- A Space Pirate to his troops, before wiping out heretics.

The Religion of the Zarbania Powers, is a complex, polytheistic religion, centering around making the individual stronger, while working towards making the group better. They believe in a fine balance between improving yourself, and going out to out-do everyone in an arrogant show. Humility, teamwork, loyalty, honor, and conviction are the hallmarks of their religion.

The Aensire[]

Frya[]

  • Goddess of - Nature, Plants, life, fertility

The central goddess worshiped in Zarbania, Frya represents Nature, and is the mother of All that Grows and Lives "In the Walls and out", representing her power over both beast and people. She is the wife of Taalir, Sister in Law to Njorin, and Sister of Snotra. She is the Queen of the Gods, and considered undisputed ruler of the Heavens as well as the Earth, giving the power of her light to the land so crops may grow, animals may fatten, and people may live in peace and joy. She is opposed to war and battle, though has no dedication against the idea of trials and physical strength to improve oneself. She is known for their incredible wisdom, having plucked out her right eye to receive all the knowledge and wisdom of the world and the universe, sharing this with her followers in such a way that they will come to understand things on their own, and appreciate the journey, not the end result.

Her Cult is strongest in Fryaburg, Kasseland, Offnenburg, Sturmarx and Stierland, some of which is shared with her husband, Taalir.

Taalir[]

  • God of - Hunting, farming, fertility.

Frya's husband, Taalir is a God of Hunting, Farming and agriculture, and Fertility. He is the brother of Njorin, Brother-in-law to Snotra, and husband to Frya. Taalir is a strong-willed god, who is said to have the strength of 10 hunters, and the patience of many holy men. Many stories recount how he stayed within 1 spot for a year, with only his bow and a single arrow, to hunt one of the most elusive creatures in the universe. He has mastered all the arts of farming and bringing anything to grow, be it wheat, barley, beans, corn and countless other vegetables, alien and not, known to humans. He disdains hunting for sport, and stresses that it should only be partaken for the feeding of the family and hearth, and is said to hunt those that merely do it for status in the afterlife. Taalir is the King of the Gods, and while a recluse, is respected by all, though leaves leadership to his wife.

His cult is strongest in Kasseland, Offnenburg, Stierland and Schweliestein-Holstag, most of which is shared with his wife, Frya.

Njorin[]

  • God of - The Sea and Stars, fishing, travel, exploration.

Njorin is the God of the Seas and Stars, and represents fishing, Trade, exploration and travel by ways beyond air and land. He is the Brother of Taalir, Brother-in-law to Freya and Snotra, and father Ulidor and Lornald, and consort of Gevjun. Njorin is the hardest worker of the gods, traveling the oceans to create storms for those that displease him, giving life to the corals and many, many great fishes, sea mammals and other beasts that live in the oceans and the abyss, and further rules over the stars and the void above worlds. A god of stormy temperament, Njorin is fickle and prone to anger, and many are fearful of his wrath. Yet, when not crossed, Njorin is pleased to give his followers many gifts and riches of the sea. He is known to take Gevjun often as a consort, though the two do not wed, neither willing to give themselves totally to the other, and quite happy with their relationship as is.

His cult is strongest Nordveria and Schweliestein-Holstag.

Ulidor[]

  • God of - Wolves, Battle, Warfare.

The Ulidor is the God of Warfare and battle, as well as wolves, among the Zarbanians, and represents warriors and fighters all. Brutal, uncompromising and savage, Ulidor is the son of Njorin, Brother to Lornald, and rival of Sangraudia. Prone to often crushing his foes with ruthless strikes from his axe or sword, Ulidor is not considered a merciful god by many, and his methods for dealing with problems are straightforward and often barbaric. A rapist must have his genitals removed and be forced to endure the same treatment he inflicted on others. Killing another's child will result in your own getting killed. As such, Ulidor is widely disliked by the other Gods, due that, and his rage that can burn an entire ocean way. He is also prone to drunkenness and lazy living, and prone to trying to steal the wives of other Gods for himself. Despite his often savage and short temper, Ulidor truly does frown upon savage displays in war, displaying a chivalrous side that puts him in conflict with the Dragowar Cults and religious groups in Zarbania.

His cult is strong among many of the warriors of Zarbania, and is strongest in Mitteleland, Sturmarx, Stierland and Eisenburg.

Hel[]

  • Goddess of - Death, afterlife.

Hel is the Goddess of Death and the Afterlife, as well as funerals and services. She is the wife of Snotra, Sister-in-Law to Frya and Taalir, and mother of Sangraudia and Gevjun. Hel is a women often shrouded in cloaks and secrecy, and protector of the souls of the dead from Demons and other corruptive forces, is invoked and used to protect corpses from desecration, and protects the dreams of mortals from those that would give them nightmares. She is an enduring figure, and rich beyond measure, thanks to the access to the Underworld beneath the earth on every world, though cares little, giving it all away to others, no matter what. She and Snotra are wives to each other, and each the full-blooded parent of Sangraudia and Gevjun, though which one gave birth is a matter of contention among the cults of Zarbania, with most authorities believing they somehow both carried their children to term.

Her cult does not have a strong presence anywhere of note, though her priests see to funerals rites, and care for the fallen in battle, and prepare them for their burial.

Snotra[]

  • Goddess of - Wisdom, learning, Justice.

Snotra is the Goddess of Wisdom, Learning, science and justice, and holds a strong place among the Zarbanians. She is the younger sister of Frya, wife of Hel, Sister-in-law to Taalir and Njorin, and mother to Sangraudia and Gevjun. She represents the purest form of justice, that which is the equal distribution of fairness and trial to all. For this reason, the rich and Klunkers in Zarbania, especially in areas Sotra is commonly worshipped in, do not get special trials, time off or special prisons. Any injustice and harm they caused is treated the same as a common man, and they receive the same punishments for it. She further is a patron of science and intelligence, managing the libraries of the gods, and able to read in any language and understand any course, be it ship-building, biology, alchemy and chemistry. She is, further, the patron of revolutionaries and those rising up against injustice and tyranny. She and Hel are wives to each other, and each the full-blooded parent of Sangraudia and Gevjun, though which one gave birth is a matter of contention among the cults of Zarbania, with most authorities believing they somehow both carried their children to term.

Her Cult is strongest Eisenburg and Kasseland.

Sangraudia[]

  • Goddess of - Knowledge, warfare, strategy.

Sangraudia is the Goddess of knowledge, Warfare and careful strategy and consideration of warfare and how to execute it. She is the daughter of Hel and Snotra, sister of Gevjun, and rival of both Ulidor and Njorin. Sangraudia is the greatest master of strategy and master of predicting and outsmarting her foes in combat. It is said she can predict and outsmart any enemy, as she hears them speak, sees how they move, and analyze their body language. She is intelligent, the keeper of all books of war, and whose knowledge is unequal to any, except her mother Snotra. Sangraudia is a rival of Ulidor, who desires to make her his wife, and prove his authority in war. Ulidor is savage power and strength, Sangraudia intelligence and speed, and she almost always manages to overpower and outsmart him.

The Cult of Sandgraudia is strongest in Eisenburg, Schweliestein-Holstag and Mittleland.

Gevjun[]

  • Goddess of - Charity and sacrifice, healing and medicine.

The second daughter of Hel and Snotra, Gevjun is the goddess of healing, charity and medicine among the Zarbanians, her touch enough to mend broken bones, knit flesh together and cure damage to the brain. Gevjun's sister is Sandgraudia, her parents Hel and Snotra, and lover of Njorin, and mother of Ulidor and Lornald. Gevjun is seen as the purest goddess, her willingness to help any out-weighing her status as a divine figure. Everyone from doctors and combat medics, to those that run soup kitchens and charity organizations, and psych wards and homeless shelters. Gevjun is said to be with all who help heal, and her priest and priestesses have few temples, but all of them are pure white, and clean, always full of people seeking her help. Gevjun is, strangely, a consort of Njorin, though the two have never married. Her calm, agreeable nature clashes often with his stormy, and wild temper.

Points of Interest[]

The Game of Life and War[]

The Game is said to be the eternal conflict that constantly grips the universe as races continue to fight one another. The Game is constantly in motion, and is a way of culling the weak from the strong, via Verachet's will.

In their believes, when one side looses a war, they believe that the winner being made stronger is more prepared for the end times, and can thus help fight the Dark Powers at the end of days. The Zarbanians believe that a weak empire that persists, without changing it's ways, whether it be too brutish, unintelligent, or unfeeling, is corrupting the stock of races within the universe, and weakens them from being able to stop the tides of the Dark gods.
