History and Purpose

The Grand Legion of Tyris Major, also known as the Tyris Legion, serves as the primary ground infantry and boarding party of the United Knights Alliance. This multi-species legion of soldiers was created to defend Tyris Major against any internal and external threats using the most recent advancements in war-based technology.

In the year 1371 AD, King Glynn of the Volver Empire suggested that members of the newly formed United Knights Alliance pool together resources to create a formidable force to defend themselves against future threats. The other empires agreed to this and by 1382 AD the Grand Legion of Tyris Major was officially founded. The Legion would go on to fight in many for the next 1,700 years within and outside of Tyris Major alongside their Mirusian allies.

The Grand Legion of Tyris Major's forces would be later incorporated into the Unified Alliance of Enlightenment's primary ground forces alongside the Unified Federation of Glory's Grand Legion.

Composition

The Grand Legion of Tyris Major is composed of the military of the Volver, Soldarian, Antroth, and Hyperon, along with the levies of vassal-states of the United Knights Alliance. The bulk of the ground infantry is made up of Volver and Soldarians, while the navy primarily consists of Soldarians and Hyperon. Antroths make up the bulk of the medical support and Essence corps. While the Volver are primarily ground focused, plenty of Volver can be found in other roles among the Legion, due to their incredible adaptability.

Legions

The Grand Legion's soldiers are organized into battalions known as Legions. Most Legions are generalists, trained for a variety of combat situations. Others are specialists, trained for specific combat situations, typically outshining the generalist Legions in specific areas.

Primary Infantry

The primary infantry of the UKA is comprised of soldiers of the multiple races of the UKA that utilize the military technologies of the alliance. There are currently around 170 billion infantry units enlisted within the Grand Legion of Tyris Major. Each soldier is classified into specialized units that undergo gene therapy and intense combat training. These units typically wear layered armor, an under-suit and Ukanium plate armor on top. While each unit is given specific weapons based on their classification, each knight is allowed to receive certification to use other types of weapons.

Units

UKA Knight Soldarian

The UKA's primary and most numerous infantry unit and the namesake of their alliance. Knights of the UKA are actually inspired by the Volver Empire's Volver Knight Legions. These soldiers are trained to deal with combat situations in a number of hostile environments. Knights wear a UKA Elite Battle Suit underneath a full set of UKA Standard Battle Armor with an integrated UKA Portable Shield Generator. They also carry a UKA Battle Pack, which contains all of their extra ammo magazines, UKA Bio Gel, and UKA Ration Pacts. As far as weapons, Knights of the UKA are issued one standard issue UKA-BR/SR-07 and one standard issue UKA-BP/P2-22. Knights are allowed to modify these weapons, within reason, to make them more personalized (performance, appearance, etc.). Each knight can also receive specific training for melee weapons if they wish to carry them into battle. Swords, Spears, and other melee weapons are available to Knights of the UKA. Knights are also trained in the various martial arts of UKA member empires, allowing them to be deadly even when unarmed.

UKA Legionnaire Nataak

The UKA Legionnaire are seen as a heavier version of the UKA Knights. They carry heavier grade weapons and wear a UKA Elite Battle Suit underneath a full set of a double-plated variant of the UKA Standard Battle Armor. They also carry a UKA Battle Pack, which contains all of their extra ammo magazines, UKA Bio Gel, and UKA Ration Pacts. All Legionnaires carry a standard issue UKA-BR/EVBR-02, which they have dubbed the "V2-Eradicator" due to its amazing firepower and muzzle velocity. Legionnaires are even seen using UKA-BR/MLBR-05's, also known as "05 Launchers", which makes them excellent anti-tank units. Legionnaires are allowed to receive certification for other battle rifles and battle pistols for use on the battlefield, though most stick with their standard issue weapons. Their training and tactics include advancing aggressively on enemy forces while also providing heavy cover-fire for the other UKA infantry units. These soldiers are typically from the Soldarian, Nataak, or Doopy species due to their superior strength in comparison to the other UKA member species. Like all units within the UKA military, Legionnaires are trained in the various martial arts of UKA member empires, allowing them to be deadly even when unarmed.

UKA Battle Mage

UKA Battle Mages are a class comprised solely of female Antroths who have mastered some of the offensive applications of the Antroth Mystic Arts. Due to their preference on wearing light armor, they are considered to be light infantry units that usually fight behind the Legionnaires and Knights. Their primary weapon is a Antroth Battle Staff, which on its own is a powerful and unique weapon exclusively used by Antroths. Despite having access to Antroth magic, UKA Battle Mages also carry standard issue a UKA-BP/P2-22 as their sidearm.

The main role of the Battle Mages is to deliver massive amounts of damage to enemy vehicles and heavy infantry, as their magic is potent enough to shred right through most shielding systems and metals. Since their magic is unique to the Antroth species, many foes have no real way to counter it aside from investing in stronger, more expensive shielding. Even then, more experienced Battle Mages can not only find a workaround for this, but also enhance their allies with a sort of "enhancement spell" to improve their battle performance.

UKA Guardian Antroth

The UKA Guardians are a purely defensive class. They are mostly made up of Antroths (Males), Volver and Helmore. Antroth males make excellent defensive units due to their extremely durable exoskeleton and tenacity. Helmore infantry units are typically well trained in the art of fighting defensively, and most of them enlist to be a part of the Guardians. Volver are great all-around fighters, though they excel when given a shield to use in combat. All Guardians come equipped with a standard issue UKA-BR/SR-07 and a UKA Greatshield. Antroth Guardians wear UKA Battle Cloaks with their battle armor and an Antroth Battle Staff, whereas Helmore and Volver Guardians prefer the standard issue loadout.

Guardians are deployed as an occupying force, holding defensive lines and any positions that the offensive units have claimed. They also serve as elite security guards in key UKA locations.

UKA Paladins

UKA Paladins are the primary heavy troops of the UKA. UKA Paladins are equipped with the powerful standard issue UKA-BR/AP2BR-10 and wear either AEGIS V-1 or AEGIS V-2 Powered Assault Armor on top of their UKA Standard Battle Armor and UKA Elite Battle Suit. Soldarians and Nataak are the primary species within the UKA Paladin corps., being the only ones willing to use the Variant One and Variant two AEGIS Powered Assault Armors. These soldiers are mostly deployed against heavily armored infantry units, enemy vehicles, or on worlds with rather hostile environments.

A single Paladin is extremely strong and durable thanks to their AEGIS armor, and are extremely difficult to defeat if backed up by more Paladins or other infantry units. One Paladin is said to be worth 10 Knights or Legionnaires, both in combat efficiency and in monetary cost.

The UKA Ultra-Knight is the pinnacle of the UKA's ground forces. They are typically Soldarians and Doopy due to their average height, strength and durability. Ultra-Knights wear the advanced UKA AEGIS V-3 Powered Assault Armor, allowing them to carry heavy ordinance and be nigh-untouchable while in combat. Ultra-Knights are few in number due to the monetary cost it takes to train and equip them, but they are well worth the money. One Ultra Knight is worth a platoon of regular UKA Knights, thanks to their AEGIS V-3. Ultra Knights are deployed to strike hard at the enemy forces, being capable of handling enemy heavy infantry, vehicles, and can withstand high amounts of damage. They also come equipped with a standard issue UKA-BR/AP2BR-10 as well as a UKA AEGIS Greatsword.

Secondary Infantry (Member Armies)

Volver Empire

There are currently 27.8 billion Volver Imperial Soldiers in active duty, 16.7 billion of which are enlisted as infantry units.

Volver Imperial Army

The Volver Imperial Army is the true front-line offence for the Volver Empire. The army mostly consists of Volver, though it's ranks are open to all United Knights Alliance member species. These ground infantry units mostly specialize in close quarters combat using bladed weapons and advanced protective armor. Other units are equipped with a number of rifles and pistols that are authorized for legal use with in UKA territory. They are separated into base units and advanced units to reflect rank and skill.

Volver Knight Legions

Considered a separate Volver-only force, Volver Knights are the absolute pinnacle of their infantry units. Trained from adolescence, each Volver Knight is hand picked for their combat prowess, intelligence, and their ability to uphold the Volver Code of Honor. All are trained in multiple styles of swordsmanship, marksmanship, and the Volver Martial Arts. They come equipped with Volver-Class Storm Rifles, collapsible Fabricated-Alphorium blades, and the standard UKA Elite Battle Suits. Each legion is also lead by a Knight Commander, who generally has at least 100 or so years of combat experience under their belt. There are currently 50 Knight Legions in active service, all composed of at least 200 to 1000 active knights. There are usually at most 50,000 knights in active duty at a time. This is because Knights take a very long time to train and equip in comparison to the rest of the Volver military, thus they are much fewer in number than other Volver infantry units. Despite this they still manage to be a recognizable and formidable force to be reckoned with.

Soldarian Empire

The Soldarian Empire's infantry, while impressive, is quite limited in size on its own. However it is still quite the force to be reckoned with when backed up by the Grand Pultorian Armada and allies. Soldarians as a species are incredibly physically powerful and durable, so they work as great heavy infantry units.

Grand Pultorian Legion

The Grand Pultorian Legion is an elite legion of Soldarian warriors trained for long and tough battles. This legion consists of various classes, though they all share the burning desire to fight.

Soldarian Super Elites

The Soldarian Super Elites are a small, yet effective, legion of specially trained and biologically enhanced Soldarian soldiers. One Super Elite is oftentimes worth an entire platoon of Pultorian Legionnaires.

Hyperon Grand Khanate

The Hyperon Grand Khanate features some of the most ruthless and violent soldiers in the galaxy. The Nataak as a species are strong, fast, and love a good fight. They are not as durable as the Soldarians and not nearly as disciplined as the Volver, but they are very ferocious combatants who do not relent until the battle is won. They work as great shock troops and heavy infantry units.

Great Hyperon Horde

The Great Hyperon Horde is one of the most vicious and powerful infantry forces in the entire galaxy due to the sheer numbers, strengths, and personalty of the Nataak that fill its ranks. They use rather crude bladed melee weapons and ballistic firearms, and usually stay away from plasma or laser weapons.

Antroth Empire

The Antroth Empire has a small yet formidable infantry force capable of dealing massive amounts of damage to enemy forces. There are two regiments of the Antroth Empire's infantry and they are both mono-gendered.

Antroth Battle Mages

Antroth Battle Mages, known in their own tounge as the Ses'Kali Kuda-Nek are the pride of the Antroth entire military. This legion is comprised of female Antroths who have mastered some of the various offensive applications of the Antroth Mystic Arts.

Antroth Honored Legion

The Antroth Honored Legion is a re-purposed legion of male Antroth warriors specifically trained for invasions. While they lack the magical prowess of their sister legion, the men of the Honored Legion are capable of utilizing basic techniques from the offensive school of the Antroth Mystic Arts.

Deployment

The Grand Legion of Tyris Major is typically deployed on enemy planets via transport ships of drop-pods from a drop ship. While on the ground, the Grand Legion travels on foot or in armored vehicles such as the United Knights Alliance Infantry Transport Vehicle (UKA-ITV).
