We must wade through the blood of our enemies to achieve salvation.

- A Cogsangui saying.

The Cogsangui are a saurian race that served as the military and religious leaders of the Cognatus and later, the Cognatus Remnant.

They are known to be deeply committed to the Gods of the Cognatus and have never delved from this worship. The Cogsangui are very intelligent and their adeptness in combat has lead to the extinction (or indoctrination) of thousands of species.

History

Early History

The Cogsangui evolved on the planet of Cognalorilos in the Unknown Regions of the Cyrannus Galaxy, a world filled with the remains of artefacts from the Thirteenth Tribe. The early Cogsangui used these artefacts to quickly advance into space, becoming a major superpower in their region of Cyrannus. When they began to explore the Unknown Regions, they quickly found other sentient species, such as the Defiler and the Scavengers. The three races quickly formed an Alliance between them, united in their belief in the Gods. However, it was no secret that the Cogsangui were the main leaders behind the Cognatus, and the other three races were often belittled.

A Cognatus fleet, under the command of the Cogsangui quell the Nequam.

However, the Cognatus eventually met another species, the Nequam who the Cogsangui took an immediate disliking to. However, they noticed that the Nequam could make a good physological enemy noticing their rage and lust for flesh. The Nequam, naturally resisted the Cognatus invasion of their space, but were eventually quelled by the Cogsangui themselves. The Nequam quickly became one of the races in the Cognatus, but a rift continues to seperate the two species.

Battle of the Quadrantia Wormhole

The Cognatus invade the Quadrants.

In the immediate months prior to the beginning of the Intergalactic War, the Cognatus Alliance began exploring deeper into the Unknown Regions of Cyrannus, searching for long lost Atlantica and Thirteenth Tribe artifacts and constructs. Eventually, they came across a world sacred to both the Cognatus and Rambo Nation, who would also eventually discover it. When they did, the Cognatus were furious and began a genicidal campain against the United Republic of Cyrannus and Rambo Nation.

This war would last for years, and all sides would face extreme casualities, though the Cognatus continued their genocides regardless. Eventually, the Cognatus brought the Cyrannian Republic to it's knees, attacking their homeworlds of the Twelve Colonies. As the battle raged on, the Cognatus became aware of a sacred portal of the gods. When they finished uncovering it, they entered the portal, into what they believed was the Realm of the Gods. However, the Thirteenth Tribe redirected the portal to exit in Catharsis space, where the vast majority of the Cognatus military were consumed by the Purity Virus.

Remnant and the Dark Times

A Cogsangui battles a Basileus during the Great Cyrannus War.

However, some survived this fate and lived on in the form of the Cognatus Remnant, who became allies and later members of the Cyrandia Alliance, helping their former enemies against threats like the Confederacy of Allied Systems and the Cyrannian Grox Empire.

However, many Cogsangui still distrust the Cyrandia, especially in the aftermath of the Great Cyrannus War, when the Emperor of the newly formed Galactic Empire of Cyrannus declared the Cognatus enemies of the state and traitors. This angered the Cogsangui, many of which are beginning to plot against Voro'Acetee.

Society and Culture

The Cogsangui see themselves as the greatest lifeforms in the galaxy and generally look upon other races as being inferior in terms of intellect and strength. They have a military centric culture and place great credance in their religion, worshipping the ancient structures left behind by their gods, the Thirteenth Tribe.

The concepts of family and ancestors is also very impotrant to the Cogsangui, who often organize themselves into clans. The betrayal of a member of a clan is punishable by death and is considered the deepest shame imaginable. The Cogsangui are amonst the greatest warriors of Cyrannus and dying while in battle is often seen as the most desirable death.

Individuals

Voro'Acetee

Voro'Acetee is the fair and wise leader of the Cognatus Remnant. He has great respect for his allies and would do anything to honour their allegiance. He has no fear in battle, nor in the face of adversity.

Voro'Acetee defining characteristic is his honour and respect for his allies. He is an intelligent, quick and ingenious tactician as well as being an unparalleled swordsman and duellist. He has a deep care for all his people and warriors under him, and has even developed a close friendship with President Apollo of the URC, a friendship that would have been unheard of ten years ago.

Thel' Vicliquam

Thel'Vicliquam is the Captain of the Cognatus Assault Carrier the "Shadow of Liberty". Not much is known of his early history and he was first revealed and sighted during the early stages of the Intergalactic War. He seems to be over 228 years old.

He carries a double bladed electric sword and a small pistol, his purple armor indicates his long time service and he wears a small cape. His helmet he made himself. He also seems to be a past friend of The Warrior of the Hieroarchs. His second in command is Rtas'Shagili. Now, he faithfully serves Voro'Acetee.

Biology and Appearence

The Cogsangui are a race of reptilian warm blooded saurians that tower above many Cyrannian lifeforms. They are extremely strong and can probably fight with a taller Mortalitas on equal terms. It is said that the Cogsangui are perhaps the most elite warriors in Cyrannus, which is due to the fact that they are raised from birth to be warriors.

A defining characteristic of of the Cogsangui is their peculiar mandibles which they often used to catch and dismember prey in prehistoric times.

Quotes

An honourable race, who always act within the reasons of their Gods. I once thought we could put the differences of our past behind us, but it appears like many wish to see a return to their old ways.

Uuurgh, those creatures are so disgusting.
