Lagombi, also known as White Rabbit Beasts, were a large marsupial species native to Earth's Old World, which is currently extinct. They originated in the famous japanese RPG videogame series Monster Hunter, having been introduced in the third Japan-exclusive game: Monster Hunter Portable 3d.

Physical description[]
Lagombi were tremendously large creatures, although smaller than many other creatures. The largest known individual measured around 15.82 meters in height when standing upright, while the smallest one measured 2,14 meters. Their weight has never been measured.
Lagombi superficially resembled large rabbits, but posessed a marsupial pouch on their back. Their body had a bulky appearance, mainly due to the white fur that covered the most of it. It's underbelly was covered by scale-like structures made of low-friction material, which were blue-covered. Both arms and legs were fat and ended in mammalian hands with clawed digits. They had a large, round tail similar to that of a rabbit. Their head had two large ears, resembling those of a rabbit, a large koala-like nose, two fur sideburns, and a mouth with sharp teeth.
There was no known sexual dimorphism between Lagombi. Young Lagombi have been barely sighted, but they're said to have had denser fur and a smaller nose.
Traits and abilities[]
Lagombi had an impressive muscular strenght, allowing them to jump to tremendous heights and lift heavy snow chunks from the ground. They were rather tenacious, mainly due to their thick fur. However, they weren't very agile, and rather slow except when sliding on their belly or jumping.
The claws of a Lagombi had evolved to extract snow and ice chunks from the ground and throw them at both predators and prey, but were also capable of piercing through flesh, causing deadly wounds that may even freeze in the cold enviroments the creature inhabits. The Lagombi's belly allowed it to easily slide over ice at fast speeds, similarily to penguins. They could hear predators and prey from a very long distance thanks to their long ears. Their thick fur protected them from the extreme cold of their enviroment.
Habitat[]
Lagombi have adapted to very cold enviroments, being uncapable of surviving in warmer climates. They used to inhabit areas such as the Tundra and the Frozen Seaway, regions of the Eastern Islands' so-called Old World.
Behavior[]
Lagombi were rather peaceful creatures, compared to other large animals in the Eastern Islands. Usually, they would only attack other creatures when harmed or disturbed. They would usually use their sharp claws and powerful jumps to quickly attack smaller creatures, with fast claw swipes and heavy snow chunks being thrown at them. They were sedentary creatures that usually lived alone, patrolling a set territory in search of their favorite food: plants, mushrooms and large insects. Only when this food was scarce, they would hunt larger animals they come across. When obtaining food, Lagombi wouldn't always eat it, but sometimes bury it under the snow for later instead.
Lagombi didn't have a set mating season, and would breed at any time of the year. It is unknown how did the mating process exactly work, but it is know that after it happening, the couple would separate. After being born, cubs would be carried by their mother on their pouch until their first year of life, when they would independentize.

Taxonomy[]
Larinoth have been taxonomically classified as marsupials belonging to the Vombatidae family. As the only wiki creatures in the taxon, they currently have no close relatives.
Lagombi haven't been fully classified in Dinoman972's personal system yet. They are recognized as mammals, probably marsupials, but their extinction caused the information left on them to be scarce, thus making them hard to classify properly.
The Lagombi's binominal name is Chionilagus koalamyti. The genus name means snow hare in greek, and the epithet means koala nose in the same language.

Behind the Scenes[]
- The Lagombi was made to preserve the order Diprotodontia, after all members of Macropodidae (deleted taxon) were reclassified.
- Dinoman972 attempted to create another version of Lagombi, which would be holding a snow chunk in the air. It was abandoned due to coloration problems, as he had to either let the snow ball be black or let details such as the nose be white.
