The Drikotrans (DRI-KAW-TRINS) (Drizix: Xixizur) are a race of diminutive, yet essence attuned, insectoid sentients. Originating on the arid world of Drizix in Mirus, the Drikotrans have since spread out through the usage of robotic constructs and highly advanced AIs to complement their style. Drikotrans are typically stereotyped as enlightened shamans to those that know and understand them, and as insignificant nuisances to those that do not. Nevertheless, the Drikotrans are not inherently hostile. Indeed, many do not enjoy fighting and a few outright refuse to fight, preferring to help instead of harm. Likewise, their racial government, the Drikotran Sequence are a rather peaceful and righteous nation, although are constantly plagued by stereotypes ogf "artificial life" - resulting from the enormous usage of various robots to fill the jobs of what the Drikotran cannot do.
History[]
Originally a race of pseudoscorpions belonging to some of the equatorial savannas on Drizix, evolution began to take a rather unique course for the Drikotrans. They were a small and rather weak species, characteristic of pseudo-scorpions due to their lack of stingers and a rather easily fended off claw weapons. Whereas normally a species would become bigger and tougher with natural selection, mutations with every individual eventually led to certain individuals becoming slightly elementally attuned to the environment. These individuals suddenly became very dominant over the area, and natural selection killed off the rest while leaving the Essence-sensitive individuals alive. Evolution turned the primordial Drikotrans into slightly larger, intelligent, bipedal insects, whose control of Elemental energy was disproportionately strong to their bodies.
The Drikotrans would eventually ascend to the stars and create advanced essence-animated robots to suit their needs, forming the Drikotran Sequence.
Biology and Abilities[]
Drikotrans are short humanoid arachnids standing from 2 to 6 inches tall, and with a weight of about 25 grams. Drikotrans have a set of long (relative to their body) and powerful wings, which can flutter rapidly to allow flight. A Drikotran's exoskeleton is naturally extraordinarily tough in proportion to their size (being composed of chitin), and it takes quite a bit of effort to smash in a Drikotran's exoskeleton. They come in a variety of colors, with red, tan, and brown being the most common colors, although certainly not the only ones - purple, green, pink, and even blue have been observed in some individuals.
Society[]
Drikotrans not aligned to the Sequence (which are plenty) can be found on their home planet, or other planets, in monasteries and temples. Those found in these societies typically are in constant meditation, delving deeper into the secrets of Essence with the ultimate goal of transcendence. They are, like most of their kind, peaceful and friendly, and empathic as well - capable of telepathically communicating with others and feeling what they feel. Drikotrans aligned to the Sequence are not as spiritual as their kin. While friendly like the rest of their kind, they are far more interested in using their powers to protect instead of strictly help, using their powers to further the Sequence and protect their species from others.
