"Essence", a buzzword for that semi-real, semi-magical fact of life in which all existence is built. Where did it come from, what is it, how does it work, how is it polarised? I plan to answer these questions within this paper, built with over two decades of research and dedicated study.
To the layman, Essence is a magical type of energy that appears to warp and twist reality at a whim. We know of types, which from what we can tell appears within a "spectrum" of life and death, the spectrum itself includes:
- Celestial
- Life
- Dream
- Elemental
- Entropic
- Demonic
- Death
- Chaos
So where do we begin studying it? Well, all these form of energy have an effect on reality. But to call it "energy" is questionable, as to some it suggests it's not entirely the same as kinetic, chemical or thermal energy that the science of even pre-spacefaring civilizations have come to understand. However, it is my belief that Essence is merely the broad term for several states of energy. Kinetic and thermal energy, for example ,are created from certain sources, the same is true of these energy types as they are seen to interact and "alter" typical energy types, there are even accounts that Essence energy can be used to enhance mundane objects; powering them, making them stronger or causing greater impacts. So how does this work exactly?
We all know that energy is not made up of particles, it is a way of describing transfers; "losing energy" refers to the diffusion between regions of high and low energy, electricity is merely energy as it is shunted down a line of charged particles such as electrons, so Essence, in theory, works on a similar principle, and not entirely exclusive physical state. One can "lose" energy, but one can also gain it, the idea that an Essence-charged body is constantly converting mundane energy into its own form can be used to explain where beings possessing these energies appear to run infinitely off it. Indeed, Essence beings do not require the consumption of other sources of essence to sustain themselves, but I digress.
I have come to believe that Chaos energy, one of the must powerful and primordial of the essences is in fact common throughout the universe, just in a form that it's nu-interactable. M-Theory (or quantum string theory) states that Planck-scale structures vibrate in order to give a universe its fundamental properties, the issue is, what are they vibrate within? E-Theory (as I shall call Essence Theory) suggests that quantum strings oscillate within a substrate of chaos energy, the amalgam of quantum strings and chaos energy are what make up the space-time fabric of a universe, what the chaos energy substrate consists of is an uncertainty, but it is said that this type of energy makes up the foundation of reality, so it can be safe to assume that quantum strongs vibrate within a field of chaos energy, the field somehow providing the strings with a way to move i nthe same way the presence of thermal energy allows subatomic particles to vibrate more intensely with higher heat concentrations.
Elemental energy has been coined as an "everyman's energy", something all living things can interact with through sub-cellular quantum processes, but to consider it completely separate from the kinds of energy such as kinetic,chemical and thermal would be shockingly inaccurate since elemental energy interacts and transforms in such a way that it is practically identical to these so-called mundane variations of energy. Under E-theory, elemental energy is the same kind of energy that powers muscle, is generated in metabolic processes and is the typical desired product of energy reactors. Through a sub-cellular process, lifeforms have learned to subconsciously harness its potential by utilising its interactions with 4th-dimensional hyperspace through internally generated signal photons.
The idea of signal photons bouncing back and forth between hyperspace and realspace is so far the best theory we have for extra-bodily manipulation such as telepathy and telekinesis because hyperspace is a compressed alternate universe; photons enter hyperspace and then hop out some distance away depending on how deep into hyperspace they reached before traveling out, theoretically more potent mentalists can transmit these photons deeper into hyperspace, extending their reach. To explain, because hyperspace is compressed, a 3D "shadow" of the lifeform is created when every cell is engaging in this hyperspacial process. Wen they re-enter they interact with other photons traveling back to the body, in essence, a person can "feel" the world around them; awareness of volume, peripheral senses etc. In theory this process is available to all users of essence, and they do it on a regular basis, with some being powerful enough mentally to entice photon transmittance across wide areas.
In theory, the stratification can be brought down to stimulus and the circumstances of how these energies were converted. They do not work like other energies, instead a form of conversion; when interacting with other bodies "corruption" as some call it is this very process. Like with getting hit with a wave of heat energy, these energies will eventually dissipate, however particles possessing these essences appear ot also work like unstable isotopes; when they impact normal matter, they can convert the latent chemical or thermal energy into more of itself, eventually creating regions where suh energy is continuously produced. The idea itself is based on how some, who were exposed to the likes of Descension and Entropic energy, remained contaminated with instances of these energies. Clearly, whatever exposed them ended up turning regions of tissue into "essence fonts" of sorts that convert incoming chemical or perhaps thermal energy into more essence identical to regular metabolic processes, which is then radiated out from the body.
As I mentioned with stratification, it appears that variations of essence have varying effects, both physical and interestingly neurological. It is possible that the presence of certain essences trigger the production of key neurotransmitters that cause emotions such as joy, sadness or anger in the same way that increased levels of thermal energy can indicate for an endothermic body to lower its metabolic rate, perhaps the nature of the specific energies is what drives this process? From what research attempts have discovered:
- Dream energy promotes the production of serotonin, what's more, all beings appear to produce minute amounts of dream energy that leaks into regions other than hyperspace
- Life energy accelerates metabolic processes, at the lowest levels this can revitalise and even increase cellular regeneration, at the most extreme however subjects can effectively be metabolised to death as the excess ATP chemicals become unstable (note tht ATP is intentionally designed to release large amounts of energy)
- Death energy appears to do the opposite; reducing and even killing metabolic processes as well as attacking intermolecular bonds, decohering organic and even mineral bodies.
- Entropic energy appears to be a serotonin inhibitor. n fact it appears to inhibit many neurotransmitters, leading to emotion control, depression sadness and so on. Entropic energy also appears highly ionising; causing mutagenic effects in thos exposed to it that somehow seem to correlate to negative emotions.
- Demonic energy also appears to interfere with serotonin as well as interfering with endorphins, prompting those exposed into fits of anger, frustration and even feelings of pain. Demonic also appears one of the more unstable as demonic energy in bodies can develop excessive amounts of heat. ALso like with Entropic, it appears demonic energy has a mutagenic effect on victims.
it has also been noted that beings possessing large amounts of essence can perform extraordinary feats alongside telepathy including enhanced strength and endurance. It is possible that large amounts of essence lift biological inhibitors, and enhanced regeneration factors mean that subjects' bodies can exert forces beyond what is normally possible by enhancing the chemical bonds between the compounds within organic tissue, meaning that higher forces can be exerted before the tissue begins to strain or tear. Theoretically, this can also apply to impacts, potentially explaining the high durability such entities have.
The processes of essence is still not entirely understood and will take many more years to decode, hopefully, this does shed some light on how the mysterious form of energy known as "Essence" for future generations to solve.
