The Nomadic Union of the Libenian Mercenaries (NULM), also known as the Libense or simply as The Mercenaries, are a small faction found in the Lapida Galaxy. It contains the majority of the population of the Libense and Fil species. Consisting of nomadic space cities located in several places around Lapida, the Mercenaries are an almost completely neutral power, helping several other factions with several kinds of tasks as long as they can pay it. They provide a great delievery system, and their population includes both strong manpower qualified for building and and fierce warriors willing to serve in war-related issues; however, they are dependent of other empires, such as the New Gods Empire, in order to sustain their economy.

History[]

The exact origins of The Mercenaries are as obscure and speculative as those of the two species it consists of. It seems to have existed for nearly as long as the Libense and the Fil have been spacefaring, with no signs of other factions led by them in Lapida. Several planets have been proposed as their homeplanet, but research hasn't reached a conclusion yet. It should be noted that The Mercenaries seem to actually know about their homeplanet's whereabouts, but constantly deny it and occasionally attempt to obstruct research about it.

To be completed.

Species[]

The NULM consists of two strange, closely related species: the Libense and the Fil.

Religion[]

There is no official religion in the NULM to date, and citizens are free to believe in what they want. As such, there's a wide array of different religions being practiced within the population, most of them borrowed by other cultures met by The Mercenaries during their interstellar movements. From all of these religions, the most popular one seems to be titaneism, borrowed from Androg culture, with around 32% of the NULM population practicing it. Atheism is fairly common as well.

Clothing[]

Unlike in other civilizations, clothing is not a social obligation within the NULM's cities, probably due to the biology of both species in it meaning it's not possible for them to have their bodies covered in clothes and/or armor at all times, nor is it necessary due to their lack of sexual organs. However, clothing is still present in the Mercenaries' society, often seen as a luxury that is more common in the higher-ranking civilians. It is usually present as metallic armor, rather than conventional clothing, as a symbol of the power of these individuals. The most common colors worn are purple and blue.

Space travel[]

The Mercenaries are notorious for their large motherships, known as Resdvurgos, which contain the cities the population lives in. Each ship is large and divided in three to four layers or "floors": the bottom floor usually contains the machinery and power generators that allow the spaceship to sustain itself, as well as the smaller spaceships of the city; the upper floor serves as residence for the higher-ranking members of the city, including the mayor itself; and the two middle layers are the lower-ranking members' home. Both home "floors" contain the houses where the citizens live, public services structures such as hospitals and police offices, shops and restaurants, etc.
