Origins
Society
Society
The Chalatec are a deeply religious and spiritual people found throughout the various regions of the Everlands. They are a confederacy of multiple seminomadic tribes ruled by their priests and shamans. The seat of power among the Chalatec comes from the city of Chalan, a commercial and pilgrimage center for the Chalatec as a people. Chalan does not hold its dominance over the other tribes via military force but rather through shared religious, cultural, and political values.
Religion
The Chalatec have a numerosity of gods all with their own roles and domains in the natural and civilized world. The patron god of Chalan though is Saurathrax, the feathered serpent god of wind and wisdom who is said to have created the Vanara and taught the methods of growing corn and chocolate to the Chalatec. Other important gods are Solathane the Sun Goddess, Stratopteryx the god of war and sacrifice, Obcidelot the god of the night and chaos, and Dermiflay the god of agriculture and diseases.
Magic
The priests and shamans of the union specialize in drawing power from the elemental winds of Light, Lightning, Air, Blood, Glass, Fire, and Sand. They channel this magic into bending the environs around them to their will and summoning the Saurian beasts of another plane of existence into this world. Vanara Chosen are universally able to form psychic links and bonds with these beasts becoming life long partners and allies that fight and live together, side by side.

Territory
The Union makes its home in the main islands of the everlands to the west in lands of the rain-drenched plains. Most of the tribes are pastoral nomads wandering to a fro in a seasonal cycle with the only permanent settlement being the city-state of Refuge, which sits at the center of the tribal territories.
