The center of history, culture and tourism of the Republic, twelve beautiful worlds standing against the void of space.

- Empress Ramashe

The United Worlds of Calithilaen is an interstellar federal republic native to the Core Worlds of the Cyrannus Galaxy. The unified state of the Libertus, the government of the United Worlds of Calithilaen is based on Capricaerón, one of the Twelve homeworlds of the Libertus located in the quadruple star system of Calithilaen. A largely vestigial body since membership in the Capricorn Sector Alliance was ratified, the United Worlds has nevertheless been an influential voice in various galactic governments, ranging from the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus to the New Cyrannian Republic.

Located along the Republic-controlled eastern fringes of the Core Worlds, many systems fall under the juristication of the United Worlds down the Capricorn Trade Arm, including Cybele, Cyranduas, Apailiana, Hosniaal and Conkobol. However, it is the Twelve Worlds of Calithilaen which gave the unified government its name. he Twelve Worlds orbit four stars – Heran Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta – which orbit around one another around a central barycenter every five hundred and fifty thousand years. Though the Libertus evolved biologically on the capital of the Twelve Worlds, Capricaerón, the influence of the Oikoumene resulted in the seeding of the race on the other eleven planets in the system, resulting in the development of countless unique customs.

It is said that the history of the Twelve Worlds could fill a thousand libraries, with periods such as the Intercolonial Wars and the final battle of the Intergalactic War being well known events which took place in the Four Systems. The Worlds – Ariarona, Taurophon, Gemónaean, Cancerti, Leonae, Virgon, Librae, Scorpiae, Sagittarhon, Capricaerón, Aquaraen and Piconé – are amongst the most important worlds for the Libertus in the galaxy, with most Libertus identifying strongly with their "world", even if their ancestors left many centuries ago.

Libertus early in their history fishing on Capricaerón.

Seventy five million years before the Great Cyrannus War and the rise of the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus, the Calithilaen System made up of Heran Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta was the home of a substantial Oikoumene presence, which studied the planets in great detail, drawn to the unusual circumstance of twelve inhabitable worlds found within the same system. During the Apotheosis Era, Libraé herself settled on Capricaerón, which the Oikoumene deemed CX-1000. Libraé was singularly impressed by the predicted evolution of one particular species, which she predicted to becoming the Oikoumene's eventual successors. In order to safe-guard this species, she placed seeds of this species on eleven ships destined to the eleven habitable planets in the system. Millions of years later, these vessels launched, spreading the now fully developed Libertus across the eleven other worlds.

Intercolonial Wars[]

A Capricaerónn Fleet during the Intercolonial Wars.

Over the next several centuries, Libertus on the Twelve Worlds would develop their civilisation in tandem to their brothers and sisters, each developing an individual culture and society. The Libertus on the planet Virgon were the first to gain the ability to scan the stars for other life, quickly followed by Leonae. Virgon and Leonae quickly lunged from the planetary prisons and established sprawling empires within the system, with Capricaerón and Piconé falling under the Virgonese Empire, while Scorpiae, Taurophon and Cancerti fell under the Leonaen Empire. The remaining colonies remained largely on the fringes of the growing Libertus presence in the system.Within the next several decades, the Twelve Colonies became embroiled in the first Intercolonial War, which saw the end of the Virgonese and Leonaen Empires and the rise of the Capricaerónn Republic and its Taurophonn and Gemenese rivals. The scene was set for the Second Intercolonial War.

In 1615 BNE, Silas Homadama, the dictator of Taurophon declared war on Capricaerón, annoyed due to the planet's growing military power in Heran Alpha as well as its influence in the Outer systems. The war devastated the system and split the colonies into those under the cultural influence of Capricaerón/Virgon and those under the influence of Taurophon/Leonae. When the bloody war ended, the colonies united, forming the United Worlds of Calithilaen, which later became a founding member of the Capricorn Sector Alliance, an interspecies alliance of those within the Capricorn Sector of the Core Worlds.

Unification and Devastation[]

The Trucinex strike Capricaerón.

The Twelve Colonies' place at the centre of such an important interstellar alliance placed it on the targeting ledger of many civilisations down through the years. During the opening stages of the Trucinex War, the Trucinex launched a surprise attack on the Colonies using advanced nuclear weaponry, devastating wide tracks of the Libertus homeworlds that wouldn't be repaired until the Intergalactic War, where even more destruction was visited upon them by the invading Cognatus. The battle with the Cognatus resulted in the utter destruction of Scorpiae and Ariarona while Capricaerón and Taurophon faced heavy damage. Ultimately however, the Cognatus vanished, giving the United Republic of Cyrannus a chance to pick up the pieces.

The Empire[]

By the time the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus came to power, Scorpiae and Ariarona were successfully re-terraformed and re-colonised while Piconé became one of the key centres of the Imperial Fleet. As the Imperial Age dawned, Capricaerón's place as capital of the Colonies and the throne world of the Libertus could no longer be disputed.

Heran Alpha[]

A map of Heran Alpha.

Heran Alpha is known as the capital of the Calithilaen System, as it houses the capital of the Twelve Colonies, Capricaerón, the planet on which the Libertus developed. Much later in the history of the Libertus, did they discover they have twelve closely linked species, the chances of this happening are astronomical, some have even suggested that a divine hand is at work…

Heran Alpha itself is a main sequence star, much like Earth’s own sun and it’s system is filled with astronomical wonders such as minor nebulae, etc. The system’s main stellar objects are:

  • Styx – Styx is a world of molten lava, it is located much too close to Heran Alpha in order to support life. However, recently Republic scientists have researched it, and have built a base on its northern pole.
  • Capricaerón and Piconé – These two colonies are often considered the most important. They share a common orbit. Capricaerón is a lush and fertile planet, and Piconé is a turquoise aquatic paradise. They are often seen as twins in old Libertus stories.
    • Lunasa – Lunasa is the tiny moon of Capricaerón, it has been teraformed into a lush and life-baring moon by URC scientists.
  • Orpheus – Orpheus is the largest gas giant in the Calithilaen System, it is 159,000 km at its equator and has over 89 moons, most captured asteroids. A giant storm has been raging across its surface for over 90,000 years.
    • Ixion Asteroid Field – This asteroid field in often used by miners. Scientists believe that it was once a planet pulled apart by the gas giant of Orpheus.
  • Taurophon – A major colony, Taurophon is located beyond the Ixion Asteriod Field and yet it can still support life. The people of Taurophon are generally distrustful of the Republic government.
  • Gemónae – A highly religious colony, Gemónae is known for its literal translations of the sacred scrolls of the Libertus.
  • Aeneas – A tiny and desolite moon, home to a small Republic Navy base. Believed to be an escaped moon of Orpheus.

Heran Beta[]

Map of Heran Beta.

Heran Beta was the first system in Calithilaen to become spacefaring, and its most important planet; Virgon has long been assiocated with imperial might. However, after the Inter-colonial Wars and the unification of the colonies, its might died down. Beta is home to many colonies that have an independent culture and way of life.

  • Troy – Sometimes considered important enough to be one of the colonies, Troy is rich in materials and natural resources and has been heavily exploited by Virgon and Leonae.
  • Virgon – Once the center of the Twelve Colonies, Virgon influence once spread across the four systems, however it began to decline with the rise of Capricaerón.
    • Hibernia – Home to an ethic group of Libertus who where once violently opposed to Virgon rule (Its home planet), now it is a vibrant and prosperous moon.
  • Leonae – A rich and important colony, Leonae has a long history of conflict with Virgon, however now they are relatively friendly.
  • Iris Asteroid Belt – Used for pilot training exercises.
  • Athena – The second largest planet in the four systems. Athena is a striking planet with lovely rings and clouds of all shades of red. It has forty-nine moons.
  • Nephele – A tiny planet with a barely habitable surface.

Heran Gamma[]

A map of Heran Gamma.

Heran Gamma is the least inhabited and understood system in the Four Systems.

The star itself is a main sequence star, slightly smaller than Heran Alpha, and as such it has planets that can support life. However, beyond the orbit of Sagittarhon, lies nothing but ice cubes and gas spheres.

  • Thanatos – A molten shell that many Libertus believe is the closest thing to hell in the entire systems.
  • Scorpiae – Once a great colony, Scorpiae lost much during the Intergalactic War, being destroyed. However, in the aftermath, it has recovered significantly, the planet now solely produces the Twelve Colonies’ new fleet.
  • Libraen – Libraen is an important center for the law and the courts of the entire Republic. A lush planet, it is often considered to be the birthplace of democratic freedoms.
    • Pandrossos - The sole moon of Libraen, Pandrossos is a biologists'paradise, home to many different aliens.
  • Sagittarhon – Sagittarhon is a rather unimportant colony. Its inhabitants are strong believers in religion and many dislike modern technology.
  • Pelion – A large, almost green gas giant, it is extremely cold, and houses over 30 moons, all of which are frozen and uninhabitable.

Heran Delta[]

A map of Heran Delta.

Heran Delta is a reddish main sequence star that has many planets and astronomical objects orbiting it. It is home to three colonies, Cancerti, Ariarona and Aquaraen, and in recent years it has become a center of trade and commerce, and the home of many intergalactic companies.

Deltan citizens (Anyone from Heran Delta) have little respect for the citizens of Heran Alpha, and the rivalry is still strong to this day.

  • Lethe – Lethe is a sulphoric world which a high temperature and low oxygen.
  • Aeolus Asteroid Belt – The Aeolus Asteriod Belt has a long history of exploitation and mining from Ariarona and Cancerti.
  • Ariarona and Cancerti – Twin planets that were badly affect by Cognatus assaults, the two colonies are now prosperous once more.
  • Aquaraen – An icy world that is home to small villages and towns. However, it has a rich and vibrant culture.
  • Hestia – A small gas giant, Hestia has ten moons, one of which is populated.
    • Janea – A small temperate moon that is home to many animal and plant life.

  • Ragnar – Ragnar is a huge gas giant which orbits the entire four systems at the central barycenter. Ragnar is 138,000 km across, but only has one moon. The planet houses an important Republic base in orbit.

A traditional settlement on Ariarona.

  • Population – 1.1 billion
  • Capital – Promethea
  • Attractions – Promethean Academy, Countryside, farms.
  • Patron God - Zeu'naí

Ariarona is a primary agricultural planet, which is the second planet from Heran Delta. The planet shares an orbit with the planet, Cancerti. The colony of Ariarona is probably most known for its great farms, which during the time of the Inter-Colonial Wars was the primary food provider to the colonies.

The planet hosts few large cities, with the exception of the city of Promethea, which is home to only 3 million people, most of whom live in small low rise apartments. The people of Ariarona have a strong dislike for Capricaerónns and Virgonians, the two most cosmopolitan colonies, which conflicts with the Aerilonians traditional ways.

During the Intergalactic War, Ariarona came under heavy attack from the Cognatus. After a lengthy battle between the Allies, made up of the United Republic of Cyrannus and the Delpha Coalition of Planets, and the Cognatus, the allies emerged victorious in space, but not before the Cognatus unleashed a deadly bioweapon, killing all of Aerolona’s crops. Luckily, however, the damage has since been reversed.

One of the many research stations on Aquaraen.

  • Population670,000
  • CapitalNone
  • AttractionsOceans, lakes, ice fields
  • Patron God - Poseió-dío

Aquaraen is the least populated colony in the four systems, with only 670,000 people calling it home. This is probably due to the frequent ice storms that the planet receives from both the north and south pole.

Aquaraen is not home to many cities, in fact, the majority of the settlements are mere town and villages, something that off worlders often find amazing. The colony does not even have a capital city, however in recent years, a small parliament has been formed with its own prime minister in order to deal with the small colonies internal matters.

The small population found on the planet however, has a vibrant culture and history, and are known across Cyrannus for being kind and caring.

Illumiana, the capital city of Cancerti.

  • Population – 8.9 billion
  • Capital – Illumiana
  • Attractions – Beaches, sunny weather, Illumiana Tower
  • Patron God - Her'aiá

Cancerti is a planet located in the Calithilaen System of the Cyrannus Galaxy, counted among the Twelve Worlds of the Libertus. The most populous planet in the Four Systems, Cancerti shares an orbit with the traditionally agrarian world of Ariarona and is located in the now prosperous Heran Delta subsystem of Calithilaen. During the Intercolonial Wars, Cancerti was largely overcrowded and slums polluted even the capital city of Illumiana, while the democratic government of the planet was dismissed by most extraplanetary bodies as an oligarchy. With the unification of the Four Systems under the United Worlds of Calithilaen, the planet began to prosper, with gleaming skyscrapers replacing the slums.

Historically, Cancerti has been culturally linked to worlds such as Taurophon and Leonae, with the people of the planet garnering a reputation as a peaceful and open population, perhaps too eager to please the whims of more powerful worlds. This has been claimed to have accounted for Cancerti's history of being colonised by imperial powers such as Leonae and Virgon during its history, though few can dispute the importance of the world and the impact it had on the development of galactic democracy.

  • Population – 4.5 billion
  • Capital– Capricaépolis
  • Official Language – Capricaerónn
  • Patron God - Apol’lao
  • Attractions - Capricaépolis, Delphi, Oldale, Presidential Pyramid, Libertopolos Hall, Pantheon Bridge, Atlas Arena, Apol'laoi Building, Old Capricaerón

Capricaerón is known as the capital of the Twelve Colonies. Being the original world the Capricaerónn Libertus evolved on, Capricaerón holds deep significance to them. Capricaerón itself is a verdant green, blue world when seen from orbit and is generally considered to be one of the richest planets in the entire Cyrannus Galaxy, as well as the most important.

The huge capital of Capricaépolis is home to over 8 million people and is an ocean front metropolis, in the planets temperate regions. Capricaerón is often seen as the center of the Twelve Colonies, as it is the center of science, arts, culture and learning.

After the Treaty of Corulus, the Twelve Colonies once again became an independent nation within the URC, with its own government and military of large battlestars. Both a Colonial Fleet and a Republic Fleet in orbit protect Capricaerón from alien invasion. Long a supporter of the Federation of United Worlds and later, the United Republic of Cyrannus, Capricaerón has seen a transition in recent times, becoming one of the key worlds within the Empire–and after the New Cyrandia Wars, the New Cyrannian Republic.

Gemini City, capital of Gemónae.

  • Population2.7 billion
  • Capital - Gemini City
  • Patron GodIsi-sía
  • AttractionsGemenese Columns of Hope, Apol’lao Cathedral, Grand Mountains

Gemónae is located in the Heran Alpha system, a system that includes Capricaerón and Picon. Gemenon is much more extreme then its two sister worlds, its climate is varied and inconsistent. The majority of the planet is incredible warm, with scorching hot deserts, and yet, large regions of the planet’s surface are freezing cold.

During the Intercolonial Wars, Gemónae was a fierce enemy of Capricaerón and Virgon, and many battles occurred between the two sides, however in the end, Gemónae was defeated by the two larger colonies, which resulted in the inhabitants turning bitter and even zealous in their literal beliefs in the Sacred Scrolls. Because of this, the colony is often secretive, even to this day.

The First Cognatus Empire attacked Gemónae during the final battle of the Intergalactic War. A Cognatus armada lead by Shipmaster Nata'Liemee layed siege to the planet, but was ultimately spared heavy casualties thanks to the timely arrival of a joint Republic-Gjigantrox fleet.

A city on Leonae.

  • Population3.2 billion
  • CapitalLumiereano
  • Patron GodArte’ollam
  • AttractionsLeonese University, Royal Palace, Leonese Parliament
  • Official LanguageLeonese

Leonae is a planet in the Heran Beta system, and is one of the most important planets in the four systems. The planet is probably known most for its savannas and its open plains, where famous Leonese wildlife live their lifes in harmony with nature. The planet is a major hub of the Imperial Navy, as it was for the Republic Navy before it. The majority of the cities on Leonae have offices for the Fleet to recruit new members.

Leonae is also a prime enforcer in democracy and education, despite the fact that is it was once a monarchy. Historically, Leonae was known for its wars with Virgon, which are believed to have been the fire that started the Intercolonial Wars, before the unification and the formation of the Capricorn Sector Alliance in 49 BNE.

Leonae came under heavy Cognatus attack during the final battle of the Intergalactic War, and was nearly destroyed by the genocidal alien armada. The joint Gjiantrox and URC Fleet that liberated Gemónae quickly evacuated the burning colony which was left almost lifeless. After the war, the Republic was left with the task of cleaning up the devastated wasteland, a task they rose to admirably.

The capital of Libraen, Themis.

  • Population4.5 billion
  • CapitalThemis
  • Patron GodAthe-naí
  • AttractionsSupreme Hall of Justice, Four Courts of Libraen, Democracy Square

Libraen is a planet in the Heran Gamma System, Libraen is known mostly for the home of the Republic’s main intergalactic justice system, found in its capital city of Themis. The planet was and continues to be, largely neutral in galactic affairs, which means that it is the home of many treaties, for example, the Capricorn Sector Alliance was formed on Libraen.

Librans are known to be a very intelligent, but quiet people who are secretly quite posh. Despite being considered a rich colony, it is not considered a desirable place to live due to the large police forces that patrol the planet.

Libraen was the site of the initial skirmishes during the Battle of the Calithilaen System, or the final battle of the Intergalactic War, when all the leaders involved in the allied faction met and discussed a possible solution to the problem that was the Cognatus, however, in a surprise attack, the Cognatus landed and invaded the planet, however, most of the fighting happened in space, which spared the planet the doom that occurred on its sisters.

Pailyn is the capital of Piconé.

  • Population3.5 billion
  • CapitalPailyn
  • Patron GodHerm-ai
  • AttractionsCrystal Seas, Tropical Islands, Ionian Island, Queenstown

Piconé is a bright blue tropical world that shares its orbit with Capricaerón, the two colonies are often considered neighbors, and so they are, often being called the twins of the Twelve Colonies. Piconé is often called Capricaerón Junior, because of their similarities; however, Capricaerón always seems to come out on top.

Piconé, despite its importance was hardly ever invaded by a foreign power, with the exception of battles during the Inter-colonial Wars and some small skirmishes during the Intergalactic War. In the latter, the Girdo Empire aided the URC in the defense of Piconé, and defeated the Cognatus forces.

Piconé is home to Piconé Fleet Headquarters, which was a key base in the military of the Old Republic, the Empire and currently the New Republic in addition to where many cadets go to become an officer in the starfleets of Cyrannus. The Atlantican, the flagship of the Twelve Colonies fleet, defends the planet from invasion. Tereyn Aeresius, the current Potentate of the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus is a Piconén.

Athane, the capital, is known for its rainy weather.

Sagittarhon is often considered to be the least important colony in the entire four systems that make up Calithilaen. The planet is quite poor, and its people are generally considered religious fundamentalists, who are violently opposed to any form of modern technology and prepare to live by the land. However, this is not always the case, and many Sagittarhonns are members of modern society like anyone else in the system.

Before and during the Inter-Colonial War, many Libertus had an almost racist attitude to the Sagittarhonns and their strange ways. It is for this reason that the colony is considered the polar opposite of Capricaerón, a colony that is modern, liberal and cosmopolitan.

Still, in recent years, the colony has undergone many changes, its people are now more open to new ideas, and are very friendly toward others. Still, many other Libertus still have disdain for them.

Celestes, the capital of Scorpiae

  • Population1.9 billion (Repopulation)
  • CapitalCelestes
  • Patron GodDeme-at
  • AttractionsScorpiaen Fleet Shipyards, Cliffs of Moh-erí

Scorpiae is a planet located in the Core of the Cyrannus Galaxy, notable for being one of the Twelve homeworlds of the Libertus. Naturally suited for the warm-blooded saurians, Scorpiae has a dense atmosphere and is covered in thick rainforests which stretch pole to pole, occasionally interrupted by warm tropical seas. Libertus native to Scorpiae have garnered a formidable reputation as some of the galaxy’s shrewdest tacticians and politicians, brokering deals which ultimately afforded Scorpiae a position of power amongst the Twelve Worlds disproportionate to its small size and low population.

Though the planet was devastated, the Republic underwent a massive campaign to heal the damage caused by the Cognatus, repairing the planet’s once proud cities and repopulating the scorched rainforests. By the end of the Great Cyrannus War, the planet rivalled its pre-war self, becoming a key military centre for the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus until the Imperial government formally handed over control of the system to the New Cyrannian Republic in 05 NE. Scorpiae is considered to be one of the most important worlds in the New Republic, housing the vast shipyards which had once made the planet famous.

Tauronsopolis, capital of Taurophon and ancestral home of the Cretacea family.

  • Population1.9 billion
  • CapitalTauronsopolis
  • Patron GodLu-onth
  • AttractionsHall of Honor, the red fields

Taurophon is a planet in the Heran Alpha Minor System in the Calithilaen System. The planet is located quite close to Capricaerón and Piconé, and like its neighbors, the planet is rich, and yet it is different in a profound way. For one, the planet has no flowering plants, which make it seem rather lifeless from space; however, the most important difference is the demeanor of the citizens.

Taurophonns are very honorable, and never back away from a fight, they are also rather stubborn in the face of danger, which makes them very brave. Many have quite a dislike for Capricaerónns, who they see as materialistic fools. Still, during the Intercolonial Wars, Taurophon and Capricaerón were allies, and due to the planet at the time being rather poor, Capricaerón saw a large intake of Taurophonns immigrating to the more successful colony.

The famous admiral, Willelmus Cretacea came from a Taurophonn family, despite being born and raised as a Capricaerónn. As a result Apollo, also has roots in the planet, a fact that many Taurophonns are eager to mention to others. During the Intergalactic War, Taurophon was devastated by the Cognatus, but it has since recovered. During the Cyrannian Cold War, Taurophon increasingly became used by the Republic government for state visits with more militaristic empires interested in the martial culture of the planet.

Virgon has some rather famous natives.

  • Population5.4 billion

Virgon is often considered to be Capricaerón's major rival in basically everything. Despite the two similar worlds being close allies, they are often at odds due to the history of Virgon’s imperialisation. There was a time, before the Intercolonial Wars, that the Virgon Empire was known across the systems as the sole superpower, a nation that none could compare to. However, this all ended with the rise of Capricaerón as the capital of the colonies. A small war erupted between the colonies, which ultimately ended in an armistice.

In the aftermath, the Virgon Empire’s power dwindled, and its royal family lost power to the democratic parliament. After the Intercolonial War, the Virgon Empire was dissolved and it joined the new unified government. Still, conflicts remained quite close to home; the moon of Hibernia was a thorn in the side of the Virgons. The Hibernians wanted to be free of the Virgons are set up an independent nation, the Virgons refused and a small civil war began, only to be ended by a treaty proposed by the Capricaerónns. Both parties accepted, and Hibernia became an independent nation. Despite initial tension, the two nations, Hibernia and Virgon began to get along famously. The two are now close allies.

Virgon is perhaps most famous nowadays intergalactically for being the homeworld of the Dvottie, a species famed throughout the Gigaquadrant for their cute appearance. During the Intergalactic War, Virgon was attacked lightly; luckily Helo Roslia was able to repel the invaders, during which he first came in contact with a mysterious messenger known as Sonja. Virgon also hosts many foreign visits, for example, Ramashe, the Supreme Empress of Rambo Nation has visited the world on occasion.

The Twelve Colonies have long been the source of Intercolonial Wars, and as such, most of them have large naval forces in space and large ground forces for planetary assaults. During the majority of its history, Capricaerón has spent the most on colonial defence and was often considered the most powerful colony, with large fleets of battlestars. Nowadays however, all the colonies are protected by a fleet of battlestars, backed up by the fleets of the Republic.

  • Class - Atlantica-class Battlestar
  • Length - 1,438 metres
  • Role - Colonial Defense
  • Weaponry - Point-defense energy weapons, conventional and hypermatter missiles

The Atlantica-class Battlestar was first developed during the Intercolonial Wars by the Capricaerón Republic. At 1,438 metres long and armed with incredibly advanced weaponry, the Atlantica-class is creditted by many as being responsible for turning the tide of war in Capricaerón's favour. After the formation of the United Worlds of Calithilaen, the Atlantica-class continued to see active use in Colonial defense, fighting against threats such as the Confederacy of Allied Systems in later years.
