Note that this has been slated as NON-CANON, and is simply an older story based on a concept that was more recently delved on by this story.

Humanity was known by all sentient life to be the most powerful species that ever ruled the galaxy. But after they left, their history was lost forever. Only their technology remained from those days, and it has since spread to all life in the Galaxy. But for 3 billion years, what caused them to leave the galaxy remained a mystery. Until the Jovar Empire discovered an ancient manuscript, torn and faded, but still legible. Because of this manuscript, the galaxy now knows what led to their rise, and their ultimate demise. This is their story...

22nd Century

Earth. Ninety-three million miles away from its star, Sol. And home planet of humanity. But even in the 22nd Century, humans have yet to travel to another star. Humanity is now more violent than ever, having had countless wars for a small dot in space. Yet, there are still sane people out there.

And the hero of humanity is a man named Jim Smith. A refuge of war in the United States, he has seen firsthand what war does to people. And he was determined to unify the world. Once and for all. Through years of campaigning, he rose to power as USA's newest and last president, and stopped all wars brought before him. With his powerful speech ability, he was able to persuade countries to join USA, even countries like China and Russia.

And in about 10 years, the world was one. He then called the world's best scientist to create an engine that would allow humans to travel beyond Earth. By the end of the century, human had gone to their first target stars, Sirius A and Betelgeuse.

23rd - 25th Century

Humanity continued to travel throughout the stars. They colonized hundreds of planets in a matter of years, but were yet to discover another species besides themselves.

Finally in the year 2489 another species was discovered. Nicknamed the Iopic, they were quite friendly to the humans. An alliance was forged, and soon other species were discovered.

Of course, as all stories go, there would eventually be a war with another species. The Yoris, a hostile species, declared war on humanity in 2497 earthyear when an attack on the colony Endeavor occurred. The attack was an utter failure, but it would spark a war that would devastate both Humanity and Yorinian.

26th Century

Two things in this century altered humanity forever: the supernova of Betelgeuse and first contact with the Grox.

The yorinian-human war was brought to an end in a few years, with a human victory at the yorian home planet. With the home planet devastated, the yorians surrendered, and peace was finally achieved, with a cost. Nearly 10 billion lives were lost on both sides, and much of the human empire was devastated. But reconstruction began quickly. Within a few years after the war, humanity had spread its empire from a few planets to thousands of planets all over the Galaxy.

But in 2559, Betelgeuse went supernova. Its orbital axis had changed position at the last second, and their home planet, Earth, was devastated by the gamma ray burst it created. Although a few lifeforms survived, the ozone was destroyed, and by 2561, Earth was a lifeless rock in space.

The new capital, Rigel IV, was then suddenly attacked in 2583 by an unknown enemy, but they called themselves the Grox.

27th - 28th Century

They were small and frail, relying on mechanical parts to live. But they were cunning, much like our species. Maybe even more cunning. Who would've known something so frail could be so devastating?

They attacked with brute force. Massive armies, massive fleets, heck even their guns were big. Actually, HUGE. But the one thing that we had that was bigger was our desire to love our species enough to save it. Thats the only reason we survived...

Unknown Human Soldier, of the 5th Battalion.

The Rigel IV attack was the beginning of a war that would not only devastate the Humans and Grox, but also the rest of the sentient species of the Milky Way. Although Rigel VI was saved from utter destruction, the Humans would soon learn that the invasion fleet was more of a scouting party for a much larger force. In a desperate situation, nearly every human spacecraft available was sent to the capital.

But the Grox smiled at the sight of this. Their plan had worked. The "fleet" was nothing more than empty cargo ships with android pilots. The Humans had been fooled, and they knew it. But it was too late. In an instant, thousands of distress calls were relayed from all over the empire. The true fleet had spread out to the now-lightly defended colonies. One by one, they fell. It became clear in no time that the Humans had their hands full.

The Grox seemed to have every advantage. Larger ships and armies, larger guns, larger brains. But there was one thing the Grox didn't have: the zeal and desire to protect their own species; it was exactly what the humans had.

The war dragged on for 200 more years. Both empires hit one another with a furious bombardment of troops, tanks, and ships. One by one, each empire collapsed further and further into turmoil. At a certain period of the war, each empire was left with about 10 planets apiece.

At this point, the humans decided to launch their final offensive. It was extremely risky to invade the Grox homeplanet, but it had to be done, or else the war may not have ever ended. The invasion commenced only weeks after the plan was conceived.

At first, the battle was an epic disaster. But the tide suddenly turned when a major Grox advantage, their Mothership, was destroyed in orbit. The human troops saw the large explosion in the sky, and they were inspired to win the battle. In the end, the homeplanet was devastated so horribly that its atmosphere was stripped entirely, and portions of its surface were blasted off by Human crafts.

29th Century

Both sides were devastated. A truce was officially declared on June 23rd, 3019. But at this point, it was too late to rebuild. Every human colony was left in ruins. Billions of lives had been lost. And to make matters worse, the truce wasn't permanent. And humanity feared that when the truce was over, they would be attacked again.

So the leaders of the Human Race had two options: Leave the galaxy, or try to rebuild and prepare for a second war.

Ultimately, the decision was made to leave that galaxy forever. What little of what was left prepared to make the greatest departure of all. They were leaving everything behind. Old allies, great enemies, their legacy. And Earth. The planet that had been destroyed by the Betelgeuse supernova. They were leaving their home planet behind. But they had to. And they knew it.

But they wouldn't let their entire legacy be diminished from a single entity's attempts to destroy them. In an effort to bring hope to the Galaxy, the humans created large probes with DNA molecules hitching a ride with them. They would be shot at target planets all over the galaxy. And their DNA helped shape their destiny: it was engineered so that no matter what, they would eventually destroy the Grox.

Thousands of these probes were launched from the scorched desert wasteland of Earth in a single day. A day later, humanity said its final goodbyes to the Milky Way. And at 6:14 A.M., on January 16, 3021, the human race officially left the galaxy. Except for one ship. It strayed off course, and was hit by a stray asteroid. It crash landed on a small planet. The only thing in it was a dead space captain, and a manuscript that had recorded every single even in human history for the past millennium.

Three billion years later...

Humans have been all but forgotten. Their technology, once isolated only to them, was taken up for grabs when they left the Galaxy. Since then, billions of empires, young, old, and even dead ones alike, used their technology, the most advanced ever seen. And the Galactic Code set up by the humans is still used. Meanwhile, Earth has somehow regenerated life, which is a miracle in itself since the increase of solar activity should have made the planet too hot, and yet it didn't.

Meanwhile, the Grox still existed as strongly as ever. Their empire has since rebuilt itself, although it has been limited to the core region only. However, they remain a constant threat to all empires.

But the biggest story is the success of the human's space probe. The probe crashed landed into a planet known as Jora. The chemicals mixed in the primordial oceans, creating cells that evolved into multicellular creatures, that eventually crawled on land. And one species, collectively known as the Jovar, gained sentience. And by the time they reached space, they made it their destiny to defeat the Grox

After all, it is in their DNA...
