The Scythe of Glory is a mysterious empire that has recently invaded the Mirus galaxy. They came from the void between galaxies and have not stopped in their path of conquest. They are an empire of warriors, with every citizen capable of combat. They are scavengers, destroying advanced empires to steal their technology. Their army is extremely strong, armed with very advanced plasma and cryo technology. Their primary species is one that developed in an ocean. While able to survive on land and even in space, they must wear cybernetic parts, including legs, when no tin their natural environment. Their cells are made of polarized silicon, preventing them from being assimilated or infected by anything. While only possessing fleet power and no colonies, this is all they need. Even their ships are partially organic.
History[]
The Scythe of Glory are rebels of a cephalopoid extragalactic empire known as the Stryptospondilus. They were a massive hive race, their empire spanning multiple galaxies. Those who would become the Scythe, who were members of the drone caste, were about as significant as work animals, being many times less advanced than the warrior cast. One of their number, the individual who would eventually go by the name of Dread, broke his link to the hive mind, and did the same with many others. Using their massively advanced technology to create warbeasts, bio and cyber weapons, and huge ships, they launched a coup, killing many warriors. Before the hive mind could reorganize from the shock of such an internal attack, the Scythe released a two-pronged attack. They released a virus into the computer systems, shutting down a galaxy-wide defense grid. They then released a biomechanical virus, which killed the organic parts of their overlords. Afterwards, the Scythe escaped the galaxy, eventually finding their way into the galaxy know as Mirus.
Great Mirusian Conflicts Year Two[]
The Scythe arrived in Mirus low on resources. They began harvesting other races to acquire what they needed. Despite being cavemen compared to their mother empire, they still managed to easily conquer all life they came across. They met their first real challenge when they encountered the Alpha Cyber Collective. Hostilities ensured almost immediately, ending in a one-sided Scythe victory. They would continue to beat back the Collective and their allies before being turned by the Bachyeon toward the Mirusian Church of Spode. On the way through, they would be assaulted by the Tarmealox Hierarchy in a trap laid out to them by the Grox, but Dread himself fought the High Prophet of Honor one on one, and nearly killed him, causing the Hierarchy to flee, and leave the path to the Mirusian Church of Spode open. Honor, however, would pursue the Scythe with the intent of wiping them out for their Grox gods.
They laid siege to the church's capital and overwhelmed it's defenses before being driven back. They retreated to recoup their losses, during which time they were contacted by an empire known as the Pseudopath. they arranged an alliance to destroy their common enemies. Soon after, the Pseudopath called for the launch of their attack.
The Scythe attacked first and inflicted extreme casualties on the Church's forces before their military commander, Ajaar'Magnos, drove their warbeasts and battlesuits back, at the cost of nearly all his men. As a result, he was poorly ready to drive back the Pseudopath, who easily defeated and almost killed him. With the Pseudopath firmly in control of the planet, the scythe of Glory left to pursue another of their enemies, the Waptoria Alliance of Species.
Culture[]
The culture of the Scythe is odd, something most would not understand. They view the universe as something they can exploit. They have lost their homeworld for an unknown reason, and because of this refuse to settle on any world. The scavenging of technology has given the Scythe a wide variety of cultural influence, but most of it is destroyed and assimilated. The culture of the species themselves is completely unknown.
Technology[]
The Scythe's technology is a mix of cybernetic and organic. Most of their vehicles are cybernetic animals from either their homeworld or creatures from similar environments. Many are also created by the Scythe directly. The Scythe species wear cybernetic armor when not in water. Theses suits include helmets, armor, and mechanical legs. Their infantry weapons include lasers, missiles, plasma, and cryo weapons. Most of their vehicles are either cybernetic creatures or mechanical construct built in emulation of creatures from their homeworld. The Scythe has advanced extremely quickly due to scavenging technology from defeated races.
Military[]
The military of the Scythe is huge, with every citizen ready for battle. Travelling on their vast fleets of starships, the Scythe can instantly deploy their forces against their enemy. They prefer to fight their foes on their planet rather than in space. The battle strategy of the Scythe can vary widely from planet to planet. Sometimes they release swarms of warbeast abominations. Other times they use armies of robots. Oftentimes, failures of these units leads to deployment of their primary force: legions of their own species equipped with advanced weapons and the occasional battlesuit. The Scythe's fighting tactics can vary extremely widely as they attack new targets and learn more about their foes. The Scythe relies on a combination of swarming tactics and high-powered units, making for a wide and flexible army.
Individuals[]
There are very few important individuals in the Scythe. Most of the main race are simply vat-grown and have very little personality. The only really important individual is Dread, the supreme commander of the Scythe.
- Name - Dread
- Rank - Supreme Commander
- Policy - Enforce the advancement of my empire.
- Dread is the supreme commander of the Scythe of Glory. While not evil per say, he is indeed seen as so by his enemies. He appears as a jet-black version of his species. His robotic legs, unlike those of the rest of his race, are plantigrade rather than digitigrade. Dread is the unchallenged ruler of his organization. None of his race can truly challenge him. Despite being a good commander and tactician, he also a quite capable warrior, able to take on several enemy troops by himself.
