This nation is a member of the Xonexi Allies.

The Farengeto Trade Coalition is a political and economic organization founded in 2794 following the conclusion of the Dominatus War in Katar, which saw the creation of the Farengeto Occupation Zone. While officially not a unified state, decades of expansion have transformed the Coalition into a representation of the territories and sphere of influence of the Farengeto Republic.

History[]

Formation[]

The Farengeto Trade Coalition arose in the aftermath of the Dominatus War. Unable to directly annex and control its new territory, in 2794 the Farengeto Republic proposed an economic and political organization to maintain de facto governance of the occupation zone, with a secondary body to facilitate trade and economic growth with its allies, laying the basis for what would later become the Farengeto Trade Coalition.

Lightning War[]

On January 1st, 2795 Farengeto was among the empires to join the disastrous Lightning War against the Grand Tarkan Empire. Tekari's battlegroup, consisting of Farengeto, Ezlangei, and Sindar ships, lead an invasion of the Tarkan mainland from the Farengeto Occupation Zone. The front culminated in the Battle of Heleni, which resulted in a military disaster for the KSA that devastated the Farengeto Navy. The battle became notable for Tekari's controversial usage of outlawed "superweapons".

The peace treaty forced Farengeto to secede large portions of the Farengeto Occupation Zone to the Tarkan Empire.

The Imperial Age[]

Watcha is devestated, the Aeoneonatrix have vanished, the Ezlangei are on the brink of collapse, the UFPC has pulled out the KSA, an "Alliance" which couldn't even stop the Tarkans from annexing countless Coalition systems, and you want to say that the situation in the sector has improved? The Lightning War has proved the inadequacy of the Alliance. The golden age was over before it began, Chancellor; idealism has failed.

- Senator Rakavaz, in response to Chancellor Harenia, January 2796

Between the Dominatus War and the Lightning War Unaria's policies of peace and diplomacy had failed, and she was unable to maintain support in the elections of 6 FUC (2796), losing to Ardev Rakavaz.

With the elections of 6 FUC (2796) the Coalition underwent massive reform, electing a Farengeto for the unified territories of the Republic, promising fair representation by population. It also introduced the Trade Council, a body created to facilitate trade with its allies. Uaria was unable to maintain her support as her policies of peace failed in the years of conflict, leading to her defeat to Senator Ardev Rakavaz.

The Federation of Ezlangei was thrown into chaos after the lightning war, and in early 2796 the government would collapse. Farengeto and the Draconid Imperium would intervene, leading to its territory being split between the two states. This crisis would lead to the first outcries of imperialism against the Chancellor, who would increasingly promote more expansionist and autocratic policies.

The disappearance of the Aeoneonatrix had sparked increasing offensives by the Gargator Empire across Delcath. With a rising death count Farengeto rallied the independent nations of the region in an anti-Gargator coalition. The controversial agreement created a military and political alliance to oppose the Gargator, and laying the groundwork for the integration of the many races of Delcath into the Farengeto Trade Coalition.

In the early months of 2797 the Farengeto would complete the development and construction of their transwarp prototype ship, the Loviak, making revolutionary progress through their allies and the influence of TekNet. Following a failure in the prototype drive the ship was captured by the Gargator Empire. Unable to reach a compromise, the situation escalated to full-scale war, dubbed the Transwarp War. Using a small fleet of secret and fully functional transwarp military starships, Admiral Tekari launched a sneak attack on the Gargator core worlds. An accident during the attack on Gargator homeworld lead to the planet being heavily devastated, resulting in the death of billions and the collapse of the central Gargator government. A wave of political and religious unrest swept across the Gargator, and their disunited forces were swiftly overrun with the arrival of the combined fleets of the FTC and their Delcathian allies. In the aftermath the Gargator Empire were annexed as a protectorate of the FTC.

With the successful pacification of the Gargator, the FTC and the its allies enacted the controversial Sudal Accords. The Accords annexed the Gargator as a protectorate of Farengeto and enacted a military and political agreement between its signatories to restrict the spread and exercise of religion.

His support declining, Rakavaz launched Farengeto's first extragalactic colonial venture, using a recently rediscovered wormhole to the Cyrannus Galaxy. The colonists would eventually arrive in Quadrant 82 several months later, forming the Farengeto Quadrant Colonies. The colonies would grow rapidly with billions flocking to a new galaxy, though the operation proved expensive and Rakavaz was unable to gain the support he hoped. Using their ties with the Drodo, who had also colonized nearby, Farengeto would find a valuable ally in France.

Boosted through efforts from Senator Harenia and their new alliances, the Coalition found itself with increasing intergalactic significance and joined new organizations including the Orion League, the Neutrality Zone Trade Organization through its Quadrant colonies, and the Gigaquadrantic Intergalactic Trade Organization. Farengeto directly reaped the benefits of their involvement, from the construction of Frontier 1 over the Cyrannian Wormhole to the GITO wormhole over Farengeto as the planet was selected as the Katarian economic capital. With the construction of the wormhole, the Coalition was able to reestablish full connection with the Quadrant colonies. Despite an eventual defeat, Unaria became a leading contender for the Orion League leadership elections.

The Great Xonexian Schism[]

Rakavaz's radical policies would make him extremely controversial, with widespread opposition in some regions. After a chaotic campaign in the 8 FUC (2800) elections Eruran Tekar, CEO of the Tekar Corporation and creator of TekNet, would be elected Chancellor in a surprise victory.

Under Tekar Farengeto would expand its colonies to much of the Delcath subsector, and would take over the Former Mardor Territories and Mandatory Mardor Empire from the United Federation of Species. Using deals with superpowers including the Draconid Imperium, France, and Rambo Nation, Farengeto advanced its technology by centuries in a technological revolution unmatched in magnitude, and through foreign ships and their own reverse engineered versions the Coalition built a military that rivalled the Drodo.

Despite the growing intergalactic instability, the early year of the new octade was prosperous for Farengeto, with the Coalition opening its markets to trade across the Gigaquadrant. Farengeto's corporations grew in power during this era, adapting quickly to the revolution with massive leaps in many fields virtually overnight.

As a member of the Orion League, following the Orion Proclamation in 2802 Farengeto would be among the nations to sign the Parisian Declaration along with many of its new allies. Farengeto would come under attack for the first time since its formation in the First Battle of Katar, and after a climatic battle between the DCP and the core armies of the Xonexi Allies in the Battle of Farengeto the DCP were successfully repelled.

Politics[]

The Farengeto Trade Coalition is a political entity based around its two constituent organizations: the Farengeto Federation and the Farengeto Trade Council. While by most definitions the Coalition functions as a state, legally it claims to instead only be an international organization with independent member states. This unusual status initially emerged during the early formation of the FTC, following legal disputes over attempts to integrate Farengeto's protectorate in the Republic.

While Farengeto has rapidly expanded during its early history, its bureaucracy has struggled to keep pace. The numerous branches and divisions of Farengeto have spiralled into a complex and convoluted bureaucratic web. Authority is often confusing and even overlapping.

Despite the mess that forms the Farengeto bureaucracy has managed to function surprisingly well, in part due to manipulation by the TekNet AI. However to combat the strain the Coalition has become increasingly reliant on Artificial Intelligence to supplement its bureaucracy.

Farengeto Federation[]

The Farengeto Federation is a federation of nominally independent states that forms the main political branch of the Farengeto Trade Coalition. As the political entity behind the Coalition, the Federation is often used interchangeably with the Coalition as a whole. The Farengeto Federation styles itself as a loose confederation of member states that remain independent, however in practice it functions as a more centralized federated state under the control of the Farengeto Republic.

The Legislative branch of the Federation consists of the Farengeto Senate, a Unicameral legislature consisting of 1024 elected representatives. Members states and territories with representation in the senate elect Senators using proportional representation, with each Senator serving a term of two Farengeto years (approximately 4.2 Earth years).

The Grand Council of the Federation serves as the FTC's executive branch. Each full member state is granted one seat on the Council, with the exception of the Farengeto Republic who possess one seat for each of its four founding species. The senators of a member state each elect their respective Council members. While not required, Councilors have historically been appointed from their region's senators.

The Grand Council is led by the Chancellor of Farengeto, who functions as both "head of state" and head of government for the Federation. The Chancellor thus is typically treated as the leader of the Farengeto Trade Coalition as a whole. The Chancellor is a appointed from the membership of the Council through a majority vote of the Senate, and serves for the full senate term. Chancellors are generally the leader of the largest party or coalition in the Senate.

Chancellors and other members of the Council may be recalled from their position by a supermajority vote of no confidence from the Senate, however the Senate must immediately approve a new candidate by majority vote or the recall will fail.

Membership[]

The Farengeto Federation possesses several "types" of membership, reflecting the level of integration and politcal representation of its territory.

  • Member state: The highest and "standard" level of membership in the Federation, these states are considered to be full members of the Federation. Member states are developed territories, and possess a stable, functional government. They are the most integrated into the Federation, and are typically the least autonomous. In addition to their full representation in the Farengeto Senate, each member state is also granted a seat on the Grand Council (with the special exception of the Farengeto Republic's four seats).
  • Protectorate: Protectorates are the general label for any state or other political entity under the protection of the Farengeto Trade Coalition that is not a full member state. As a result the characteristics of each protectorate vary wildly from one to another. Generally these Protectorates will surrender some degree of independence to the Federation, in exchange for benefits such as enhanced trade, advanced technology or development funding. They are also obligated to pay fees to the Coalition which are used to fund areas such as the armed forces, and the development of devestated and/or less advanced members.
    • Class I Protectorates are the basic form of Protectorate, and consist of any Protectorates that are not granted representation in the Senate. They are also the more broad form of Protectorate, encompassing a wide range of cases. The most common form of these are what are sometimes referred to as the "Scutum-Crux Trade States", a group of states throughout the Scutum-Crux Arm of the Milky Way who recieve protection, technology, and access to Farengeto's trade networks in exchange for bases and logistical support for Farengeto's long-range security fleets. States on the opposite end of the spectrum include states under military occupation by Farengeto. The Mandatory Mardor Empire remains the primary example of this, having remained in intermittent martial law since being made a KSA Mandate in 2793 with little autonomy.
    • Class II Protectorates are the more advanced form of Protectorate. These states typically are more integrated and have less autonomy than Class I Protectorates, but gain representation in the Farengeto. In most cases these are "promoted" from the Class I Protectorates, having chosen to increase their ties to the Coalition. In their advanced form Class II Protectorates are considered to be Member States in all but name, having nearly all benefits and rights of Member States except for representation in the Grand Council. Thus this stage is generally considered to be a step in the process of becoming a full member. The most notable examples of these states are KSA mandates such as the Former Mardor Territories and the former occupation zones in Lower Katar, who remain unable to be upgraded to full members until statebuilding efforts are completed and the mandates are replaced with proper states.
  • Colonial Territory: Colonial Territories represent recently colonized territories that do not belong to any individual member state. With the rapid and sometimes joint or private colonization of worlds in recent decades, many new colonies could not be appropriately assigned to any single member state. Many new colonies are thus instead assigned to a colonial territory, a special class of "member state" which possesses Senate representation but lacks Council membership or often any sort of singular region-wide government. The administration and boundaries of these territories as a whole are overseen by the Federation government, though numerous planetary and smaller regional governments will exist within them. As these regions become more developed systems can choose to join an existing member state, or organize themselves into a new state.

Political Parties[]

Conservative Coalition
The Conservative Coalition is a wide party primarily composed of factions opposed to the Federation or the Coalition as a whole. The party dates to the formation of the Farengeto Republic, originally formed as a loose counter-movement seeking the dissolution of the fledgling union. Mainstream elements of the modern party typically seek to weaken the authority of the Coalition. Despite this, the party continues to provide a refuge for a number of nationalist and seccessionist factions, who seek to dissolve or secede from the Farengeto Trade Coalition. Many of is members share a traditionalist agenda, and over time the party has further developed an agenda of social conservatism. Even this is not without its internal dispute, with different species disagreeing on what shape these ideas take. These disputes are usually reconciled through their policy on rights for members states, in theory allowing each to implement their respective stance.

Centrist Party
The Centrist Party was formed from the split of the Farengeto Party. Unlike their original parent party, the Centrists believe in a centralized state, with the current loose alliance of states replaced by a proper and centralized federation. Centrists also possess a more moderate political agenda than that of the Farengeto Party. Initial fractured by its controversial early alliance with Chancellor Rakavaz and the Conservative Coalition, the party found its organization under the leadership of Eruran Tekar. The core political agenda of the Centrists is centralization. They seek to create a strong central government for Farengeto, and to strengthen its central institutions. They also seek to reform the constitution, replacing its weak political structure with one more reflective of the modern Federation government. Centrists also advocate more military funding, to protect Farengeto's rapidly growing empire. Under Tekar's leadership the Centrists have developed a pro-corporate agenda, and their policies have been one of the driving forces of the rapid political and economic growth of Farengeto's megacorporations. Their agenda focuses highly on the continued rapid economic growth of Farengeto. However they are also commonly accused of being too close to these corporations, particularly the Tekar Corporation.

Farengeto Party
The Farengeto Party originates from the parties and groups associated with the "United Farengeto" movement spearheaded by Unaria Harenia after the Great Farengeto War. The leaders behind the formation of Farengeto, its members are still often the most vocal advocates for its continued diplomatic expansion. The party is built around the so-called Farengeto ideology, with many of its core tenets serving as the basis of the Farengeto constitution. The Farengeto Party focuses on a very liberal social agenda, built on the idea of "equality for all". The Farengeto Party advocates for a decentralized federation. The party believes that member states should be allowed to maintain many of their rights to self-determination.

Katarian Reconstruction Party
The Katarian Reconstruction Party focused on the Farengeto's KSA mandates and their development. The party entered prominence in the early 2800s over percieved slowness in the redevelopment of Lower Katar after the Dominatus War. It would soon find additional support from the Former Mardor Territories following their transfer to Farengeto. It has further attempted to extend its agenda to the minor races in Delcathian colonial territories, particularly those attacked by the Gargator. The party primarily focuses on two main subjects: the redevelopment of the mandates, and statebuilding efforts within them. The Reconstructionists wish to see these territories redeveloped, replacing the buildings of their oppressors with their culture's architecture. This has become a point of particular contention in Lower Katar. Many wish to see all Dominatus structures destroyed, but others argue the immense economic value they provide to Farengeto and Lower Katar to be too great to lose. Even in the many areas where redevelopment has taken place some are still dissatisfied, seeing the new buildings as "too Farengeto" and as merely replacing the works of one oppressor with another. Their second aim is the completion of statebuilding efforts, ending decades of mandate rule and replacing them with permanent nationstates. The messy demographics and colonial borders of these mandates have led to decades of stalled efforts. Facing issues ranging from history claims contradicting modern demographics, to the allocation of new worlds belonging to no single species, to the diaspora of liberated species, to granting territory for "imported" species, efforts to finalize a deal have encoutered many difficulties that have left the trillions impacted increasingly frustrated. Though their proposals to resolve these issues are often vague and contradicting, the party fights for a faster solution to this situation.

Alliance of Spode
The Alliance of Spode is political faction composed of various religious groups in Farengeto, particularly various denominations of Spodism. Its official platform focuses on repealing restrictions on the freedom of worship in Farengeto, particularly those imposed by the Sudal Accords. In practice, however, many of its leading members have ties to the Gargatorian, and push fanatical and even theocratic agendas. Its official agenda of religious freedoms have drawn support from a number of other religious minorities, such as the remaining Cleanserists. Its hard Spodist fanaticism means this support is often limited and fairly mixed. This stance is often accused of alienating many potential supporters, both Spodist and non-Spodist. In recent years it has lead to a deep generational divide within the party, between older fanatics and more secular younger members.

Singularity Party
The Singularity Party is a political movement associated with a variety of "futurist" beliefs. The Singularity Party finds its roots in the technological revolutions of the late 2790s and early 2800s, and the transsapience movement it spawned. The party emerged in the Quadrant colonies soon after their foundation, its colonists rapidly embracing the impact of new technologies discovered during their voyage through the Cyranai Cluster. Much of the party draws from a diverse range of movements and it often lacks a unified agenda on many subjects, and instead focuses on the promotion of various scientific and social changes. These span a variety of topics, such as promoting the adoption and acceptance of technologies such as genetic engineering and artificial intelligence. The party is also notable for its proposals to create a more technocratic form of government for the Federation. This includes plans to almost entirely replace many parts of the Farengeto government with artificial intelligence system. The Singularity movement are also advocates the for the expansion and increased adoption of TekNet and its implant systems. It remains uncertain how much the TekNet AI has influenced the party and its rapid growth, given the parties' heavily pro-AI agenda.

Trade Council[]

The Farengeto Trade Council is the second branch of the Farengeto Trade Coalition. Unlike the Farengeto Federation, the Trade Council exists solely as an international organization, and all members retain their full independence. The Trade Council was created in the early days of the Coalition, with the goal of rebuilding trade and commerce in Katar after the war and unrest of the 2780s and 2790s. The organization was built with a focus on economics, rather than the military focus of the declining Katar Sector Alliance.

The Farengeto Trade Council's primary aims are to facilitate and regulate trade, originally focusing on the Katar Sector but later expanding its aims to all of the Scutum-Crux Arm. Using its high profile members such as the Draconid Imperium and French Andromeda, the Trade Council was able to greatly expand its influence and reach in the decades after its creation. This influence culminated with the creation of the Gigaquadrantic International Trade Organization, which gave recognition to Farengeto's economic power and helped to further grow it.

With a vast political and cultural range between its members, the Council has avoided domestic economic regulations and instead focused on trade directly. Some of its attempted trade efforts have include reducing barriers to trade, reduction or elimination of various tarriffs, international quality standards for Scutum-Crux, and standardized units of measurement for trade between member states.

Astrography[]

The Farengeto Federation consists of numerous semi-autonomous states spanning tens of thousands of inhabited systems and three galaxies.

Farengeto Flag 3D

The Farengeto Republic is the political and economic center of the Farengeto Trade Coalition, home to its namesake capital and the homeworlds of several of the Coalition's najor species. Many of its major worlds have become bustling centers of intergalactic society and commerce.

The oldest known settlement is on the capital world of Farengeto, dating back over fifty million years. The world was believed to have been home to an interstellar aquatic civilization, however discoveries in the early 29th Century such as the Vault on Farengeto's moon have drawn this history into question.

Modern colonization began in the mid-27th Century following the Modian's invention of the warp drive and the beginning of the colonial rush.

  • Tek SpiralFarengeto: 23 billion - The capital of the Republic and the Coalition, Farengeto became a central economic hub for the region during the second half of the 28th Century. Once home to the ancient Farengeto civilization, only undersea ruins survive.
  • Tek CapitalUnatria: 7 billion - The homeworld of the Unatri. The world is often considered to be a cultural center of Farengeto, and is a common location for diplomatic events. As a result of multiple collapses of civilization much of the planet remains undeveloped compared to other worlds and much of its ruined industrial centers have long been reclaimed by nature.
  • Tek CapitalTolyardi: 11 billion - The homeworld of the Lagahti. While always a hot and arid planet, the planet experienced a period of extreme desertification which resulted in the extinction of its dominant sentient species. In the following millenia former race, the Lagahti, evolved to become the new dominant species. Much of the planets infrastructure is primarily underground, however efforts in recent centuries have begun reclaiming the surface of the planet.
  • Tek CapitalHeiank: 7 billion - The homeworld of the Garenti. Once a thriving planet, it still bears the scars of the bloody Garenti Unification Wars of the 27th Century and the Great Farengeto War a century later. Despite efforts to revitalize the planet, large areas still remain uninhabitable, including half a continent lost to radiation.
  • Tek CapitalModia: 8 billion - The homeworld of the Modians, in orbit around a gas giant. A colder world, the melting of its large polar ice caps due to global warming caused much of the planet's surface to be flooded by the 27th century. The planet possesses a large number of underwater settlements, many populated by a large population of a genetically-modified amphibious Modian subspecies. Climate restoration efforts have attempted to repair the planet, however the plans remain controversial among its billions of aquatic residents that would be displaced.
  • Planet symbolSchiah: 8 billion - After the secession of many Modian colonies in the Modian Civil War, Schiah became the capital of the new Modian Empire.

The Farengeto Lower Katarian Administration consists of former Dominatus territory granted to the Delcathian powers by the Katar Sector Alliance. After the upheaval of the following decades control of these regions was largely transferred solely to the Farengeto Trade Coalition. Using repurposed Dominatus factories the region has become the industrial heartland of the Coalition. Though much of the physical damage of the occupation has been repair, it still bears many of its political scars. The diaspora of trillions has hampered attempts to redivide the occupation zone into permanent territories and rebuild stable long-term states in their place. The unified Lower Katarian Administration has occasionally found itself in jurisdiction disputes, as the former occupying states still lay de jure claim to their former occupation zones.

Farengeto Ezlangei Flag

The Ezlangei joined the Coalition in the mid-2790s following the collapse of its government. Both Farengeto and the Draconis intervened, placing control of the Ezlangei mainland under the FTC and split its Lower Katarian occupation between them.

After successfully restoring order the new Ezlang Republic prospered as a member state of the fledgling FTC, and Ezlang has become one of the integral states of the Coalition. Despite some resistance to Farengeto rule membership has now been embraced by the majority of its population.

Farengeto Gargator Flag

The Transwarp War saw a devestating and humiliating defeat for the Gargator Empire. The devestation on their homeworld and the death of much of its political and religious leadership dead the Empire collapsed into unrest.

FTC attempts to build a secular state in their new protectorate were met by the emergence religious factions, each trying to reunite the nation under their beliefs. Religious violence swept the Gargator with a deadly as the FTC and its allies struggled to maintian order. The less violent "New" Gargatorian Spodism, backed by the FTC and other foreign interests, soon became the dominant faction as the FTC began to fully assert control over the Gargator, beginning the brutal crackdown of religious extremists. The Gargator Republic continues to face a wide political divide between the traditionalists who support the old ways and those who have embraced the new ways of tolerance and diversity.

The Mardor Mandates consist of the two KSA mandates established during the Dominatus War in the former Mardor Empire: the Mandatory Mardor Empire and the Former Mardor Territories. With the decline of their former occupiers the FTC took charge of the Mandates in the early 2800s. Despite often violent results in the early population exchange between the two, the situation in the states have stabilized. Efforts in the FMT have worked to repair the physical - and mental - damage of Mardor occupation. Diplomatic efforts are attempting to redraw the Mandate into long-term states however resettlement by the Mardor continues to cause tensions among the former slave races.

The Mardor remain resentful towards the Farengeto and other Katarians for the dismantlement of their empire, though no large scale revolts have yet taken place.

The Delcathian Colonial Sectors are the Farengeto territories of the Delcath subsector outside of the five major states. The region is home to a variety of worlds, from young races under the FTC's protection to new worlds bridging the metaphorical "gap" between the Delcathian states.

The region's most prominent feature is the Aeoneonatrix Anomaly Region, a massive spacetime anomaly centered on the former territory of the Aeoneonatrix. Created when "The Cleanser" transported away the Aeoneonatrix to an unknown destination the exact nature of the anomaly remains unknown. Decades later the region remains virtually unnavigatable, and even successful voyages have often found themselves transported through space and time.

The Concordat Sectors are a series of territories along the Scutum-Crux arm of the Milky Way, both inside and outside Katar. They draw their name from the Draconis' Concordat hyperlane which they border and use to remain connected. The size and purpose of these sectors varies wildly, ranging from small automated outposts to full civilizations that have joined the FTC. Most sectors possess some form of naval base, and are critical in enabling the FTC's power projection across the galactic arm.

The Farengeto Quadrant Colonies were founded in 2797 as part of Chancellor Rakavaz's initiative to explore other galaxies. Departing through the wormhole outside Katar the colonists would pass through the Cyrannus Galaxy before arriving in Quadrant 82.

The region is in theory directly controlled by the Farengeto Republic, however its distance gives it a degree of autonomy from both the Republic and the Coalition. With the establishment of the GITO wormhole network full contact was restored between the the Coalition and its colonies.

Isolated from the threats of the Great Xonexian Schism the colonies prospered. With rising tensions in the Cyrandia cluster in following years however the region became increasingly militarized as the Coalition desperately tried to prepare a defence against threats from the Cluster's major superpowers.

Farengeto Colony Flag3

The Farengeto Cyrannian Administration consists of the Farengeto colonies in the Cyrannian Galaxy and the Frontier Sector in the Milky Way Galaxy. The colonies were first established on the Milky Way side in 2797 to secure their end of the Katar-Cyrannus wormhole, and the administration was later extended to both sides of the wormhole at the permission of the Galactic Empire of Cyrannus.

The Administration is controlled from Frontier 1, a Nantes-class station jointly controlled by Farengeto and France that defends the wormhole from incursion on either end. With the increasing aggression of the Empire, the colonies have been converted into a massive fortress. On its own the sector is not built to withstand a full scale invasion by Cyrannian forces. Instead its defences emphasize an advanced defense in depth strategy, designed to delay enemy forces from reaching the wormhole until Farengeto's Xonexi allies can arrive to reinforce the colony. Should the fall of either end of the wormhole to an attacking force appear imminent, Farengeto plans outline an evacuation through the wormhole before collapsing it behind them.

Species[]

Modian
Main article: Modian
The Modians are the most populus and powerful of the Farengeto founder species. They were the first of the Farengeto to develop interstellar travel, and later sold this technology to the rest of the Farengeto species. Unlike the other Farengeto species the Modians were never truly united under a single entity prior to the formation of the Farengeto Republic, with most having belonged to the nation-states of the Modian Confederation or having seceded to join the Modian Empire. As a result the Modians maintain a diverse culture even into the 29th Century.

Garenti

The Garenti are a species resembling amphibious reptiles, native to the planet Heiank. The Garenti have a reputation as the most aggressive and militaristic of the major Farengeto species, a reputation largely a legacy of the now defunct Garenti Empire.

History
The early contact history of Garenti was a bloody period. Modian discovery of the species took place amidst a series of major global conflicts between the nation-states of Heiank. The arrival of the Modians would only lead to an intensification of the conflict, as various Modian factions and traders began to supply Garenti with technology and resources.

After 42 years of war the conflicts came to an end in 2663, when the rival nations of Salder and Opplersa engaged in a nuclear exchange which resulted in the destruction of both nations and the devastation of their continent. In the aftermath a global ceasefire was declared. The Treaty of Chenov brought an end to what would later be called the Garenti Unification Wars, and attempted to control Modian influence.

The Empire of Caston would emerge as the sole Garenti superpower in the aftermath of the conflict. In the following decades the Caston dominance over the remaining Garenti states dominions would continue to expand as its interstellar holdings grew. With effective control over the entire Garenti species, in 2738 the Caston Emperor would crown themself as "Emperor of the Garenti", creating what Modians would refer to as the Garenti Empire.

The Garenti Empire continued its expansion for decades. The Empire met its end in 2761 in the final days of the Great Farengeto War. Stretched to its limits the Emperor would be overthrown by revolutionaries led by Halkon Lagenta, secretly the Emperor's son.

The post-war era was a time of prosperity for the new Garenti Republic. The Caston militarization gave way and in the rebuilding brought great economic growth, diplomatic options once ignored were now accepted. Reconciling with its neighbours, decades later they would join with the other races of Farengeto to create the Farengeto Republic.

Biology
The Garenti are a bipedal species, with adults averaging around 160cm in height. They are an agile species, capable of moving with great speed both on land and in the water.

As a semi-aquatic species they possess great swimming ability. Using a combination of their webbed hands and feet, and their fins, they are able to exercise significant speed and maneuverability in water. Possessing a set of gills on their neck they are capable of breathing in water as well as in air, and can stay underwater almost indefinitely.

As predators with a primarily carnivorous diet, the Garenti have developed a reputation for their aggression. Though partially based on fact, the reputation would be greatly exaggerated under the brutality of the Garenti Empire. The "Garenti Warrior" stereotype would prove to be a lasting one however, with the species continuing to have disproportionate representation among military and security personnel in Farengeto.

Unatri
Main article: Unatri
The Unatri are the herbivorous snake-like inhabitants originating from the planet Unatria. The modern Unatri are not a single species, but rather several distinct subspecies created by millenia of interplanetary separation after the collapse of the ancient Unatri civilization. For the majority of its post-contact history the species has lacked a strong central identity. With the diversity of the overall population some have become resentful of the dominance of the "original" Unatrian Unatri.

Lagahti

The Lagahti are an insectoid species from Tolyardi. They were originally created as a slave race by native inhabitants of the planet. After the planet's ecological collapse they became dominant among its few surviving species.

History
The first Lagahti were genetically engineered several thousand years ago from a native species on the planet Tolyardi, for use as a labour force for their creators. They were created during an unstable time for the biosphere of Tolyardi, with natural changes in climate and plant life leaving much of the planet's surface threatened by growing deserts. Their creator's industrial age would only further the instability, and in time would spark a runaway collapse of large parts of the biosphere.

The Lagahti's creation came at a critical moment in their creator's history. The rapidly expanding deserts had already sparked drops in their society's food yields and population, with the Lagahti were created to supplement a shrinking workforce and repair losses to the changing climate in regions increasingly too harsh for their creators. The following decades would feature only a deteriorating situation, as increasingly large areas became uninhabitable from the spreading deserts. War, famine, and the displacement of millions became a symptom of their creator's growing social collapse, while the Lagahti were grown in ever greater numbers.

As the situation grew increasingly dire, tensions escalated between the two species. The unrest culminated in a widespread revolt by the Lagahti following an attempt by several groups to exterminate their Lagahti populations. The resulting conflict, heightened by continually worsening environmental conditions, produced a cataclysmic death toll on both species in a war for survival. After decades the Lagahti would finally achieve victory over their creators, their surviving population reduced to enclaves under Lagahti rule and defectors who had sided with their creations. The fate of these survivors is unknown, whether they died from natural causes or were fully exterminated.

By the end of the wars much of Tolyardi's habitable surface had been lost to desertification and the surviving biosphere was on the brink of total collapse. While some Lagahti settled in the remaining fertile regions, many others chose to remain in their underground colonies built during the war.

The millennia that followed were often a struggle for survival, as the remaining Lagahti fought to rebuild civilization and recover the lost knowledge of their creators. Lagahti civilization is often divided into those who cultivated the remaining fertile lands of the surface, and those who built their cities underground. Those on the surface built great empire that provided critical resources such as crops and fresh water to the much of the world. Those who lived underground built massive subterranean complexes, large and often self-contained networks of caverns and tunnels dug from beneath the surface.

By the time of Modian-Lagahti First Contact in 2641 the Lagahti had rebuilt a civilization that had spread across Tolyardi, though their efforts to undo the destruction to the planet's biosphere had had minimal effect. Modian traders proved to be a miracle for the Lagahti, with their technologies bringing the means to repair their dying world - and to escape it.

Biology
Their physiology and psychology is dominated by the signs of their slave origin. The Lagahti are derived from a pre-sapient species native to Tolyardi, which underwent significant mental and physical alterations at the hands of their now extinct "creators" several thousand years ago. The remaining members of their genetic "parents" would later die or be killed over the following centuries from a variety of factors.

Lagahti are engineered to for subservience and conformity. They will often feel compelled to follow the crowd or what they perceive as a leader, even if it goes against their own interests and self-preservation. This feeling is especially overriding in the case of any entity resembling their creator's species.

Lagahti were engineered for their physical abilities. These changes included a significant increase in size, mass, and adaptability compared to their natural counterparts. This engineering was very versatile and gave them strong ability in a variety physical tasks, from work requiring brute physical strength to precise, delicate work. However this engineering left them with weaker higher-level thinking abilities than most natural sapient species.

To improve their working abilities, Lagahti were engineered with extreme proficiency in working in small groups. In groups of less than a few dozen members they are almost unmatched in their organization and efficiency. These groups of Lagahti, known as "clusters", form the foundational unit of Lagahti society. An experienced cluster of Lagahti are highly capable even in more intellectual tasks, able to outperform an equivalent team of most other species. In smaller and extremely close-knit groups, these clusters can develop to the point where a form of collective intelligence emerges among its members. However in what is perhaps a means of preventing revolt, beyond a certain size this ability rapidly starts to break down.

Lagahti are a single gendered species. Though capable of asexual reproduction, over 99% of the population is born sterile and for those capable of reproduction the process is almost always fatal. Since their creator's time they have relied on external means of reproduction to propagate their species. This is believed to have been intentionally engineered, as another method for their creators to control the enslaved population and their numbers. As a result of this artificial reproduction Lagahti lack any sort of traditional family structure, most often being grouped by the "batch" of their birth.

Gargator Retcon
Main article: Gargator
The Gargator are a mammalian species native to the Katar Sector in the Milky Way galaxy. The species is infamous for its fanatical devotion to Spodism, often attempting acts of genocide against non-believer races.

Mardor Retcon

The Mardor are a species renown for their violence and sadism. They first appeared on the planet Malvire approximately 120,000 years ago, however they did not originate on the world and their origins remain unknown.

Biology
From their unusual biological to their suspected alien origin, it is generally believed the Mardor are a product of genetic engineering by an unknown species. The most common theory argues that they were created as a sort of biological weapon, however why they were created and how they ended up on Malvire remains a mystery.

The Mardor's most infamous traits are a series of neurological adaptations that make the species genetically predisposed to extreme sadism and cruelty. The most prominent of these caused a Mardor to experience great pleasure from the suffering of others. This programmed cruelty would grow to become a defining feature of Mardor society, with commentors describing the late Mardor Empire as "a factory for torture pornography". The industrialized level

of torture and genocide has instilled a deep hatred of the Mardor in many Katarian societies, with violence against Mardor by other species common on many worlds.

Briegari
The Briegari are a species native to Delcath. They originate from a non-spacefaring world that was attacked by the Gargator in 2796. The Farengeto Republic repelled the invasion and placed the planet under their protection.

Erish
The Erish are a species native to Delcath. They were conquered and enslaved by the Mardor centuries ago.

Dalettlis
The Dalettlis are a species native to Lower Katar. They were enslaved by the Dominatus prior to their liberation by the Katar Sector Alliance.

Kridends
The Dalettlis are a species native to Lower Katar. They were enslaved by the Dominatus prior to their liberation by the Katar Sector Alliance.

Omanzaita

Nichi
The Dalettlis are a species native to Lower Katar. They were enslaved by the Dominatus prior to their liberation by the Katar Sector Alliance.

Many other sentient races can be found across Farengeto space. Many of these species have greatly suffered in the past, being forcibly transplanted by the Dominatus, enslaved by the Mardor, or attacked by the Gargator.

Religion[]

While the Coalition is primarily atheistic, there are several major religious denominations.

Gargatorian Spodism[]

"Old"[]

Main article: Fiction:Gargator#Religion

Prior to the Farengeto annexation of the Gargator Empire, "Old" Gargatorian Spodism was the state religion and universally followed. Among its most famous traits was the annihilation of all non-believers. Following the defeat of the Empire and devastation of their homeworld in the Transwarp War, the Gargator experienced a crisis of faith leading to the rise of a new, reformed religion. Though it has greatly fallen in its support, it still maintains a strong following despite efforts by the Farengeto government to supress it.

"New"[]

After the destruction of the Gargator homeworld and the massacre of their forces during the War, many believers experienced a crisis of faith. While some converted to other faiths or lost their faith altogether, a group of new Gargator "prophets" began preaching a reformed version of Gargatorian Spodism. Their new religion dropped many of the old's more violent tenets, and was inspired heavily by foreign versions of Spodism such as that of The Divinarium. Though better tolerated by the Farengeto government the religion still often finds itself at odds with Farengeto officials.

Cleanserism[]

At its peak Cleanserism was one of the most prominent faiths in Delcath, with followers in nearly every Delcathian civilization. When the Aeoneonatrix Empire disappeared, so did the Cleanser and most of his followers. Only a small number of Cleanserists remain in Delcath. His remaining followers have found ever decreasing contact with the Cleanser, leaving many to feel abandoned by their god. To those that remain, the Aeoneonatrix Anomaly Region is treated as proof of their god's power.

Cleanser worship in Farengeto largely follows the practices used by the Aeoneonatrix, with several regional variations. Cleanserists have run into conflict over the terms of the Sudal Accords, particularly over their controversial rite of Dedication. Official Farengeto policy acknowledges the existence of the Cleanser, but denies any claims of its divinity.

Sudal Accords[]

The Sudal Accords are a series of controversial religious policies enacted in 2798. No longer restrained by the Aeoneonatrix following the Lightning War the Gargator began a crusade of unprecedented scale, causing tensions between the Gargator Empire and the nascent Farengeto Trade Coalition to rapidly escalate. In 2797 a Farengeto-led coalition met to establish a coalition against the Gargator and other religious extremists. The Sudal Accords would be ratified on the Gargator world of Sudal, dismantling the Gargator Empire and serving as a peace treaty to the Transwarp War. Among its controversial terms the Accords enact numerous and often harsh restrictions on the spread and practise of religions including a ban the presence of foreign missionaries, and an outlaw of "extreme" religious practices. The Accords maintain mixed support across the Farengeto Trade Coalition, its supporters considering it a "necessary step in preventing religious violence", though its opponents call it an "anti-religious attack on personal freedoms". Despite this the alliances that emerged from the Accords are widely agreed to have been key in the Coalition's rapid expansion across Delcath Subsector and in combating the religious extremism promoted by the former Gargator Empire.

Quotes[]

In a realm of a thousand mindsets, a thousand cultures and a million languages, stability is a fickle scale. The Trade Coalition at least understand that stability comes from balance and mediation, not some narrow-to-define ideology.
