The Order of Omock is an acient order of mages that was nearly destroyed by a rivial order of necromancers and are now currently rebuilding in the capital of the upstart Ulmaria Kingdom.

History[]

Early History[]

A good portion of the Order's early history was lost whenever the Great Sanctum of Omock was burnt down by the Black Sodality. The Order follows the teachings of a a powerful mage by the name of Omock the Enlightened. Omock had great knowledge of The Source and was a powerful user of it.

Writings claim that most of Omock's knowledge came from communing with the gods themselves. Thus the title of 'Enlightened'. After Omock's death (His death is a topic of debate. Some thing he is still alive in a magical coma or was ascended to serve at the right hand of the gods) several of his students formed an order based around the teaching of Omock. The followers of Omock's recruited those who wished to learn more in the ways of The Source and over time the Order became larger and more organized until it become recognized as one of the foremost mage guilds of its time.

Rise of the Black Sodality[]

The Order of Omock grew after many years as one of the largest and most powerful mage guilds in the world. The Order was well respected by most but to necromancers The Order was a symbol of oppression and ignorance. Necromancers where viewed as vermin by the Order.

At first the Order would merely shout and belittle necromancers but as its power grew mages of the Order would begin to actively hunt down necromancers. As the Order's crusade intensified necromancers began to come together for safety. Before long a powerful nercomancer going by the name 'Mortis' came to the forefront are suggestion the creation of a guild to rival the Order and overcome it. The Black Sodality.

With the new structure of the Black Sodality and masses of refugee necromancers fleeing from the ire of the Order. Over time the Black Sodality became strong and in a bold move Mortis declared war on The Order. While the Order has numbers the Black Sodality where sneaky and generally more powerful than the average Order mage due to most of the weaker necromancers being killed off by the the Order already. The Black Sodality was becoming a force to be reckoned with and soon it would strike at the very core of the Order. Mortis with the help of the other members of the Black Sodality raised an army of undead and marched to the main stronghold of the Order, the Great Sanctum of Omock. The battle that took place would go down in legend. Nearly 2,000 Order mages faced off against 300 master necromancers and their hordes of reanimated dead. While in the end the Order won but it was at a heavy cost. the Great Sanctum of Omock was razed to the the ground and a good deal of the liberty was lost in the fire. The surviving members took what was left and of value of the Great Sanctum and went into hiding. What happened to the Black Sodality is unknown.

Into hiding[]

Taking what was salvageable from the razed Sanctum and surviving order members fled into the mountains fearing another attack from the Black Sodality. The Order set up a new stronghold in a large mountain cave. There the Order would stay to the point of near death for several hundred years.

Currently History[]

With the recent formation of the Ulmaria Kingdom the Order of Omock has been given permission to set up a college within the Kingdom's capital of Falgon in exchange for magical guidance and whatnot. The Order is using the college in Falgon to help rebuild the Order's numbers and influence

Teachings[]

The Order of Omock follows the teachings of the great mage, Omock. Omock devised several 'classes' of magical usage. Though these classes merely exist to help simplify the learning of magic and the ways of The Source it was believed by Omock that this system was used by the gods themselves.

  • Inner Magic - Inner magic is the use of The Source for personal health, long life, and enlightenment.
  • Restoration Magic - Restoration magic is the use of The Source to cure diseases and hear others. It also covers defensive magic used to protect the user.
  • Combative Magic - The use of The Source as a weapon. This class is the most varied and combative magic can be channeled in different forms for different effects. Such as electricity, fire, ice, ect.
  • Summoning Magic - A slightly controversial and very advanced class of magic that uses The Source to summon magical beings into the mortal realm. Very few mages are able to even begin to understand this class of magic then alone master it.
  • Forbidden Magic - Forbidden magic is a class of magic considered to be evil and unfit to use. Most notably necromancy.
