Central to the trade and business in Pact society, are the guilds that dominate certain industries and jobs, organizing members and giving them a voice on the Mendel Council and keeping the ear of the High King/Queen. Guilds influence is based directly on their importance at hand to the Mendel populace in question, with the Artifice, Mining and Brewery Guilds having far greater influence and membership then the Animal Tamer's Guild. Each Guild Leader is as hard a worker as those beneath him, as it is considered despicable and culturally offensive for the leader of a company or work place to make more money and not do anything to deserve it.

Guilds are, by common law, divided very heavily in their area of expertise. The Farmer's Guild, for example, employs and represents the farmers who grow wheat, vegetables, and the fruits and materials for alcohol, but may not prepare it, with the Brewery Guild handling the fermentation process, preparation and bottling, then the Trade Guild providing ships and resources to transport it. Each Guild and their workers are expected to do one very specific thing, and any attempt to break that process could result in a monopoly of power.

Guilds are run democratically, with all workers under it voting based on conditions, pay and other factors who gets to earn the top positions of the Guild.

Engineering Guild[]

Aye lad, what can we build for ya?

The Engineering Guild is one of the largest in Mendel space, and employs the workers within MendelMotors, MendelUnitech and other corporations to build everything from new weapons, transports, rocket trams, drinking halls and offices, their builders employed in a wide array of subjects, but usually focused on designing new ships and weapons. The Engineering Guild are made up of the "Guild-Smiths", genius members of the Clans who take to building and tinkering as much as possible, and always seeking to build new things on whatever may catch their interest, from a new Shotgun that can fire molten rounds, to a device that can purify water and food of any poisons contained within it. They've enjoyed wide influence, due to the sheer volume of things they build, and many High Kings and Queens have given them their personal blessing, giving the Guild a vast level of influence.

Guild-Smiths will often accompany armies to keep vehicles running, and do advanced maintenance, as tank and artillery crews have some basic knowledge of repairs and maintenance, but it is the Guild-Smiths that can do the more advanced work. They use their advanced gadgets and gear to improve fire power, provide shielding to their allies and disorient and blind enemy forces that come too close.

Brewery Guild[]

A bit of Liquid Fortification puts the fight of Hoorangiir in even the most mewling chicken-shit.

- Brew-master Bouraz Bergman

The second most powerful Guild in the Pact, the Brewery Guild handles the fermentation of alcohol and creation of Beers, Wines and Mead for their Clan members to enjoy and sup upon the drinks during holidays, celebrations and weekends. The Brewery Guild brings in the wheat and other materials from the Farmer's Guild and other Trading Guilds, and handles the preparation, processing and storage of their various alcohols. The Engineer's Guild builds the storage shops for their beer and wine, holding multiple cellars and different storage zones for their kettles, casks and other alcoholic beverages, different tempratures and air quality maintained for each of the alcholic kegs. Every Hold and Clan Fort maintains a large brewery for storing their things, the larger holds having larger storehouses. Even their most isolated Outposts and lands will have a small shop for a few casks of wine and mead after a long day at the mines or a battle with pirates. If not, these Outposts often have read access to alcohol from other Holds and Keeps.

The Brew-Masters of the Guild, rowdy-faced and often sporting a bit of a gut from all their beer-slugging, often have deep connections with other Empires and Kingdoms, bringing in the alcohol of other Species, be it Draconis Wine, Libertus Spirits and countless others. The Brewmasters further also have deep connections with the Olympian Chapters, brewing alcohol hard enough to get the super soldiers drunk and buzzed, for those that do sup alcohol.

Animal Tamer's Guild[]

Ya can't just go throwin together features that look good without thought! Come on, think before ya breed em!

The Animal Tamer's Guild is one of the lesser Guilds, most responsible for studying animals both in the wild and in domestic life, and seeing how they react and interact with new environments. Conservation, selective breeding and maintaining habitats all fall under the control of this Guild. Though originally a secondary notary in the Guild Councils, the Animal Tamer's have begun to gain more influence as of late, as the Orgaat have used their resources to better prepare their beastial kin like the Hounds, Ornalocs and others that have become feral. Such is their favoring of the Guild, that it also represents partial Orgaat interests, making it important the High Kings and Queens listen intently to what their allies think.

The Animal Tamer's Guild also acts to help their allies in conservation efforts, the Guild having especially strong influence among the Waptoria.
