military legacy that his father had left behind, Tanjiro is a renowned public figure and a face that the Intersolar Navy uses to advertise their services, with Tanjiro being widely regarded as the unofficial commanding authority over the rest of the entirety of the Navy due to his reputation as a disciplined and unhesitant figure, having a known streak for initiating severe naval brutality against his opposition.

While well into his mid-200s, Tanjiro remains in service with little fault to his methods despite his age, although his patience for error and younger individuals has always been notably short. Tanjiro is currently the oldest admiral within the Intersolar Navy although he is not the oldest person to have ever served by far. Tanjiro himself is the aspiration for many young and aspiring recruits and naval officers, although the most notable admiral who aspires towards Tanjiro's achievements is his own nephew - Sawao Miyahara.

Sawao Miyahara

The fire of the heart in my chest, the hearts in my crew's chests, burns brightly in the night. It will take more than the threat of pirates and rebels to extinguish that, no matter how hard they should try.

Sawao Miyahara is an admiral of the Yamato Intersolar Navy and the nephew of the renowned Tanjiro Miyahara. Young and full of aspiration, Sawao is noted by both other admirals and his own crew as being headstrong and outwardly confident, holding an obvious preference for action above words which has led him to both inspire his crewman and direct him into some trouble with the Intersolar Commune's government and the board of command within the Intersolar Navy, most usually on accusation of reckless behaviour and disregard for standard protocol. Nonetheless, because of the status of his uncle and his clearly noble intentions, Sawao continues to serve and has never allowed himself to surrender, even in the face of seemingly innumerable odds.

Sawao joined the Intersolar Navy to honour the name of his family as well as take advantage of the chance to explore the galaxy and witness all that it has to offer. Sawao is neutral to the otherwise humanocentric ideals that the Intersolar Commune imposes onto its citizens, believing that a person's worth should be decided by their merit and the ordeals they are willing to put themselves through rather than their origin. A majority of Sawao's commendations were gained during the Dominatus War and led on both offensive and defensive fronts.
