“Segmentum Umbra is a strange, mysterious starcluster. It was never fully colonized or explored by Vartekians, and they have only left small research stations and bases there. In segmentum Umbra, large amounts of black holes, supernovae and spacetime anomalies are present, something which can't be explained by natural means. It is believed that the whole segmentum is located within some kind of "Essence field", which may explain strange events which always happened there”

Umbra is a starcluster, technically a part of the Andromeda Galaxy. Connected to the galaxy core with Crepusculum and forms an outer ring with the neighboring Ignotum and Exterioris, and Adnihilo on the opposite side.
Umbra's history has got a notorious reputation of precursors and holds a large reminder about the anicent Tertamian Alliance. In which where New Tertamian Alliance now stands. Modern artifacts, in form of abandoned colonies can be found on planets and research stations drifting helplessly drifting in the space, bears a reminder of the Draconis and Vartekian expansion era.
Naakjian Confederation, New Tertamian Alliance and Interstellar Tundraklen Commonwealth hail Umbra as their own home of origin. Other foreign powers have got foothold here. such as the Legion of Badmanz, a Loron derivative that serves Legion of the Deathmarch. Also the native empire Republic of Cirith Beleg holds influence and home territory by the extragalatic Libertus here.
