The Allied Domains of Men is an alliance of various planets formed to protect themselves from foreign powers in the wake of the fall of the Holy Imperium. Many of the initial planets to join the ADOM were former members of The Imperium, who resented the heavy religious element that many felt had let them down. This led the ADOM disavowing affiliation with any form of religion.
