Order of BattleEdit

LEGEND
SYMBOL NAME
FIS Corps d'Armee
Army Unit
Army units are composed of ground forces, along with a significant level of naval support. Large infantry battalions represent the majority of these units, relying more on overwhelming numbers than advanced equipment. Communication is critical to the coordination of these formations. This is maintained both within them, and through ships in orbit. Great numbers of engineer battalions provide entrenchment and maintenance, while laying and disarming minefields. Artillery and anti-air support is usually well defended, along with rare mechanized and armored formations. While mechanized formations are more mobile than infantry, armored vehicles are slow and hard-hitting, designed to deal with fortifications and hostile armor. Specialized anti-armor battalions also fulfill this role.
FIS Marine Corps
Marine Unit
Marine units are generally used offensively, supporting army units and establishing beachheads on hostile worlds. Though they are similar to Army units, they are generally much smaller. They also lack artillery and armored battalions, instead containing more mechanized formations and transports, along with naval and air support.
FIS Marine Army
Marine Army
Marine armies are smaller marine units with the logistical support necessary for independent operations in non-territorial space.
FIS National Guard
National Guard
National Guards consist entirely of civilian infantry, providing support to army units where overwhelming force is required.
FIS line corps
Naval Unit
Naval units are slightly smaller than average, and are composed of a large variety of ships, ranging from larger battleships and carriers to destroyers and minelayers.
FIS Power Projection Fleet
Light Naval Unit
Light naval units support the Talven Navy, while patrolling trade routes and dealing with pirates. Naval support for army and marine units is drawn from these.
FIS Air Command
Air Command
Air commands are mostly composed of defensive fighters, used to prevent stronger airforces from gaining air superiority in Talven space.
FIS Strategic Strike Corps
Strategic Strike Unit
Strategic strike units consist of bombers and minelaying aircraft, as well as the fighters needed to escort them through hostile space. These units also make use of cruise missiles.
FIS Supercarrier
Supercarrier
Supercarriers are enormous logistics craft which enable the independent operation of entire formations on the strategic scale.
FIS Super Star Dreadnought
Superdreadnought
Superdreadnoughts are colossal ships armed with enormous hyperspatial artillery guns for engagements with other similarly large vessels.
FIS Transport Corps
Transport Unit
Transport units provide the logistics and transports necessary for the redeployment of army, marine, and air units on the strategic scale.
FIS Logistic Corps
Logistics Unit
Logistics corps tether units engaged in operations to a center of supply on the strategic scale.
FIS Fortified Planet
Fortified Planet
A planetary fortress is a planet with facilities which enable it to endure a siege, such as a planetary shield, fortified bases, supply reserves, etc.

NavyEdit

The Talven navy adapted to fit two essential requirements: speed and survivability. Even the largest warships in the Talven fleet can usually outpace enemy fleets, and all Talven ships are equipped with state-of-the-art armor plating, made partially out of Zhakelei metal from the Azzinothe Empire, Kiridium from the Mithadorn Republic, and iridium (both mined and imported from the Stellar Union). Nano-robotics allows this armor to rapidly regenerate, while magnetic monopoles are used to strengthen it to a greater degree. Since the Talvo-Republica Pact, the Talven Empire has aquired enough magnetic monopoles for its entire fleet, along with non-phasic shield projectors.

After trade began with the Slukatian Empire, energy weapons in the Talven navy were enhanced with Slukatium. The Talven Empire also uses point defense systems imported from the Hegemony. The Slukation Empire also exports antimatter to the Talven Empire; this used in power generators aboard some warships, while the DoT has made some progress towards weaponizing it.

ShipyardsEdit

The Talven Empire's mobile shipyards are arguably the most impressive vessels in its navy. Developed during the Talva's migration through hostile space, they reduced the loss of industrial support when occupied systems were evacuated. After the dawn of the Talven Empire, it was decided that these shipyards should be kept in reserve in case the Empire was once again overwhelmed by hostile forces. Since then, a few more heavily armed shipyards have been constructed to form the core of any future Talven refugee fleet.

Class: Vulcan-class mobile shipyard
Armament:

Point-defense energy cannons

Defense:

Heavy armor plating
Heavy shielding

Operational: 17
Description:
Vulcan-class mobile shipyards are the most common form of shipyard in the Talven Empire. These shipyards usually avoid combat, as they have minimal offensive ability.
Notable examples:N/A

Class: Hephaestus-class mobile shipyard
Armament:

Heavy energy cannons
Point-defense energy cannons
Ion cannons
Kinetic cannons
Missile launchers
Heavy torpedo launchers

Defense:

Heavy armor plating
Heavy shielding

Operational: 4
Description:
The Hephaestus-class mobile shipyard is the pride of the Talven navy. Unlike the Vulcan-class, these shipyards are heavily armed, and are can thus take part in combat. A Hephaestus-class mobile shipyard can cobble together fighters in combat, making use of debris. However, these ships are unreliable and often dangerous to their pilot.
Notable examples:

  • The Flame of Ancora - the first of its kind.

WarshipsEdit

Class: Phoenix-class corvette
Armament:

Light energy canons
Point-defense energy cannons
Missile launchers
Torpedo launchers

Defense:

Medium armor plating
Heavy shielding
Cloaking device

Operational: 50-60
Description:
The Phoenix-class corvette is used by teams of elite troopers to operate behind enemy lines. It is considerably well armed and armored for its size, and possesses a cloaking device - making it far too expensive to be built in great numbers. The DFI has acquired some of these ships for its agents.
Notable examples:

Class: Pegasus-class corvette
Armament:

Light energy canons
Point-defense energy cannons
Missile launchers

Defense:

Light armor plating
Light shielding

Operational: 10000
Description:
A starting point for many military careers, the Pegasus-class corvette acts as an anti-fighter and support ship. It is not powerful enough to cause much harm to larger ships, but is often used as a distraction. Some captains make use of the corvette's speed and maneuverability by arming their ships with mines.
Notable examples:

Class: Chimera-class destroyer
Armament:

Medium energy cannons
Point-defense energy cannons
Kinetic cannons
Missile launchers

Defense:

Medium armor plating
Light shielding

Operational: 3500
Description:
The Chimera-class destroyer serves as an escort for larger warships. These ships are often used to protect trade convoys and hunt pirates.
Notable examples:N/A

Class: Ogre-class cruiser
Armament:

Medium energy cannons
Kinetic cannons
Missile launchers
Heavy torpedo launchers

Defense:

Medium armor plating
Medium shielding

Operational: 2500
Description:
Ogre-class cruisers are built to overwhelm enemy ships with a variety of weapons. These ships are also well armored, and can take concentrated fire for a long period of time before being destroyed. These ships are often found defending important colony worlds.
Notable examples:N/A

Class: Shaggra-class cruiser
Armament:

Medium energy cannons
Kinetic cannons
Missile launchers
Interdiction field

Defense:

Medium armor plating
Medium shielding

Operational: 15-20
Description:
A variant on the Ogre-class, Shaggra-class cruisers are equipped with tractor beams that can be deployed into hyperspace. Though the gathering of hypermatter, these ships can generate interdiction fields, 'trapping' nearby vessels.
Notable examples:

Class: Minotaur-class cruiser
Armament:

Missile launchers
Ram

Defense:

Heavy armor plating
Medium shielding

Operational: 500
Description:
The Minotaur-class cruiser was designed by the DoT with the sole purpose of ramming enemy ships. Consequentially, most of its structure is built to reinforce its armor. This also makes it the most hardy ship in the Talven fleet.
Notable examples:N/A

Class: Kraken-class carrier-ship
Armament:

Heavy energy cannons
Ion cannons
Kinetic cannons
Missile launchers
Tractor beams

Defense:

Heavy armor plating
Heavy shielding

Operational: 40-50
Description:
Kraken-class carrier-ships often act as the core of Talven fleets. Their enormous shield-bubbles allow smaller ships to seek shelter within them, while preventing kinetic, explosive, and energy weapons from entering. The protected ships are repaired and refueled by robotic support ships. Kraken-class carrier-ships also contain the immense supercomputers required to calculate and transmit coordinates for almost-instant hyperspatial jumps. These supercomputers (which are enhanced by Eldarisian Technology) also coordinate fleets during battle, and detect signs of the enemies tactics.
Notable examples:

  • Iubar's hammer, commanded by Balbus Marinus.
  • The Defiance.
  • The Fist of Iubar.

Class: Titan-class superdreadnought
Armament:

Heavy energy cannons
Point-defense energy cannons
Plasma cannons
Ion cannons
Kinetic cannons
Missile launchers
Tractor beams

Defense:

Heavy armor plating
Heavy shielding

Operational: 5-7
Description:
Titan-class superdreadnoughts have only recently come into production, and are designed to be flagships for the most experienced admirals in the empire. With cutting-edge arms (including magnetic monopole-enhanced plasma cannons) and armor, these ships take years to build.
Notable examples:N/A

StarfightersEdit

Talven fighters are not as maneuverable as conventional fighters, and instead act like mobile point-defense cannons. The upper half of each fighter consists of a reinforced shell surrounding a single cannon. The lower half of each fighter is lightly armored, covered instead by specialized equipment designed for their specific function. For this reason, the fighters usually travel in pairs.

Class: Inter-Ship Repair Vessel
Armament:

Point-defense energy cannon

Defense:

Heavy armor plating
Medium shielding

Description:
IS-RVs are the most common starfighters in the Talven Navy. They typically land on the hull of any ship that is being targeted by large amounts of hostile fighters or missiles, before firing at any of these targets that come within range. IS-RVs can also extend their shields to offer additional protection to the ship that they are defending. Their lower halves are covered by machinery for repairing anything below them.

Class: Inter-Ship Boarding Vessel
Armament:

Point-defense energy cannon

Defense:

Heavy armor plating
Medium shielding

Description:
IS-BVs are very similar to IS-RVs, but lack the ability to repair their 'hosts'. Instead, these starfighters are able to cut through the hulls of enemy vessels, allowing marines to sabotage or take over these ships. The DFI possesses several modified IS-BVs with cloaking devices.

Class: Inter-Ship Transport Vessel
Armament:

Anti-aircraft energy cannon
Torpedo launchers

Defense:

Medium armor plating
Light shielding

Description:
IS-TVs lack the heavy armor and shields possessed by other Talven starfighters. This is to make up for the space required for up to 15 soldiers, as well as their torpedo launchers and communications systems. IS-TVs act as troop carriers, bombers, and mobile command centers. They can fire in any direction, allowing them to point their shells towards enemy fire - either from above, or from armies below them. IS-TVs will usually land when deploying troops, providing shelter from heavy enemy fire. In space, IS-TVs are used to evacuate heavily-damaged ships, and thus remain a member of the IS class.
