We are the last of the Ash'iyyar,

The Cletts have stolen our fields.

We use to ride our great turakhs,

But the Cletts wanted us to kneel.

Who are you, those who walk but not ride,

To tell us what we should believe.

But the clansman were strong, their claymores were long,

They said if we won't bow we will leave.

They chased us with hounds with sharp noses,

They hunted us with swords of strong steel.

For the clansmen who walk will never rule all,

While true men still ride through the fields.

We are the last of the great plains riders,

Who once called miles and miles their home.

Now we ride through the stars on great spaceships,

To serve a god not our own.

In the hopes he will grant us our homeland,

When at last the crows eat the flesh from Clett bones.

But no matter the cause, we have already lost all,

The moment we were forced from our homes.

This is the song from the last Ash'iyyar,

When we are gone its meaning will fade.

Our story will be gone, the details all wrong,

And this song will never be sung, by fire of night or light of the day.

We are the last of the Ascetics,

The name by which we are now known.

So learn well the words of our song,

Before all that is left of us is our bones.

- "The Last of the Ash'iyyar", a song sung by members of the tribe.

The Ash'iyyar are a tribe of Ugandalorians that once rode across the great plains of Ugandalore on mammal-like reptiles called Turakhs (sacred wind in the Ash'iyyar dialect). They differed in both appearance and culture from mainstream Mendel, and during the clan unifications, they refused Clan Nitrocon's demands to join them. They would have had to given up much of their culture and customs, and they refused to do so. Due to this, the united clans slaughtered them and chased the survivors into hiding, where they remained for hundreds of years until all the space-age rebellions gave them a conduit to escape and attempt to reclaim what is theirs. Most recently, they have ended up with the Tul'kaarin, but The Mendel Schism may hold change in store for all of them.

History[]

The Ash'iyyar came into being from a group of nomad Ugandals who settled in Ugandalore's great plains area. They domesticated creatures they called Turakhs, using them as mounts. Over time, these Mendel developed a wholly different culture to the rest of the world, one focusing more on sacrificing victims, claiming trophies, and preserving purity than the honor system the rest of the Mendel had. They also looked slightly different, having more of an overbitten jaw than other Mendel, as a result of exposure to extreme conditions and strange breeding habits. They are a rugged people, almost more muscular and strong then their cousins, thanks to their hard lifestyles.

The Ash'iyyar would become infamous among their kin as raiders and pillagers, who would ride Turakhs into undefended villages and towns, and carry away whatever they pleased if no one could stop him. The Nomadic Communities of the Siuilor, a group of traveling groups without established homes, were especially common victims of their raids, and gained a hatred for the Ash'iyyar, as did most of the more established Clans. When Clan Nitrocon began to unite and bring the Clans together, he sent diplomats to all of the Clans he could to gain their loyalty and respect.

The Siuilor, Southern and some Northern Clans, joined, but many resisted. The Ash'iyyar did not just refuse, however, they slaughtered the Nitrocon diplomats. Clan Nitrocon sent many warriors to defeat the Ash'iyyar, but these were defeated. Finally, Clan Nitrocon's leader meet with the leaders of the Siuilor, and gave them several armies to command. The Siuilor knew the Ash'iyyar knew better then any other how to counter the Ash'iyyar, and were given an army of Siuilor and Established Mendel mixed together. The Established Mendel hated being commanded by Siuilor, but accepted, and fought alongside the Siuilor.

After many odd marches and movements, the Siuilor leaders found the base camps of the Ash'iyyar, and slaughtered the sleeping and drunk Ash'iyyar. Though many escaped, much of the Ash'iyyar were slaughtered and forced to flee from the onslaught. So amazed by the victory, the Established Clans and Nitrocon worked to bring the Siuilor into their ranks far better and establish laws to protect their peoples and Clans.

Later history[]

Though the Siuilor integrated and became a part of the main Clans, the Ash'iyyar remained separate and to themselves. They refused to even entertain the idea of letting their children breed or marry the Settled Clans, many times trying to revolt and stage revolution against the other Clans. After countless small scale revolts and skirmishes, the Ash'iyyar heard from certain Clans and members, of a group within the Mendel that called themselves Tul'kaarin, a splinter faction who worshipped Xizothano Ada, the Volver Void God. Promising them freedom and
