Economic civilizations are one of the three possible civilization types in Civilization Stage. You start with an economic city upon exiting Tribal Stage as Industrious.
Enemy economic cities only spawn as small cities and are usually taken over fairly quickly by more powerful civilizations. Despite clearly forming trade routes with other small cities, enemy economic cities will never buy other cities.
Dialogue[]
Neutral contact[]
"What is your purpose?"
Allied contact[]
"Great alliances such as ours will stand the test of ages! Speak your mind, neighbor."
"Greetings! Actions speak louder than words in the market, and you seem like a pleasant enough neighbor at present. What do you need?"
War contact[]
"Your existence threatens the very existence of this planet. What could you possible[หขแถฆแถ] want from us?"
"Rarely have we seen a threat such as yours. Are you a force for good or evil?"
Trade[]
Accepting
"Trade can only grow both our coffers. Your offer is accepted."
Declining
"Our coffers overflow. We do not need to trade with you at this time. I'm sorry."
Trade request[]
"For our cities to grow, our economies must grow. We would like to establish a trade route with <city name>. We will send vehicles filled with our finest cargo, and will pay a tax to your city for each trip."
Upon choosing: I reject your offer! You can keep your tawdry goods.
"We question your logic, but we are happy to take our business elsewhere."
Upon choosing: I accept your offer! Start shipments immediately!
"Excellent. Both of our cities will prosper from this deal."

"Economic civilizations use cash and trade routes to influence other nations. They'll form alliances, but it's usually a better deal for them."
Economic Consequence Abilities[]

Spice Savant: "This ability increases spice production from all your colonies."
Gaining The Economic Trait
The economic trait is gained by purchasing cities through the Trade of Spice. It is possible, but difficult to gain the trait if you didn't start out as an Economic nation; as these nations appear less frequently during Civilization Stage, and other nations often destroy these nations shortly after they start out. This is the most peaceful way of capturing cities, but it can be expensive. It also poses the least threat to your nation should trade fail.
Raiding tribe villages can be helpful if you didn't start as Economic, since a single Economic vehicle can capture a city on it's own (though it'll be very slow - make sure the city you're trading with isn't at risk of being captured by another nation or you will have to start over again). This will count as an economic capture and you will be able to convert the city to Economic, even if neither you nor the city itself was originally Economic. Just be careful the vehicle isn't destroyed by a hostile nation or an Epic.
