Emotions make mortals so...stubborn. Much better after the golden touch, wouldn't you agree? Then again, silly question. You cannot disagree.

- The Ravenrii
Gilding-1

The eye of a Gilded alien subject, the gold pupil betraying the Ravenrii hidden within.

Gilding, also called the "Bliss" or the "gold touch", is a form of possession cast by the Obvia'Atra on some mortal species. Gilding allows a Raven to seize control of another's body and manipulate it, essentially replacing its mind. Gilded individuals are stripped of their free will, and their body left thoughtless. The single telltale sign of Gilding can be seen as soon as takeover is complete: the eyes of the invaded (if any), will invariably turn gold, and its pupils disappear. This is a sign of submission as the new Ravenrii mind sets in and the beings' is "pushed back". Over time, other signs of the unwordly occupation appear. Gilded beings, inhabited as they are by a Pure entity, are inadvertently granted longetivity and strength. The Ravenrii consider it an act of mercy because Gilding repels the negative effects of mortality.

Gilded beings will rarely, if ever, resist occupation. In most of these cases, the invading Raven is simply too strong to be beaten. However, Gilding has long been infamous for making a host feel relaxed- and even blissful- when under the influence, making it a sometimes tempting state of being and, like a mind-numbing drug, one rather hard to fight back.
