The Third Nivenian War of Reunification was the third civil war to shake the Nivenian Empire (the first in nearly two centuries), and the first large-scale war where both sides used megastructural engineering, weapons, and unprecedented numbers of ships. The war was fought between the Nivenian Empire (at the time ruled by Dr. Allison Carson and the Industrial Progress Party), and a rebel faction containing the secondary of the system, ruled by de jure "President," de facto Military Dictator, and former Planetary Coordinator and leader of the Nivenian Militarist Faction Cameron Moss.

The prelude of the Third Nivenian War of Reunification was predominantly a power struggle between an upstart politician, Cameron Moss, and the Nivenian Imperial Government. Moss stood for extremely militaristic policies, and managed to win the support of most of the "keys to power" (those needed to rule) in the regions around the secondary of the Nivenia System by playing on their frustration with their tax money being used to fund research projects hundreds of astronomical units away. Several minor confrontations occurred during this period, but Moss' antics were still viewed as a minor, non-pressing matter.

By Ianuaria, 31 NE, the matter was beginning to heat up, as military confrontations and disobedience of Nivenian Imperial authority were becoming more common in the area. Spies from both sides began spying on the others and their assets, and military intervention was coming to be viewed as a likely consequence of Moss' actions. During this period, espionage and information-gathering became much more prevalent, and Moss became viewed as an urgent problem to the Nivenian Imperial Government, all fueling increasing paranoia on both sides.

On the first of Martex, noncompliance shook the entire Nivenian Empire as Cameron Moss refused to send mandatory taxes back to Nivenia Prime from the secondary of the Nivenia System, announcing "economic independence" from the capital. This sparked a military confrontation to occur in the system three weeks later, on Martex 23, when Nivenian Imperial forces arrived to collect the overdue taxes. However, they arrived to find that Moss had somehow convinced the soldiers manning the Nivenia B defense rings to switch allegiance, and had established a rudimentary blockade around the secondary of the Nivenia System.

The blockade was made from a mixture of defensive megastructures (e.g. defense rings, fortified asteroid moons, space stations), and civilian and military ships. Although military ships typically have much better shields than civilian ones, civilian high-speed freighters have both high-exhaust velocity engines (which are powerful plasma weapons), and reasonably-good shields to protect from high-speed debris that would otherwise shred the ship. Thus, the blockade was extremely effective at stopping the small Nivenian force sent to collect the tax backlog.

With the blockade preventing Nivenian ships from entering the area surrounding the secondary of the Nivenia System, Moss declared the independence of the area, and the formation of what he called the "United Democratic Republic of Nivenia B," a "militaristic democracy," supposedly, never minding the fact that the country was born in a state of emergency - which called for the suspension of elections. In all reality the government was a military junta - but like most of its kind before it, it pretended to be a democracy to make sure that it had the moral high ground in the eyes of uninformed bystanders.

Cameron Moss declared himself the "President" of the new regime, and immediately declared martial law over the whole of the system secondary. The Nivenian Imperial ships outside the blockade finally decide that they had had enough, and began to charge in on Martex 32. While the first two defense rings did not stop the Nivenian fleet, as they did not want to fire upon their former countrymen, Moss forced the third defense ring to maintain the blockade and fire upon the Nivenian fleet upon pain of death once word got to his ears. These shots, and the hours-long battle that followed, resulted in several billion casualties on both sides, and marked the start of the third Nivenian war of re-unification.

Early Stages[]

Iunius, 32 NE[]

At the beginning of Iunius, after the shock of the first engagements (won by the United Democratic Republic of Nivenia B), the Nivenian Imperial board of technology and the Nivenian Trading Organization for Commercial Benefits issued both a joint travel advisory and more stringent spaceship flight regulations to both the secondary of the Nivenia System (new regimes like the United Democratic Republic of Nivenia B are typically both unstable and unfriendly to outsiders), and the outer reaches of the Nivenia System primary (as they are quite vulnerable to long-range attacks from Nivenia B). Trade to and from Nivenia Prime would not be disrupted. Nearly instantly, JCompany responded, acknowledging the advisory.

Fearing long-range strikes on population centers from Nivenia B using relativistic projectiles, the Nivenian Empire began stationing gigantic Mylar sheets in high orbit of most of their planets (planets are dense population centers; O'Neill cylinders and other megastructures are more spread-out). This was done just in time, too, as on Iunius 18, a twenty-million-ton fusion rocket traveling at 0.23c (with roughly ten billion megatons of energy) slammed into the Mylar sheet above the second moon of Nivenia A11. The projectile disintegrated on impact, exploding before it could hit the planet.

By Iunius 27, the Board of Technology reached a conclusion - for the territories occupied by United Democratic Republic of Nivenia B to be reclaimed, the United Democratic Republic had to be destroyed immediately - they had almost all of the Nivenian Empire's shipbuilding facilities, and they would surpass the Nivenian Empire in military terms in less than four years. Although the Nivenian Empire's government was still responding to the shock from the suddenness of the entire ordeal, they agreed that the United Democratic Republic of Nivenia B had to be stopped soon. In response, they then launched almost two thirds of the Imperial Navy at Nivenia B, all at once, at 2.5% lightspeed (leaving enough delta-V for maneuvering and getting back without refueling at the destination).

The Nivenian Empire's strategy was a complicated one. Ever since the arrival of insane amounts of stellar energy from the Caeruleo System, the Nivenian Empire had had more power than they could easily use without overheating. This had lead them to use the energy predominantly for the disassembly of planets, and the production of vital actinides and udQM (up-down Quark Matter) nuclei, essential and energy-intensive components of most Nivenian technology. Using this energy, it would be possible to do controlled strikes on all of the United Democratic Republic's ships, with beams wide enough that the ships would not be able to accelerate out of the way. This could not be done, however, from Nivenia A by re-aiming the beam. Ships "on-site" would not be able to use the beam either, as the vast momentum of that amount of energy would tear any ship to bits. There was only one thing that would be able to be both close enough to hit the rapidly moving targets, as well as not being destroyed simply from the momentum of the beam - a planet. Five planets were deemed close enough to be able to hit ships with this form of superweapon - Nivenia B1, Nivenia B2, Nivenia B3, Nivenia B4, and Nivenia B5. Nivenia B3 and Nivenia B5 were both gas giants, and Nivenia B3 had a massive population, making both extremely poor choices. Of the remaining choices, only Nivenia B1 fit the bill. Both Nivenia B2 and Nivenia B4 were icy objects with deep subglacial oceans that would severely weaken the ability of the planets to stay together during a momentum redirection of the magnitude imagined.

Novemex, 32 NE[]

The United Democratic Republic of Nivenia B's strategy was to produce as many ships as possible while holding their assets at all costs. As they had control over most of the shipbuilding facilities from the Nivenian Empire, they would be able to produce ships at a much faster rate than the Nivenian Empire itself. This would mean that if they could hold off the Nivenian Empire long enough with a combination of relativistic kill missiles, their fleet, and retrofitted cargo ships to be used as "stopgap" warships until more actual warships could be produced, they would be able to far surpass the Nivenian Empire in terms of military forces. However, the United Democratic Republic did face a substantial problem. As they primarily converted raw materials into military-grade alloys, and those alloys into ships, but did not have the necessary infrastructure to procure the original raw materials, they would begin to run out of raw materials like iron, titanium, aluminum, and carbon in only a few months to a year. Their strategy to cope with this was to cut corners off of several of the megastructures built in their part of the Nivenia System (such as ringworlds), allowing them to use the excess as shipbuilding material.

As for defense, the United Democratic Republic of Nivenia B would use a combination of the stellar defense rings that were present before, their fleet, and planet-specific defenses. Unlike its progenitor, the United Democratic Republic was a planet-centered regime, as they only had a population in the low quadrillions, and they were more military industry-focused in their methods, instead of the agriculture and civilian industry-focused Nivenian Empire. This would make it feasible for the United Democratic Republic to build defense rings around planets as well as stars.

By the middle of Novemex, several thousand fusion rockets of vast proportions were fired off from the United Democratic Republic at the incoming Nivenia fleet. Each rocket was equipped with hundreds of millions of bowling ball-sized pieces of metal, designed to spread out in a cloud and destroy incoming ships. Although several ships were destroyed by these, the rest quickly put their shields up. As they could no longer preform random acceleration maneuvers to protect from energy weapons fire, the United Democratic Republic quickly shot their Nicoll-Dyson beam at the ships. The Nicoll-Dyson beam vaporized around five percent of the fleet before the rest turned off their shields and accelerated away. To protect against relativistic bowling balls and allow for constant course corrections to prevent Nicoll-Dyson beam strikes, the ships in the Nivenian fleet turned off some of the the magnetic regulators on their fusion drives, turning their narrow-beam drive into a wide-beam fusion drive - a less effective weapon, but still a device blasting thick, hot, quickly moving plasma out the back - capable of both acceleration and the passive vaporization of incoming projectiles as a form of point-defense.

This incident had cost a serious portion of the Nivenian fleet, but despite continued attacks in this manner (which came to be known as "shell and fry" attacks after their tendency to blast shrapnel at Nivenian ships and then try to shoot them with a Nicoll-Dyson beam), no substantial losses were recorded over the rest of the trip. On Novemex 60, however, when the Nivenian fleet entered the outer reaches of the Nivenia System secondary's planetary system, they encountered a nasty surprise: the United Democratic Republic had created a massive defensive station in that region of their outer system the size of a small moon to defend against Nivenian attacks.

Dekemurios, 32 NE[]

The defense station that the United Democratic Republic had built was a spherical station about two hundred kilometers in diameter, capable of unfolding to reveal millions of square kilometers of weapons and missile batteries hidden away inside. All in all, this station was as powerful as approximately four million Nivenian battleships. In addition, the station could refocus the Nicoll-Dyson beam from the secondary of Nivenia to blast spaceships at closer range with more accuracy. As the Nicoll-Dyson beam from the secondary of Nivenia was closer to five Zetawatts (or roughly a million megatons TNT equivalent per second), as opposed to the over twenty thousand Yottawatts (or roughly four trillion megatons TNT equivalent per second) of Caeruleo, a much smaller mass could redirect it without significant acceleration. Worse still for the Nivenians, the station's shields and structure meant that it would take a point-blank fusion explosion of 900 million megatons to push on the station's shields enough to break the station under its rated maximum acceleration of 0.5 m/s^2, and the shield could be on at the same time as the redirected Nicoll-Dyson beam. However, the Nicoll-Dyson beam could be kept at bay by constantly moving around if the distance to the station was more than thirty million kilometers, as the beam would take almost two minutes to travel, and lightspeed delays would make any information used to fire the beam almost four minutes out of date by the time that the beam arrives.

However, as long as low-intensity sustained fire was kept upon the station, the shields would have to be held up, meaning that none of the millions of square kilometers of conventional weapons batteries could fire. Exploiting this weakness, the Nivenian fleet fired low-intensity missile and kinetic weapons from thirty million kilometers away, while slowly moving back and forth to avoid the Nicoll-Dyson beam, and preparing a massive assault upon the station to try to accelerate it enough to break it. Eventually, it was decided for all ships to fire their weapons between Dekemurios 20 and Dekemurios 24, with weapons with muzzle velocities of fifty kilometers per second going first, slowly ramping up to weapons with muzzle velocities of a hundred kilometers per second firing last. These weapons (mainly fusion missiles) would arrive over a range of around half a steradian of solid angles, making point defense with one large laser nigh-impossible, and exploding with the required 900 million megatons, generating enough force against the shield to destroy the station on Dekemurios 28.

Afterwards, as the fleet had already slowed down, and the distance was only three billion kilometers, they decided to move slowly, in order to prevent defense tactics of placing steel bowling balls n front of the ships so that they would be run into at relativistic speeds. This would mean that it would take them a full month more to reach their goal of securing Nivenia B1.

The loss of their defensive station seriously cost the United Democratic Republic in terms of time, resources, and manpower, but not enough to cripple them. Although the station was impressive, they could build another in a month. Along those lines, more stations began construction, mainly around Nivenia B3, the planet that they thought the Nivenian Empire was after, as it contained the shipyards needed to win the war.

Neochios, 32 NE[]

By the beginning of Neochios, the Nivenian Empire began to experience significant civil unrest, both inside the Nivenia System, and as friction between the governments of the Nivenia System and the Nivenian Vassal System-States. The System-States, seeing Nivenia B's success in holding off the Nivenian Empire so far, began to fantasize about possible freedom, as they were even farther from the Nivenia System Primary than Nivenia B was. On the other hand, the System-States vassalized by the Nivenian Empire had populations of under a quadrillion, and did not have substantial shipyards, meaning that any conflict with the Nivenian Empire would be very one-sided.

Adding to this trend, the United Democratic Republic of Nivenia B also worked to plant the seeds of independence in the Vassal System-States. These factors, and the previous factors, meant that most of those running the System-States deemed it to risky to declare independence, unless the Nivenian Empire lost most of its ships in the current war. This basically resulted in an unspoken agreement that brought up the stakes of the war for the Nivenian Empire, as failure would leave an impression of weakness to the Vassal System-States.

Several other groups inside the Nivenia System also dissented with their various factions' actions. United Democratic Republic of Nivenia B residents were most prominent about this, as very few of the citizens of the area actually wanted to secede. However, even in the Nivenian Empire, many protested the war, with those on the ecumenopolis of Nivenia Prime being the most vocal, due to the Industrial Safety Party's large majority. While most of the higher-ups of the Industrial Safety Party did not actually want to stop the war, they saw the war as an opportunity to topple the decades-long dominance of the Industrial Progress Party, and introduce themselves as the new regime.

This regime toppling would have to happen during the end of the war, as the Industrial Safety Party could not risk gaining power on the platform of ending the war, fighting the war, losing power, and not gaining it again for decades more. For this to work, Nivenians would have to get more and more riled up over the course of the war, leading to a coup at the end of the war that would have to take effect between when the end of the war reached the capital and when it reached the public. This would be a delicate operation, but if done correctly, the Industrial Safety Party could turn the Nivenian Empire away from reckless technological advancement and the ideals of the Industrial Progress Party and towards extremely rapid population, economic, and industrial growth, corresponding with the ideals of the Industrial Safety Party for potentially decades.

The Nivenian fleets in the United Democratic Republic, meanwhile, encountered a period of minimal resistance before they arrived at the defense rings surrounding the star.

The taking of Nivenia B1[]

Ianuaria, 33 NE[]

On Ianuaria 1, 33 NE, thing were beginning to look up for the Nivenian Empire. This continued for just over four hours, when the hope was shattered by a massive fusion-rocket-powered missile fired from the United Democratic Republic that hit Nivenia A Ringworld 17 in its largest city. The explosion blew a five hundred-kilometer-wide hole through the ringworld, and destroyed billions of square kilometers of suburbia and farmland along with the major city. All in all, 1.76 trillion died from the initial explosion. However, the explosion killed far more in the carnage that ensued afterwards. The hole in the ringworld caused gases to flow out for only a few seconds, before the active-support layer covered up the gap, but now the falling gas was hitting a ragged surface moving at over a hundred kilometers per second. This heated the gas to tens of thousands of degrees, and created a massive heat wave of hundreds of degrees that very nearly killed three quarters of a quadrillion. Although the hole was fixed in less than a week, this development changed the nature of the war. Before, the United Democratic Republic of Nivenia B had never done anything this vile. But now, many had lost loved ones to the United Democratic Republic.

At home, even more troubles were brewing. The Nivenian Trade Organization for Commercial Benefits, a massive corporate alliance, was beginning to fall apart. Nivenia Defensive Systems (of course) wanted the war to continue for as long as it possibly could, delaying victory so that the government would buy more ships, the Megastructural Construction Corporation wanted the war to be won fast, and MegaSuperUltraCorp just wanted the war to end. This caused quite a bit of internal strife, as corporate secret agents from supposedly allied corporations clashed all over the Nivenian Empire.

This came to a head when the Nivenian Trade Organization for Commercial Benefits was dissolved on Ianuaria 3, in the aftermath of the attacks on the ringworlds by the United Democratic Republic. All three companies had similarly-sized fleets that, if combined, could even slightly outmatch the Nivenian Empire as a whole, and so they began a massive three-way battle in the middle regions of the Nivenia System (the Nivenian Empire, though powerless against the outer skirmishes, was able to use their defense rings to hold off corporate aggression on the insides of the system.

Although the corporations all had interests in not harming civilian targets, the Nivenian Economy was now split between five warring factions - fighting TWO wars. For the United Democratic Republic, this was great news - for the Nivenian Empire, not so much. Having a completely separate war between hostile Megacorporations that are as powerful as nations was certainly not good for morale, and the Nivenian Empire was reviving boycott statements from several angles, with those from all companies demanding that the government take a side.

Meanwhile, in the secondary of the Nivenia System, an extremely decisive battle in the first war took place all around Nivenia B. The Nivenian fleet, having arrived at the Nivenia System secondary, split into two groups, one to engage forces at Nivenia B1, and the other (a smaller fleet, a twentieth the size of the original, unmanned, and rigged to explode) to bomb kinetically the defense rings around Nivenia B3 to distract the United Democratic Republic. This would prevent them from reinforcing their garrison on Nivenia B1.

On Ianuaria 38, the fleet made their move. The tactic worked as planned, with Nivenia B1 being captured with civilian losses of only eighteen and a half billion n a decisive victory. At this point, the industry present on the planet would spend the next several months constructing the mirrors, fiber optics, lenses, and other optical equipment needed to focus a Nicoll-Dyson beam from the Caeruleo System to fire on ships in the space around the secondary of Nivenia. While this took place, the Nivenian fleet, now in a defensive position, could defend the planet from attack.

Martex, 33 NE[]

On Martex 16, 33 NE, in the aftermath of several more bombings that killed trillions, the Nivenian Empire was forced to institute further travel restrictions on Nivenians and Tourists alike, preventing any non-essential movement between habitats, planets, and ringworlds for an indefinite time period. This caused massive changes in the Nivenian economy, along with a temporary recession, as businesses had to go into hibernation for the most part. These measures also levied extreme regulations on space flights taking place outside the vicinities of Nivenia Prime or Nivenia A11.

On Martex 23, JCompany (one of the Nivenian Empire's allies), seeing how bad the situation was becoming, offered to send the 3rd Defense JDivision, headed by Warlord JCarnivore, to help maintain peace in the Nivenian Empire's trade routes. The Nivenians, seeing a strategic opportunity, graciously accepted, asking the 3rd Defense JDivision to help protect Nivenian commerce and population centers from interplanetary bombardment. This would allow some relaxation in the regulations, which allowed the recession to begin recovering.

Meanwhile, the skirmishes on the outskirts of the Nivenia System continued. With the arrival of the 3rd Defense JDivision, the corporate war got pushed much farther outward, with large battles moving from the outskirts of the Nivenia System to the scattered disk[1], and large battles also moving into courtrooms to try and sue rival companies out of existence. Dozens of Petacredits per day went into these ventures, with cash being lost on all sides. However, on Martex 30, the Megastructural Construction Corporation and MegaSuperUltraCorp apparently reached some kind of agreement, as they stopped battling each other and teamed up on Nivenia Defensive Systems.

As the balance of power in the scattered disk and in the courts shifted, Nivenia Defensive Systems slowly began to fall, with their assets slowly being seized, both by the courts and by other, more powerful MegaCorporations. This was the beginning of the end for Nivenia Defensive Systems, and they slowly, gradually, began to wane. However, this victory on the parts of Megastructural Construction Corporation and MegaSuperUltraCorp was not without cost - as Nivenia Defensive Systems slowly shrank, the fleets of both parties also slowly depleted. In spite of this, by the end of Martex, the outcome seemed certain.

Iunius, 33 NE[]

At the beginning of Iunius, 33 NE, the United Democratic Republic of Nivenia B launched a massive assault upon Nivenia B1, having finally determined what the Nivenian Empire was up to through espionage. Knowing that a Nivenian superweapon could potentially destroy them, they sent almost all of their military ships, and even drafted civilian ships to retrofit and force to act as cannon fodder against the Nivenian Empire. This massive fleet charged into the Nivenian Garrison on Iunius 7, supported by artillery from the United Democratic Republic's capital and shipyards near Nivenia B3.

As most weapons carried by both sides were extremely long-range, the battle began over distances of tens of millions of kilometers, with artillery from Nivenia B3 firing on Nivenia B1 in an attempt to soften up the fleet in orbit of the planet. To a degree, this worked, but due to point-defense stations based in orbit of the planet, two thirds of the artillery and missiles fired did not impact Nivenian ships. The weapons on the United Democratic Republic's ships were slightly shorter range, engaging at four million kilometers, and engaged later.

Due to the improvised nature of the United Democratic Republic's fleet, they had less efficient and less effective weapons than the Nivenian fleet. However, the United Democratic Republic had one thing that the Nivenians did not, reinforcements. Over the time that the Nivenians had been present near the secondary of the Nivenia System, they had been constantly taking losses due to attacks from the United Democratic Republic. In contrast, the United Democratic Republic's fleet was able to replenish from the shipyards at Nivenia B3. With the Nivenians barely being able to hold their government together in the space around the Nivenia System primary, they could not afford to send reinforcements. These factors lead to the Nivenian garrison above Nivenia B1 being only about half as numerous as the United Democratic Republic's fleet. This being the case, the Nivenian Empire's ships were still twice as effective, and both sides had access to long-range artillery, making the battle relatively even. In the end, the victory was decided by a test firing of a massive inertial-confinement fusion drive being fitted onto Nivenia B1 to allow for momentum compensation when the Nicoll-Dyson laser would be redirected through the planet. This massive blast annihilated the United Democratic Republic's fleet, allowing the Nivenians to win the battle on Iunius 21. However, the battle set back Nivenian progress by almost a month.

After more than a month of slowly losing ground, Nivenia Defensive Systems mustered their fleet in one last massive strike against the Megastructural Construction Corporation and MegaSuperUltraCorp. By bypassing most of the combat in the scattered disk, the fleet from Nivenia Defensive Systems could attack actual corporate buildings near the inner system. While this could have been done by any of the three sides during the war, the Nivenian Empire would have quickly put a stop to it. However, Nivenia Defensive Systems was getting desperate. Between Iunius 40 and Iunius 45, they bombed seven planets with relativistic debris, specifically in locations with known Megastructural Construction Corporation and MegaSuperUltraCorp property. While these shots were not designed to kill civilians, the sheer prevalence of the Megastructural Construction Corporation and MegaSuperUltraCorp on most Nivenian Empire planets meant that hundreds of billions on each planet died. However, on Iunius 46, a combined JCompany and Nivenian Empire fleet intercepted them in high orbit of Nivenia Prime, intercepted their weapons fire, and disabled the ships. This was the end of Nivenia Defensive Systems, as they would soon be sued out of existence.

The End of the War[]

Dekemurios, 33 NE[]

On Dekemurios 7, 33 NE, with the weapon at Nivenia B1 nearing completion, the Nivenian Empire issued an ultimatum to the United Democratic Republic - if they did not immediately surrender, the Nivenian Empire would begin destroying their ships, military stations, and, if an agreement could not be reached, their planets and cities as well. Hundreds of trillions in the Nivenian Empire had lost their lives to United Democratic Republic bombings, and many wanted to settle the score. However, the Nivenian Empire offered, if the United Democratic Republic surrendered within ten days, their leaders would be exiled, and the fighting could cease.

The United Democratic Republic responded on Dekemurios 11, saying that nothing could stop them from achieving their goals, followed by a three-hour rant about how the Nivenian Empire was overtaxing the Nivenia B region (To tell the truth, the Nivenian Empire had actually been taxing the Nivenia B region exactly the same as they were taxing everyone else, with a universal tax of one Nivenian Credit per day). The United Democratic Republic followed up by issuing their own ultimatum to the Nivenian Empire, telling them to leave Nivenia B1 or else.

The Nivenian Empire gave no response to the United Democratic Republic's message, further infuriating them. When the Nivenian Empire gave the United Democratic Republic one last chance to reconsider on Dekemurios 17, the United Democratic Republic finally snapped, throwing everything that they could throw together in such short notice at the Nivenians. Billions of improvised fusion rockets powered toward the Nivenian facilities on Nivenia B1, each capable of slamming into the planet with the force of a million nuclear bombs. The massive Mylar sheets deployed by the Nivenian Empire stopped most of these projectiles from directly impacting the planet below, but the hypervelocity shrapnel was still capable of untold destruction. Quickly, large portions of the Nivenian fleet were launched to combat the attacks by firing anti-missile missiles to intercept United Democratic Republic missiles, a strategy which was mostly effective. Nevertheless, several missiles did get through the defenses, impacted the Mylar shield, and impacted the planet, setting the project back over two weeks.

The next five weeks were characterized by low-intensity bombardment of Nivenia B1 by the United Democratic Republic, a strategy that only delayed the inevitable. On Dekemurios 52, 33 NE, the Nivenian Empire finally concluded construction of the Nicoll-Dyson refocusing apparatus on Nivenia B1. Several days in advance, the energy collection station at the Nivenia System had refocused ten thousand Yottawatts of Caeruleo's light toward the planet, allowing the weapon to finally become complete. In an instant, massive beams of light vaporized millions of United Democratic Republic ships and stations. This was followed, in the absence of a surrender, by the destruction of the United Democratic Republic's shipyards on Dekemurios 53, the destruction of their resource silos on Dekemurios 54, and the destruction of their command centers on Dekemurios 55. The weapon was powered down, its initial task complete. The remaining bastions of United Democratic Republic loyalty finally surrendered later that day, marking the end of the Third Nivenian War of Reunification.
