This page will undergo a major revamp soonEdit
The history of the Jovar is long and interesting, and is a major part of their culture, even to this very day.
Pre-Jovar Empire EraEdit
The Jovar began life as simple cells in the western ocean, Asoda, about 3 billion years ago. They evolved four legs after the development of the brain and went onto the continent Tyrellius. The carnivorous creatures began to devour everything in their path. Shortages of food forced them to migrate away from the shore, where hostility was met. With the threat of birdlike carnivores among them, the Jovar developed membranous wings. Over time, the became feathered, but an unknown mutation in the gene pool turned the red-furred Jovar's wings blue. Millions of years later, the Jovar developed a brain large enough to achieve sapience, and eventually, they created fire and began to come together in large colonies.
Battle for DominanceEdit
The Jovar became sapient soon after, but many other species did as well. The Jovar tribe was full of fierce warriors who were quick to destroy everything, from tribes to epics. They became very powerful, and many other species feared them after they destroyed two tribes in less than a week. Soon after they conquered the continent, boats were sent out to reach the other continents in hopes to conquer them as well, which they did with little opposition.
The Jovar were now the top species, but different views on how to rule the planet rose, and many Jovar split away from the original nation. The USD (United State Democracy) approached the other countries by military means. At first, the USD attempted to contact other nations by peaceful, negotiable approaches. However, many nations refused to comply with many of the USD's offers or orders. The USD's only option was to declare war.
For at least 170 years, wars were fought almost entirely with large tanks, called Devastators. However, it seemed that every powerful nation's goal was air supremacy. Of course, the USD won this battle. As soon as aircraft were invented, they were put into service almost immediately, and soon, enemy countries were devastated. However, it wasn't long before other nations figured out how to lift vehicles into the air. But the USD, among other countries, were also looking at a completely different weapon, which had far more devastating effects. A nuclear bomb.
The climax of civilization on Jora occurred when the major powers were forced to fire nukes upon one another. The nuclear winter that followed devastated every living thing on the planet. For over 500 years, the world was plunged into a dark age. Technology still thrived as normal, but there was almost no organized, central government. Eventually, a group of survivors banded together to create a new USD. In the next 100 years, the Jovar would become a space-faring species.
The Jovar Empire EraEdit
The Jovar Empire (official the Confederation of Independent Jovar States) was founded on the planet Jora as a simple attempt by the surviving Jovar population to rule under a single, fair yet strong democratic government. Previously, the planet's bickering nations were destroyed in nuclear war. For 500 years, the species was left with no rulers, no government, no society.
The idea of a one-world government seemed bizarre. It had been attempts to create a one-world government that had destroyed Jora in the first place, had it not? But the Confederation had different ideas. They not only wanted to control Jora, but also colonize other nearby planets. After years of planning, the Confederation began a massive takeover of Jora, cleansing of nuclear radiation and promising Jovar villages large surpluses of food, at a time when food was rare. Within two years, the entire Jovar population had been convinced that the Confederation was a worthy government for the species, and the entire population had been brought up from poverty and slum-like conditions to an almost Utopian life.
At the same time, Confederation scientist and engineers were creating a spacecraft capable of interplanetary travel. After ten years of research and creating, the Jovar launched their first successful manned flight to another planet, the temperate planet Naylesti. It was here that an accidental discovery of an important piece of technology would be made: the interstellar drive.
Although the engine was extremely limited, it allowed the Jovar to reach a whole new level of technological advancement. They could now travel faster than the speed of light, which seemed an almost impossible feat at the time. They began to colonize several outlying planets in nearby systems.
Their first contact with another species occurred on a planet about 10 parsecs away from Jora. Thankfully for the young empire, the species they met was extremely peaceful and friendly. The two races soon began to trade goods and ideas with one another.
Meanwhile, back at home, government reform was being made. The Confederation had now become corrupt, and after a brief civil war, the government was overthrown, and it was replaced by a powerful constitutional monarchy. The grand capital was relocated to Chlen, and Haelsier was terraformed from a natural Tier-1 planet to a more suitable Tier-2 planet. A high court and Parliament was set up to help the Chancellor rule, and a new Constitution was written to help balance the government so that it would never become too powerful. This was the start of a new age in the empire's history.
Great Age of DiscoveryEdit
With a new government and a new ally, the Jovar began to spread through faster than ever. Within a year of the formation of the new government (1 NEY) the empire spread from 10 planets to 55 planets. By 3 NEY, the empire had spread to over 75 planets. This was achieved by a new policy created by the government that required that all other species be exterminated at first contact. The policy was great for spreading the empire, but it made other species naturally hostile to them; as a result, it was not uncommon during this time for a colony to be randomly attacked by an unknown species.
A century after the founding of a new government, the Jovar now ruled over 300 star systems, and it only continued to grow, in part due to great advancements in weapons technology. At the same time, Osion, a planet near Jora, began to grow from a simple spice colony to a major contributor to science and engineering for the empire. The planet was unique, because it was the first planet to be successfully terraformed from Tier-0 to Tier-3 by normal means, while orbiting binary blue giant stars at a distance of only 56 million miles away. It was also special for its rare white spice, which had previously only been known to exist on gas giants.
However, during the Great Age of Discovery, another discovery was also made: the Grox.
The first contact with the Grox was initiated in 128 NEY, when a Grox scouting fleet accidentally landed in the space occupied by Osion's defense fleet. Although the Grox were easily eliminated, they struck back, destroying or devastating many outpost on the outskirts of Jovar territory. The Jovar struck back by completely skipping an entire portion of their galactic arm to conquer, and focusing nearly their entire armada on the Core worlds of the Milky Way. Fighting became fierce as the Jovar suddenly reached a stalemate halfway to the Galactic Core. The Jovar were pushed back, and the war seemed hopeless.
However, the Battle of Terma-3 was a turning point in the war. In 153 NEY, a massive Grox fleet, encompassing nearly all of their military force, attempted a final push against a dwindling Jovar army. However, the battle turned for the worst for the Grox, partly because of the destruction of the Grox mothership. The Grox were defeated at the battle, and the Jovar began a steady invasion of Grox territory, while at the same time obtaining the Staff of Life. The Grox homeworld was discovered shortly after the Staff of Life, and the Staff's first use was on the homeworld, turning it from a dead rock to a beautiful Tier-3 planet in mere seconds. By 203 NEY, the Grox Empire in the Left Core was officially destroyed.
Human Origins and the Beginnings of the First Jovar Civil WarEdit
With peace in the galaxy at last, the Jovar could finally relax. Or so they thought.
Then suddenly, on the planet of Hgor, a strange spaceship was unearthed from the eons-old surface. The spaceship was almost completely intact, and the inside was filled with technological marvels never seen by the Jovar before, such as intergalactic hyperdrives and wormhole keys. But what was even more startling was an ancient book that contained the history of an ancient race, known simply as the humans.
Also discovered inside the spaceship was a large map with dots all over the galaxy. Strangely, one of these dots was on Jora's coordinates. Jovar scientist were puzzled. As they continued their research, they discovered the meaning of the dots: they were the coordinates for special "life-bearer probes" that were distributed throughout the Milky Way, delivering human DNA to specific planets that were young and only beginning to grow. The date was nearly 3 billion years before. And Jovar scientist made a startling connection: the first ancestors of life on Jora were discovered to have existed at around the same time the probes had been launched. 3 billion years ago.
Jovar scientist could not believe what they were know beginning to understand: the Jovar were the creation of another species. But not just ANY species. The humans had be revered by nearly all species to be the bringers of all modern technology to the galaxy. They were almost sacred to the Galaxy.
Another mystery was also about to be resolved: the long lost location of the ancient planet Earth. Earth's location had been long forgotten ever since the humans disappeared. However, the spacecraft that the Jovar discovered told them exactly where to find Earth. With a fleet of about 1,000 ships, the Jovar empire set out to colonize the ancient human homeworld. Within a year of its colonization, Earth competed with Osion and Jora as the most powerful planets in the Empire.
First Jovar Civil WarEdit
After this time period, the empire prospered economically, martially, and diplomatically. Most people within the empire were quite pleased with their success, particularly in the diplomatic views the Jovar had recently created. The old "destroy all others" military policy had slowly been phased out, and the empire became diplomatically approachable. Their first intergalactic ally, the Core Federation marked the end of the policy once and for all, about 250 years after Earth's discovery. Most citizens were quite pleased with this new idea of expansion.
However, extremist (mostly within the military) were deeply displeased with this, and preferred pure annihilation over alliances. Amassing a decent-sized fleet of powerful Jovar warships, this group (naming itself the Confederation) began to attack weak, lightly defended colonies on the outskirts of the empire. This marked the beginning of the First Jovar Civil War.
The civil war lasted only 2 Joran years. However, it cost nearly 2 billion Jovar lives and even led to the destruction of a planet. The most significant battle of the war was the Battle of Auder-2. The assault on the planet cost half of the entire war's casualties alone, and marked the single largest concentration of capital ships in battle against one another in the entire empire's history (until the War of Ages). The Confederation's entire fleet was nearly obliterated by the end of the battle, and it was forced into hiding.
However, another important event also occured: The Hostage Crisis. This involved the kidnapping of the Omnipotent Captian himself, Jovar III, and his eventual rescue over Osion, before it was saved from destruction.
The war's end marked peace in the empire. Or did it?
Approximately 20 years before the discovery on Hgor, Chlen served as the target of a terrorist attack on a small Spode embassy in Chlen. Large portions of the city were damaged, and the culprits of the attack were the Jarquvix, a anti-Spode extremist nation. Although the Jarquvix were hated at first, the Jovar later became allies with the government, partly because of a secret economic agreement between corrupt senators and the Jarquvix. Joining the Jarquvix Federation, their military began its first true intergalactic show of power and might, which made some Jovar citizens proud and zealous of their species's might.
However, it soon became apparent that they were being used by the Jarquvix, as nearly all of the Federation's military was made up of Jovar soldiers and ships. The citizens were clearly aware of this, and uprisings all over the empire began. With the aid of the Sylit Republic and Core Federation, Chancellor Vromm III and the rest of the Jovar quietly seceded from the Federation. Other nations within it also began rebellions and secessions, and the Jarquvix Federation began to collapse completely.
Although temporarily weakened by the departure, the Jovar would quickly recover, and far surpass the Jarquvix in the intergalactic arena. They played a very tiny part in the devastating War of Ages. But the true power of the Jovar was fully unleashed in the Intergalactic War, a battle between the Rambo/United Republic of Cyrranus and the fanatical Cognatus Alliance. Aiding their allies, the Jovar often found themselves outnumbered, but continued to succeed, thanks to their powerful and reliable capital ships. The Jovar also played a major in the Battle of Sol, during the Imperial Civil War, in which they defended Earth from the evil Tokzhalan Empire.
Most likely, the Empire will continue to find success in the intergalactic community. Their continuing strength and victories have continued to prove this.
