History[]

The Imperial Army was the ground force of the Jinaris Empire was formed after the foundation of the Empire after the defeat of the Martian Empire in the Martian-Terran war. It played an extremely important role in the great crusade against the Insectrons the army is divided into three branches; the Army, the Imperial Knights and the Imperial Marines. Under Articles 281 and 282 of the Constitution, the Imperial Armed Forces remained subordinate to the Emperor as commander in chief the exercise focused a lot on training soldiers seeking the best performance on the battlefield. Under Articles 75 and 76 the Imperial Armed Forces were subordinate to the Emperor as supreme commander. He was assisted by the Ministers of War and the Navy in matters relating to the Imperial Army and the Imperial Navy.

Structure[]

The Emperor had full control of the armed forces, but used a highly complex organizational structure. The basic peacetime organizational structure of the Imperial Army was the Army inspection, the army corps, the division and the regiment. During the war, Army personnel inspected the formed field army commands, which controlled the corps and subordinate units.

Corps: The corps consisted of two or more divisions and several support troops, covering a geographical area. The body was also responsible for maintaining the reserves In wartime, the army corps became a mobile tactical formation. The areas previously covered by the corps each became the responsibility of a military district. Military districts went to oversee the training and recruitment of reservists and new recruits. Originally each Military District was linked to an army corps.

Division: The basic tactical formation was the division. The standard imperial division consisted of two infantry brigades of two regiments each, an armored cavalry brigade of two regiments, and an artillery brigade of two regiments. In 916, they were reorganized, receiving engineering companies and other support units for their corps. Reserve divisions were also formed, brigades were added into divisions and other divisions were formed from replacement. As the Delta-Imperial war progressed, additional divisions formed and by the end of the war, 15,251 divisions were formed or reformed in the structure of the Imperial Army.

Regiment: The regiment was the basic combat unit, as well as the base for recruiting soldiers. When introduced, a soldier entered a regiment, usually through his replacement battalion, and received basic training. There were three basic types of regiment: infantry, armored cavalry and artillery. Other specialties, such as pioneers (combat engineers) and signal troops, were organized into smaller support units. Regiments also carried Prussian traditions.

The Order of Orbital Knights[]

Attached to the the Order of Orbital Knights and in some ways their precursors are the Kaiserliche Ulhans, which is simultaneously the cavalry force of the Jinaris Empire. The Ulhans are made up of those surviving Horsemen of Destiny which found a new home on Eden, as well as any Human brave or foolhardy enough to pass the unit's enhancement procedures. In order to be eligible at all, one must volunteer and pass a series of rigorous trails involving horsemanship. When these are cleared, the prospective Ulhan is fully briefed on how they will be enhanced and given a chance to opt out. After the enhancements are made in full, which includes the partial destruction and reconstruction of the volunteer's body, their final challenge is to mount one of the cybernetic destriers that were traditionally ridden by the Horsemen of Destiny. Compared to the previous trials, this one is almost trivially easy by comparison and it is indeed more of an initiation rite than it is a true test. At the end of this exercise, the steed becomes the initiate's own and they are given a new name by Kataphrakt-Rittmeister Konstanz von Schädel.

A form of the Eques Ferrum also exist within the Jinaris Empire, are likewise attached to the Orbital Knights and are known as the Kaiserliche Dragoons. In order to qualify, Ulhans must have reached the rank of captain and distinguished themselves in combat. Such prospective Dragoons must tame a ferocious, genetically-engineered beast straight from house Jinaris' heraldry. If this is done, they are formally knighted a Dragoon by Lucios IV von Jinaris with the beast serving as their new mount. As such beasts are made to symbolise the house of Jinaris' might upon the battlefield, Dragoons often serve the emperor personally.
