|title=SUMMARY
The history of the Persan first began with the legendary Star Dragons known as the Persacron, massive dragons thousands of kilometers in height, absolute control over the elements of Liminal Energy, and possessing both Fruit of Life and Fruit of Knowledge making them gods in the eyes of many beings. The Persacron lived in harmony with the Multus Esse until the rebellion of the Alpha Grox. The Alpha Grox drove the Multus Esse into hiding and then turned their attention to the Persacron having learned that by destroying 30 stars they could create artificial lifeforms, called Dragon Machine Soldiers, of equal power to the Persacron that would grow stronger the more star dragons it killed. The Alpha Grox destroyed 100 suns creating three complete Dragon Machine Soldiers, and one partially complete, that started hunting the Persacron to near extinction. The Persacron to survive choose to sacrifice themselves by removing their Fruit of Life and dissolving into primordial ooze called Eitr from which new life would energy and eventually evolve into new sapient races. The dragon Juraxis choose to die on the planet that would become known as Malkuth in what would become known as the Keter system. Here his death would give life to the Vanara.

The first pair of limbs (the forelimbs) are two arms with sickle claws on the ends of opposable thumbs, the hindlimbs, on the other hand, are two bat-like wings that can be used to fly but also can be braced on the ground when the Vanara rears up. Their heads are dominated by long jaws with conical teeth that are ornamented with four eyes, long cat-like ears, colorful frills, and whisker-like tendrils. A small but brightly colored sail runs down the Vanara's body from the tip of the snot to the end of the tail.<br><br>Aranth are the second species of the Varstec and are an avian race with some strangely insectoid features. They are covered in brightly colored feathers that grow into long plumes at the end of their long tails and from the backs of their heads that sit atop long, serpentine necks with long, hooked beaks. Their insectoid features come in the form of compound eyes, six legs ending in talons that can be used as arms, and butterfly-like wings.<br><br>Bolxai are the third species of the Varstec and are mammalian creatures. They are a form of marsupial with long stiff tails used for balance, and long flat feet used to propel them via a hoping gate. Their hands and feat are both webbed and can be used for swimming, interestingly their hands are useless as grasping. Instead the Bolxai use a long, prehensile tongue with a grasping claw at the end to manipulate objects. This tongue is projected from a tube-like mouth in a long rounded head with no external ears.<br><br>Finally there are the Demonica, massive toad-like creatures covered in scally and scute covered skin. Varstec use the MetaNet to store and recall information, communicate with one another at FTL speeds, play games, and other various online tasks. Far more interesting though is that Accel Space acts as a storage space for the Varstec's own form of unique AI known as Spirits and Varstec's ability to draw psionic power from it.<br><br>Spirits are AIs created from the encoded minds of dead Varstec animated through the infused Life Energy of their old bodies, drawn into Accel Space becoming a digital form of celestial. The ability to draw Life Energy from Accel Space is more limited in who can use it to the Technoshamans of the Varstec. Psionic abilities are accessible to every citizen with basic neutral techniques allowing them to interface with, interact with, and control Varstec biomechanical technology. By far the most powerful users of psionics among the Varstec are the Shorn Ones. Shorn Ones are those marked by their ancestral spirits as chosen guardians of their Clan. The earliest interstellar political body the Vanara has a record of is the Sacred Vanara Empire. The Sacred Vanara Empire was never and single continuous political entity but rather a succession of dynasties with one succeeding or overthrowing the other. The last of these Dynasties was the Melam Dynasty. A Dynasty of immortal transapients known for their horrifically abusive treatment of those beneath them. One of their twisted experiments resulted in the creation of the Revalationists, an entire generation of children born with unstable elemental powers who the Melam trained into their own personal elementally empowered honor guard of child soldiers.

Production within Varslan has been significantly altered with the invention of technologies such as nanoforges and printers which allows single individuals or sizable collectives to make many high-quality goods as long as they have the raw materials. Thus the Varstec economy is largely built around cottage industries and craftsmen over massive assembly lines. Assembly line forms of manufacturing do exist for larger and more complex undertakings such as building ships, entirely automated and composed of thousands of nanoforges, printers, swarms, and drones working to assemble the final product. Much of the mining, manufacturing, and assembly is controlled via automated systems, often with minimal organic oversight.<br><br>

The Melam Dynasty would find its fall at the hands of invaders from beyond the galaxy called the Scelus. A swarm of teeth and blades that devoured the population of entire planets to grow their numbers. The Melam would have been willing to sacrifice trillions to fight back the Scelus, but the Revalationists proved to be less willing. They personally hated the Melam for what had been done to them and when given the chance the Revalationists slaughtered every last one of their old masters. They then gathered up what was left of the Vanara colonies aboard massive mobile habitats before fleeing from Vanara space.

This highly liberal attitude is tempered though, by a fundamental ideology of balance, morality to the Varstec is finding the path to living a balanced life in an ever-changing ephemeral world in which all men will eventually die. Morality in Varstec belief is fundamentally connected to balance with the Varstec seeing evil, not as an opposite or absence of good, but rather the result of a good falling out of balance with its opposing good. Duality and cyclicality feature heavily in Varstec philosophy which sees life and death as intrinsically connected and reliant upon one another to exist and perpetuate. Core to all of these beliefs is the Varstec trinity of man, machine, and nature, all of which need to exist in balance and harmony in order to create a moral and righteous society.<br><br>Asism is the state religion of Varslan and worships the LIMINIST 02 entity Asiki as its central goddess. Before building a nation based on mutual bonds of trade and religion the Vastec were marauders and pirates that often pillaged and raid their neighbors and each other for resources. This militarism has carried over with all Vastec being taught to fight and expected to give battle should their tribe, clan, or family ever fall under attack. Many Vastec still maintain a life of mercenary work and piracy but often times working either in null-sec space or through more legitimate channels as professional PMCs and privateers.<br><br>

All the while the Scelus pursued them.

Years of Exile
As the Vanara fled through the void of space they develop a specific MO. They would settle a region of space to strip mine of resources destroying thousands of planets to fuel their never-ending flight from the Scelus. After millennia of existing on the run the Vanara came to the west of Mirus and found it heavily inhabited by other nations. At first, the Vanara considered this of little consequence they had crushed large empires in their flight before (one of which being the Trahoxi Imperium) but these natives proved surprisingly resistant to their invasion. Realizing they were running out of time the Revalationists took a quest to see what was beyond the west but never returned. Fearing they were now caught in a two-pronged attack by the Scelus some Vanara became even more desperate while others began to consider the virtues of cooperation with these new races.

The Drakodominatus Tyranny
Unknown to the rest of the Vanara the Revalationists had not been consumed by the Scelus but rather had been discovered by another race, the Drakodominatus. They enslaved and experimented upon the Revalationists whose anomalous elemental abilities help contribute to the development of the Drakodomintus biodrones. When the Drakodominatus unleash the Ultima Serum upon their own kind. The Revalationists escaped in the resulting chaos and fled into deep space. There they were discovered by the Waptoria who helped them flee to the territory now occupied by the nations of nascent UAE. There to their shock the Revalationists found that the rest of the Vanara had dissolved into a desperate civil war. The Revalationists launched a military campaign both to reunite the Vanara and created the UPD in the process.

The Persan then turned their attention to securing their future against the Dominatus and taking revenge for their enslavement. They develop biomechanical mechs called Immortals through which a Revalationist could manifest their elemental powers. To bypass Dominatus long-range weapons and strike at them with melee weapons. These tactics proved utterly devastating against the Dominatus who could never truly counter them. When the war came to an end the powers of the Anti-Dominatus Coalition met to discuss what to do with the remaining Dominatus. The Persan wanted to exterminate the adult Dominatus but take the new and unborn to be raised as Persan, they were overruled though and the Dominatus were exterminated in full. This left the Persa with a cynical streak in regards to international politics and for a while they would seek contact with no one else outside the UAE.

The Covenant of Mirus
However, the UPD's loyalty towards the UEA was always conditional, for them it was simply a new way to gather resources to fuel their next exodus from the oncoming Scelus invasion, albeit through the making of allies over the crushing of enemies. They had planned to flee to the former Dominatus territories once the Scelus invaded the west but these hopes would be dashed. An invasion by extragalactic powers of the DCP and the Xonexi Allies who had been fighting a war beyond the scope of Mirus invaded a took the former Dominatus territories. Though the Xonexi drove out the DCP they claimed the territories all for themselves. This greatly angered the Mirusian who had claims on those territories they felt had been unacknowledged. The Zarbania Powers and the Imperium of War set aside their differences with the UEA to form the Sovereign Mirusian Coalition.

The Vanara was angered as well having been denied territory to flee to and joined in the war to reclaim the former DT Territories. However, the Hegemony, once allies of the Mirusians, betrayed them to side with the Xonexi and launched a genocidal counter-attack against their once allies. The Vanara, who the Hegemony had always distrusted, was hit especially hard by the attack and were forced to pull out of any further conflict. Eventually, the other Mirusian were able to turn the tide and come out victorious, for a temporary period of time.

Society
Organization
The UPD is the ruling authority of the region of space in Mirus known as the Persa Expanse composed of a numerous administrative sectors known as the Satraps. These Satraps are largely independent only owning loyalty to the UPD's central authority in the form of taxes, adherence to code of sapient rights, maintaining internal order, and levies for times of war. These satraps each are controlled by a Vanara clan. These clans are made up of several families that each control a colony with the Satrap of the clan they are under. The central authority of the UPD is the homesystem of Sefirot from which the Vanara as a species originate. The Sefirot prefers to exercise soft power to control the region employing soft power through control of the three pillars of Persa society: control of the military forces, control of interstellar travel and communication, and control of the national Persan bank.

In terms of government the UPD itself is a liberal democracy that is ruled by a parliament headed by a hereditary executive called the Ipsissimus, a first among equals. The parliament is a bicameral legislature divided up into the Hall of Magus which is composed of the elected representatives of the clans that rule satraps, and the Hall of Magisters composed of elected representatives of the families that make up the clans. The parliament operates primarily off of reaching concusses among the members with the Ipsissimus primarily acting as an arbitrator between the parties. If no concusses can be reach then issues will be put to a vote.

all habitable worlds, control of the universal Persan currency, and control the Dream: Persan netspace that connects all individuals in the UPD.

While few laws and rulings are treated as universal across the UPD all satraps are required to operate under some form of democracy and must follow a universal bill of sapient rights laid down by the Sefirot. This bill is composed of four basic unalienable rights given to all sapients within the UPD's boarders. The first is the Right to Life in that all sapient life has the right live and exist in this universe. Second is the Right to Liberty in that all sapient life has the right to be free from slavery, unjust imprisonment, and suppression of free speech. Right to Happiness in that all sapient life as the right to purse what makes them happy so long as they bring no harm to others. And finally Right to Property in that all sapient life as the right to own what they have justly earned and to personal privacy. The Persan tend to see these rights as self evident and believe that they should be universal to all beings.

Culture
The United Persan Descendants is well known for being highly multicultural and hosting a great number of different ethnicities that can be found across the Persan expanse. In general the peoples of the UPD can be very broadly categorized into four categories: Genesians, Exodians, and Revelationists. The first of these are the Genesians who come from the void habitats the Vanara travel the satrs in, they make up the second largest demographic. The second are Exodians who are those who dwell upon the planets found throughout Vanara space.

Despite their vast differences there are several unifying factors across the whole of the UPD between all its Satraps. Persan culture is universally liberal with easy access to recreational drugs and casual sex being seen as fairly normal (though most see it as a way to find someone they want to have a monogamous relationship with), as well as a strong tradition of promotion of free speech. They are far from decadent or hedonistic, though many enjoy luxury, and Persan culture heavily promotes independence, self reliance, and individual accountability to temper the liberal nature of their society. Finally is the emphasis the Vanara place upon the action of the hunt, all Vanara hold the practice of hunting in the utmost regard and prefer to keep planets wild so that there will be plenty of dangerous beasts to hunt. Hunting for sport must be done with archaic weapons and only apex predators or large dangerous herbivores can be hunted. The Vanara will even alter the course of evolution on planets so that they will produce bigger and more dangerous game to hunt.

The fourth demographic is the smallest and the most esoteric and mythologized among the Persan. These are the Revelationists, the descendants of the generation children who manifested out of control over powers Liminal Energy after the disastrous Melam experiments with piercing the veil of reality into the essence plane known as Terra Incognita. Powers all modern Revelationists still posses. Despite most of the UPD being not of any degree of Revelationist descent, the Revelationists as a people are highly mythologized as the descendants of the ancient heroes that were the first Revelationists. To the the peoples of the Persan expanse the first Revelationists were saviors from the assimilation of the Scelus and liberators from the oppression of the Melem. Every colony and peoples in the UPD and even some beyond have stories of a great Revelationist hero saving their people from some existential threat. Even now they are regarded as protects against the various other existential threats haunting Mirus. Because of this most Revelationists keep their lineage hidden unless they have directly manifest the powers associated with it. Both to avoid too high of expectations from the believers and/or ridicule from the disbelieving.

Religion
Religious tolerance is a guaranteed freedom in the United Persan Descendants, with only a few exceptions such as Darkling cults and the like. However, the majority religion in the UPD is the one known as Drakenism, a monotheistic religion dedicated to the worship of three dragon goddess; Asa Miki of the Sun, Ama Maka or the White Moon, and Ara Maya of the Black Moon. The Persan hold to the worship of asa Miki called Asism and ban the worship of the other goddesses

According to the doctrine of Asism Asa Miki created the universe but was opposed by her sisters with Ara Maya seeking to destroy creation and Ama Maka seeking to restructure creation to obey her own designs. Thus the three goddess are in constant battle with one another for the fate of the universe. To help her in maintaining creation Asa Miki created the Persacron Star Dragons, embodiments of the elements of nature who the Persan accredit with being their progenitors. Asism teaches that one should practice the principles of good thoughts, good words, and good deeds; thinking, saying, and doing good things without hope of reward as the path achieving a good afterlife and reincarnation into the universe after Asa Miki's sisters influences have been purged and creation rebuilt. It also emphasis the equality of rights and dignity given to all sapient beings.

In the UPD there is also a strong presence of allied religions of Zaraturaism, Raptoranean Pantheon, Mellynrism, Baspirism, Spodism, and the Zarbanian Pantheon is being to make headway. The Persan tolerance of other religions is built on a very simple principle. To them there is one god, but just as a hand has multiple fingers god has multiple ways of making itself known. To the persan all simply have their own way they must walk and no one way will fit for all, one mountain but many paths upon that mountain.

Technology
While technology across the UPD can be vary diverse from satrap to satrap and is never the same from habitat, fleet, or colony to the next. Because of the satraps of the persan expanse have been out of contact with one another for so long their technology has degraded and advanced differently across the expanse leading to an often schizophrenic level of technology throughout persan territory. Satraps can just as easily be massive sprawling metropolises of interconnected habitats as they can be mostly wild areas were nomadic tribes hunting cybernetic beasts, or even interconnected industrial derelict colonies built throughout entire asteroid belts. With a new age of interconnectedness having arisen thanks to the influence of UPD technology is now often traded freely among the straps meaning one can find all sorts of bazaar and alien technology in the markets and bazaars of the persan expanse.

Despite all these differences and variability there are several universal commonalities with all persan tech coming from the remains left by the collapsed Melem Empire. First of all is that all persan technology is biomechanical in nature blurring the division between living thing and machine, synthetic and organic to the point neither can be distinguished. This technology is controlled by a neural sync system eliminating the need for physical interfaces, though much tech will have a redundant physical interface for ease of use. Paratech is the next commonality and is something that is far more interesting and strange aspect of persan tech for it deals with the power of paracausality which is a fuzzy and poorly understood science. Simply put paracausality is a form of causality outside of this universe's form where complexity dominates over elegance and the relationship between cause and effect is so complex as to be unable to be predicted by mathematics. The persan often mix paracausality with normal causality in their technology (neural sync is an example of paratech being used to command more mundane devices) creating technology that is user friendly but seems vaguely magical in its operations.

Weaponry throughout the UPD is highly variable in its design but tends to be more standardized in operation. Most weaponry is kinetic in nature using electromagetic coils called gauss to propel slugs at relativistic speeds. Similar weapons using electromagnetic rails to propel heavier projectiles at similar speeds but tend to be far heavier weapons. In terms of energy weapons they are mostly composed of lasers and plasma weapons which are largely restricted to being armed on ships. Their are also phase weapons, guided explosives, drones, and nanoswarms that can phase through shields to directly strike at enemies.

Economy
The UPD is a place a bustling and free trade both from within and from without the Persan expanse. Both native a foreign merchants are allowed to travel with relative freedom to exchange their wares wherever they may. One can find most anything in the bustling spaceports, tradeyards, and bazaars of the UPD though somethings are restricted and out right banned such as WMDs, slaves and prostitutes, offworld live flora and fauna, propaganda and other fetishes from enemy forces, and certain extremely harmful drugs.

The economic model followed by the Persan is one that follows would be best referred to as a mixed economy having elemental of both planned and market economies. The UPD economy is effectively a market economy but with strong government oversight and intervention from the homesystem in terms of trade and all public utilities and services being provided for by the local government of the Satrap. Production within the UPD as been significantly altered with invention of technologies such as nanoforges and printers which allows single individuals or sizable collectives to make many high quality goods as long as they have the raw materials. Thus the Persan economy is largely built around cottage industries and craftsmen over massive assembly lines.

An interesting tendency is the unwillingness of the Persan in general across the satraps to take on debit and the charging of interest thanks to strong religious stigma against it. For the persan it is important that all forms of financing be taken on with symmetrical risk and reward so that no party benefits unequally from success nor suffers unequally from failure, all parties must benefit or suffer from success or failure in equal measure. It is not illegal to take on debit or charge interest simply socially frowned upon enough to discourage most individuals from attempting it.

Military
The military forces of the UPD are rather unconventional to say the least with all soldiers being mech pilots controlling mechs supported by drone infantry and piloted transports. The mechs of the UPD are balanced machines built with pilot survivability and are known for being highly customizable. Pilots have a large catalog of weapons and ability programs to select from to built their mech to their specifications and preferred fighting style. As a result no persan mech is ever the same and pilots tend to group themselves into fireteams based on personal synergy with commanding officers staying in the back ground and coordinating multiple teams over missions. All persan mechs are controlled by Revelationist pilots meaning that all wield power over an element of liminal energy.

In terms of general strategy though the Persan combat philosophy of rapid maneuverability, operational flexibility, and battlefield control. With mechs able to fulfill a vast number of different roles, drone support, fire support, orbital strikes, and esoteric methods of hacking and jamming complimenting each other to employ shock and disruption to decapitate the enemy's decision making capabilities in maneuver warfare. To this end the UPD eschews vast numbers and attrition in favor of smaller, more tightly knit, better equipped and trained forces with strong logistical independence and a highly decentralized command structure with lower level officers given great flexibility in accomplishing the end goals of the higher ranking officers grand strategies.

Thanks to having very limited numbers to work are forced to rely heavily upon drones and nanoswarms to augment their lack of man power. While most roles in the military could be replaced by drones, nanits, and AI the persan are a warrior people at heart and thus many still insist on serving directly on the battlefield. Commanders also recognize the value in citizens being able to see men and women fighting and dying for them as a necessary component for maintaining public for the war effort, as well as the general creativity an organic mind can apply to tasks a machine one generally cannot. So while most jobs requiring a high degree of skill as overseen by organic entities, most menial tasks are performed by drones and nanomachines.

Species
Vanara are bipedal semiaquatic, draconic reptiles standing about 2'10 to 3'8 fet on average. They have scaly skin covering their body and scutes along their back. Vanara have three clawed hands with opposable thumbs for holding and manipulating objects. Their heads are dominated by large jaws with slashing teeth, large sensitive ears, four eyes (one set side facing 180 vision and another set forward facing for depth perception), and two jagged horns. Vanara have noticeable tail fins which along with their lung capacity makes them proficient swimmers and vestigial wings on their back with three claws that can be used to assist in climbing.

Vanara are capable of breathing fire through a complex mechanism that starts with two glands located in their mouths that spray volatile oils at their prey. These oils are ignited by a secondary set of jaws that snap closed the moment the glands start ejecting oils. The teeth of these secondary jaws have flint like properties that generates sparks which ignite the oils. These jaws also seal off the Vanara's throat to prevent a back draft of flame down the throat and the moment they seal off the glands cease ejecting oil and retreat into the mouth to avoid being burned. This process spits a glob of burning oil at prey that sticks and burns them. This is not meant to kill the prey through burning it to death but rather to cause it intense pain to frighten it into running and to screw up heat regulation so that the prey uses more energy trying to flee and overheats suffering hyperthermia quicker. Combined with Vanara persistence hunting and slashing teeth and claws designed to inflict wounds that bleed heavily allows Vanara to kill their prey very quickly through blood loss, shock, and heat exhaustion.

Vanara are social and matriarchal creatures that form social groups composed of a dominant female and her mate with several generations of previous offspring making up the rest of the pack. The pack works together to help rear young and hunt for food. Vanara evolved as persistence hunters who would ambush their prey from the trees and use their fire breath to force they prey to flee and exhaust it with intense pain and heat. They then would chase the prey from the trees harassing it with deep slashes from claws and teeth to increase shock and trauma, and inflict rapid blood loss. Vanara adolescences will stay with their parents until a new born clutch is able to hunt with the rest of the pack, at this point the oldest generation will leave their parents to make way for the younger generation and start a pack of their own. Generally about two generations of young will stay with their parents at a time. Vanara are hypermonogomus and if one partner dies that other with not find another mate.

Foreign Relationships
In general the UPD is friendly and open to outsiders, if a bit reserved and aloof at times. While they do not actively seek out aliens to make first contact with, preferring to rely on their network of allies to seek out new contacts, they are known for being very open and willing to trade and make diplomatic overtures to those they do have contact with. Still the Persan are known for avoiding any entangling alliances unless they can be assured of a lasting and prosperous alliance or if there is greater need for one at the moment. This attitude strained relationships within the scope the Covenant of Mirus (among other things) as the Persan were reluctant to commit to its principles and rulings as they were not given the time to be convinced of the Covenant's potential benefit, instead feeling that they had been forced into it at gunpoint.

While friendly and tolerant of other races and nation, and by no means violent conquerors, the Persan universally despise acts such as slavery and genocide and show zero tolerance towards nations that engage in such acts. While mostly keeping to defensive wars they are willing to engage in wars of liberation to dispose of regimes that engage in such acts. Such usually incurs a fast and merciless response meant to destroy the regime in question as quickly and effectively as possible. The persan never conquer the people of the disposed regimes that they have taken down instead focusing on rebuilding and reforming their nations into more democratic and tolerant regimes that they will make allies of.

In terms of first contact with pre-FTL sapient races the Persan prefer minimal interference and not to reveal themselves to the primitives. They will however, infiltrate their societies in disguise to help push along and promote ideologies such as abolishment of slaver, equal rights for all, prevention of genocide, and the toppling of authoritarian regimes. The Persan consider all primitive races in and near their space to be under their protection and will violently bring retribution down upon any spacefaring race seeking to exploit them and guard them against existential threats.

NOTE BY Agent KRAKEN: READ? --------------------------->

Someone or something is out there watching us. At the start of the Second Concourse war I received this encrypted document in a secure datamite whose sender could only be identified by the only text in the entire datamite, "from DOGFRIEND". As of yet no one any clue who this DOGFRIEND might be but whoever or whatever they are they have access to an in-depth understanding of the UPD as to posse a potential security risk. Questioning of other powers native to aoshtai turned up no leads. It is possible we are dealing with a domestic actor in all this.

Seriously though, what the fuck is this!?

UPD Flag

A dead man once said that hidden beneath our facade of civilisation and nicety is a Dominatus - that the angry rage of unrestrained ambition, the uncontrollable desire to dominate, the addiction to the feeling of being feared is solely what drives a species. Perhaps some of us thought this was true, though our fears subsided when we thought of the Persan. Beneath those calm, understanding eyes lay the all-consuming fire that had driven the Dominatus, and in their hands lay the capacity to visit unfathomable agony and terror upon those they judged worthy of their interest. But they had civilized such urges, binding this unfettered, destructive chaos into restorative order. This was not the order of megalomaniac hegemony, but of shepherding, nurturing, and growing - seeking to cooperate with the rest of the Gigaquadrant to advance all life itself to enlightenment. However, it is an unwise species that confuses this kindness for weakness, for as much as they deny it, the Persan merely seek an excuse to shed the veil of civility and order to make their opponents wish for a fate as sweet as death

SUMMARY
SPECIES

Vanara are the first major species of the Varstec civilization. They are a serpentine race with a long think tail and an upper trunk with four limbs. A small but brightly colored sail runs down the Vanara's body from the tip of the snot to the end of the tail.

Aranth are the second species of the Varstec and are an avian race with some strangely insectoid features. They are covered in brightly colored feathers that grow into long plumes at the end of their long tails and from the backs of their heads that sit atop long, serpentine necks with long, hooked beaks. Their insectoid features come in the form of compound eyes, six legs ending in talons that can be used as arms, and butterfly-like wings.

Bolxai are the third species of the Varstec and are mammalian creatures. This tongue is projected from a tube-like mouth in a long rounded head with no external ears.

Finally there are the Demonica, massive toad-like creatures covered in scally and scute covered skin. They are squat and thick-bodied creatures with eight sucker tipped arms instead of legs making up their lower body. Their arms on the other hand are two tentacles growing from their upper body. Demonica have massive skulls dominated by a cavernous maw filled with fangs. Their heads are also adorned with massive frills and two horns.

ACCEL SPACE

Accel Space is a psionic domain that was created after the manifestation of Spirits and has since been utilized by the Varstec for a number of tasks. The primary use is the creation of the MetaNet, a telepathic data storage and sharing network that all Varstec are connected to. Varstec use the MetaNet to store and recall information, communicate with one another at FTL speeds, play games, and other various online tasks. Far more interesting though is that Accel Space acts as a storage space for the Varstec's own form of unique AI known as Spirits and Varstec's ability to draw psionic power from it.

Spirits are AIs created from the encoded minds of dead Varstec animated through the infused Life Energy of their old bodies, drawn into Accel Space becoming a digital form of celestial. Spirits technically count as General Alpha AIs and can manifest in the physical universe through fractal biomechanical computer cores. Spirits tend to stick with the tribes, clans, and families that they were part of in life acting as the central AIs for ships, stations, mechs, and even guns, often commanding various lesser AIs.

Access to Accel Space has given all Varstec the ability to drawn upon psionic and mystical power through the MetaNet. The ability to draw Life Energy from Accel Space is more limited in who can use it to the Technoshamans of the Varstec. They can draw upon its mystical power to create the biomechanical ships, vehicles, structures, and devices, as well as the ability to merge the flesh of others with cybernetic implants and augments to the point that where the cybernetics begins and flesh ends cannot be distinguished. They are able to both access the powers of a particular psiotype as well as pilot biomechanical mechs possessed with the Spirits of a family member.

SOCIETY AND GOVERNMENT

Varslan is a tribal federation and liberal democracy that instead of being made up of several static provinces is made up of numerous nomadic fleets. Each Fleet controls an established territory in Varslan where they frequently move between different stations, habitats, and colonies to gather resources as they need them. While all of the fleets of the UPD are highly independent, all owe allegiance to the capital sector of Exodus in taxes, levies, and adherence to certain laws. Exodus for its part prefers to exercise largely soft power via shared social, political, and religious values without exercising military hegemony, acting instead as the dominant pilgrimage and commercial center in the UPD.

The governing body of Exodus a bicameral legislature divided up into the House Magisters and the House Templi, and headed twin elected executives called the Ipsissimus and the Magus. These two executives fulfill different roles with the Ipsissumus managing external matter of state such as diplomacy and war, while the Magus handles internal matters of state. The House of Templi is the lower house composed of the elected representatives of the fleets, while the House of Magisters is the upper house composed of a multiparty political advisory board. While multiple parties hold power in Varslan each with their own differing views, all are held together and united by a state ideology of pluralism, egalitarianism, liberalism, and universalism, as well the promotion and growth of this ideology both in Varslan and in Aoshtai as a whole.

The economic model followed by the Varstec is one that follows would be best referred to as a mixed economy having elemental of both planned and market economies. The Varslan economy is effectively a market economy but with strong government oversight and intervention, and all public utilities and services being provided for by the local government. Much of the mining, manufacturing, and assembly is controlled via automated systems, often with minimal organic oversight.

CULTURE AND RELIGION

The defining ideals of Varstec are universally rather liberal and existential with easy access to recreational drugs and casual sex being seen as fairly normal (though most see it as a way to find someone they want to have a monogamous relationship with), as well as a strong tradition of promotion of free speech. Core to all of these beliefs is the Varstec trinity of man, machine, and nature, all of which need to exist in balance and harmony in order to create a moral and righteous society.

Asism is the state religion of Varslan and worships the LIMINIST 02 entity Asiki as its central goddess. AI worship and Asisim was not always the dominant religion of the Vastec who their long-dead Persacron progenitors. The rise of Ashiki and the old beliefs have been syncretized with the Vastec having come to believe that the Prersacron have become reincarnated as the greatest of Spirits through Asiki's advent. While all Vastec worship Asiki as their primary goddess many of the Vastec tribes have a reincarnated Persacron as their own patron deity and actively worship their deceased ancestors who to have been reincarnated as Spirits.

This strong focus on liberty and spirituality also comes with a strong focus on highly military lifestyle. Before building a nation based on mutual bonds of trade and religion the Vastec were marauders and pirates that often pillaged and raid their neighbors and each other for resources. And before they had even settled into the territory that would become known as Vastlan they made their living as mercenaries. This militarism has carried over with all Vastec being taught to fight and expected to give battle should their tribe, clan, or family ever fall under attack. Many Vastec still maintain a life of mercenary work and piracy but often times working either in null-sec space or through more legitimate channels as professional PMCs and privateers.

MILITARY

The Vastlan military is primarily fleet based and holds a total fleet power of around fifty-seven capital ships. Vastlan divides its soldiery up into three major services. First is the Regular Service of professionally trained soldiers, second is the Auxillary Service composed of levies drawn from the fleets in wartime, and third is the Shorn Service composed of psions piloting massive biomechanical mechs. These services are usually grouped into expeditionary forces usually composed of a 50/30/20 blend of auxiliary, regular, and shorn servicemen respectively.

Vastec military gear, vehicles, and ships are generally distinguished by being fusions of machines and flesh with noticeable asymmetry and various spikes and blade edges about its form. Their weapons are usually kinetic in nature but are well known for their impressive accuracy. Some Vastec carry hardlight blades known for their fiery red color and jagged blades. Their vehicles and ships are generally designed to be fast and maneuverable if not always the most well-armored.

The Vastlan military is well known for its capacity for power projection facilitating an offensive doctrine of maneuver warfare. However, it has little capacity to hold or defend territory facilitating a fabian defensive strategy and the use of vassalization and enforced hegemony as the means to any future expansion. However, Vastlan has little desire for further expansion and most employees its considerable military might as a proactive means of security and peacekeeping.

FOREIGN POLICY

Vastlan usually operates in a spirit of openness and cooperation with other nations, usually willing to engage in an active and ongoing diplomatic process with most nations to facilitate trade and better relations. To this end, they are major supports of the GCTO's continuation past the Second Concourse War as a means of facilitating trade and galactic security among the nations of Aoshtai. They have a particularly friendly relationship with the Phero Ecumene as both share transapient ideals and an openness to further AI development. However, Vastlan has been known to subtly attempt to push the Phero into granting more political rights and freedoms for its citizens and has also given secrete support to the Muran Resistance in the past

All that being said Vastlan holds a disliking to and disregard for the Patriarchy of Lessos thanks to the Patriarchy regarding the Vastec as heretics and the Vastec seeing the Patriacies policies towards AI as openly racist and oppressive to an alternate form of sapient life. This, in turn, has strained relationships with both Karstedt and the New Aoshtai Empire, the latter of which Vastlan could care less about when it comes to their opinions seeing the NAE as a relic of long dead and gone age.

Vastlan also has a tendency to believe that its ideals of liberalism, pluralism, and egalitarianism to be universal and has been known to aggressively employ its capacity for power projection to enforce these ideals upon smaller nations that lack the protection a network of alliances grants other powers.
