The Xi'Arazulha, also known by the name Verazkha, are a powerful species of extraplanar creatures who serve as the Essentials of Death Energy. Inhabiting the realm of Shard, the Xi'Arazulha serve as a manifestation of the cycle of life and death alongside their counterparts, the Vi'Navitum, having the divine purpose of propagating death for the purpose of making way to new life. However, most of their kind have forsaken their duty to simply devour all life, having pledged themselves to the Dominion of the Xhodocto.

History[]

The Xi'Arazulha are creations of the godform called Mrityavartin‎, who created them to fulfill a divine purpose across reality alongside his sibling entity, Jivanavartin, and his own Vi'Navitum. In what is believed to have been a mandate by the Xhodocto known as Krathazhrukhal, the Vi'Navitum begun traveling across the various realms of reality, planting the seeds of life before moving on to the next, while their Xi'Arazulha counterparts devoured the dying and gave way for life to be born once more.

At one point in their history, Mrityavartin‎ and most of his Xi'Arazulha were corrupted and twisted to become followers of Angazhar, causing them to go on a frenzy and seek out entire universes to consume, gorging themselves on their life and rendering them to sterile husks. The Vi'Navitum responded by waging war on them, which resulted in a fracturing of the realm of Erratsactum and the creation of the realm of Shard. Jivanavartin eventually imprisoned these Xi'Arazulha in Shard, with only a small number of their race resisting the urge to follow their god into darkness.

The Xi'Arazulha under Mrityavartin‎ slowly were able to break free of their prison over eons. Their first appearance in the Onuris Universe ocurred when Zargoth of the Vyro'Ralza opened the way for some of them to attack the Borealis Galaxy, instigating the Second Borealis Galactic War; only due to the intervention of Volzara of the Vyro'Narza, and Zargoth himself turning on them over differences in their methods, were the creatures stopped. By this point in time, the Xi'Arazulha were believed to have pledged themselves to the Dominion of the Xhodocto during its original formation.

Characteristics[]

Biology[]

The Xi'Arazulha are entities of pure Death Energy, manifesting as tall humanoid creatures with frightening, shimmering black hide which sports cracks of powerful red essence glowing through them, barely contained within them. Razor-sharp bone plates grow out from their bodies, turning each part of them into a weapon, and a large, bony crown of horns grows on their heads. They have armored bodies and a long, lashing tail that trails behind them.

Behavior[]

Possessing a hunger for life, the Xi'Arazulha are violent and ravenous entities who eagerly inflict death and misery upon mortals. They are followers of Therusism, believing all things lead to the inevitable death of reality, and it is their task to speed up the process by causing as much ruination as possible. The Xi'Arazulha who have remained under their Vi'Navitum counterparts do not hold this mentality, instead possessing a stoic and detached demeanor similar to that of their non-corrupted brethren.

Abilities[]

As masters of Death Energy, Xi'Arazulha are considered extremely dangerous among Essentials, and the more powerful among their kind are capable of laying waste to entire planets on their own. Using their energies, they can sap out the life of other organisms, spread rot, decay and rust, and turn once lush landscapes into dried out deserts. They are largely impervious to all but the most potent mortal armaments, and they can heal injuries sustained during combat by consuming the lifeforce of their enemies.

Individuals[]

Mrityavartin‎ is the Essential God of Death Energy and the creator of the Xi'Arazulha. Formerly an equal to Jivanavartin, his pledging to Angazhar led to most of his race to fall to corruption, becoming violent spreaders of destruction across the cosmos. Mrityavartin‎ is consumed by an unending hunger for life, likening himself to a swarm that seeks to devour all of reality, leaving nothing left in its wake.

Notes[]

Quotes[]

Death was but a construct to us. To die - departing the physical body - was not irreversible. Yet we soon understood the meaning of what it truly means to die when our kind bore witness to Angazhar. There is death which the Verazkha sustain themselves upon, and then there is a death beyond death itself. They too know this, and they too fear it now they have seen it themselves.

- Lord Zhuleshxi

I have seen many allies of mine die. While we are able to 'cheat' death, it is not so easy to cheat its masters.

- Agent Tau
