They studied every trait of the visitor, now that they could. He (for I have confirmation he was male) had yellow skin, his muscles were well-developed and his body was quite bulky. His face had wide pupils, almost like those of a cartoon character, and a long snout with pointy fangs that pointed upwards. If one of you readers happens to be an inhabitant from the planet known as Earth, I might simply describe the creature as the typical man-boar hybrid, so you understand better its appearance.

Biology[]

Description[]

The Androg are rather large sapients, measuring from 1.8 to 2.1 meters in height. They usually weight between 25 and 50 kilograms.

Androg are very humanoid in appearance, with an upright posture, well defined muscles with a similar position to those of humans, and ape-like hands and feet. Their head, however, has a rather long and wide snout with tusks, resembling that of a warthog, with front-facing cartoonish eyes. They have yellow skin.

Sexual dimorphism isn't evident in Androg, but it exists. The female's abs support mammary glands, and her body is somewhat bulkier than that of males. Juvenile Androg don't have protuding muscles or mammary glands as their parents, developing them after they reach sexual maturity around the age of 15.

Traits and abilities[]

Despite their apparent muscularity, most Androg aren't much stronger than an average human, and they aren't very fast or agile either. Their skin, however, is quite tough and provides remarkable protection.

The Androg don't seem to have many special skills. Their tusks are intimidating, but aren't very useful as weapons. Their most remarkable trait with an use is their five-digited hands with thumbs, which allow them to create and manipulate objects, tools and weapons better than thumbless species, such as the Llurebleg.

Ecology[]

The ancestors of the Androg probably occupied a niche in the food chain of Rachantes similar to that of Earth's first hominids, being above many herbivores and some lesser carnivores, but being outclassed by larger herbivores and predators. The shape of their tooth suggest that, like Earth's warthogs, they were omnivorous creatures leaning towards herbivorous, feeding mainly on grass, fruit and roots, while also consumpting insects, eggs or even predating on other animals if necessary.

Now as a civilization, the Androg occupy the role of apex "predator" in the ecosystem. They aren't known to have caused any major enviromental damage in their planets, besides the mere facts of building their cities and moderately exploiting the enviroment around them. It is unknown if they have lost all their predators or if there are still creatures capable of causing damage to their cities, as the Llurebleg haven't explored Rachantes yet.

Taxonomy[]

The Androg have been taxonomically classified as ungulates of the Suidae family. Appearance-wise, their closest relatives seem to be either the Tritusk or the Pi`Yin.

Their binominal name is Antropochoerus kitrinos, with the genus name meaning man boar in greek, and the epithet meaning yellow in the same language.

Religion and folklore[]

The Androg isn't currently a highly spiritualist species, with scientific research being generally imposed over practicing religion. Religion is still present in the society, however, and is the protagonist of a large part of their history, being the cause of the Hudgenian Civil War. There are two different religions in Androg culture:

  • The Bagranism or Hudgenism, which follows a book known as the Vedne Hudgene. Those who practice this religion worship a sole deity: the being known as Kanca-Bagra. It was the Androg's only religion, until the discovery of the Crivum Titane.
  • The Titaneism, which follows the Crivum Titane. This doctrin recognizes the existence of around 40 god-like entities, known as the Titanes, but unlike the Vedne Hudgene, doesn't enforce worship towards them. This religion was actually ported from Sporotamus culture, being this the main reason for the Hudgenists to attempt its erradication.

Clothing[]

Until after the Great Rachantes War, dressing wasn't an obligatory part of society, but was still present. Now, the dress code highly encourages to cover at least the hip and, in the case of female individuals, the mammary glands with clothes. Androg clothesin both males and females usually resemble dresses, with long skirts, visible sleeves and large back necklines. Androg also like to wear small cap-like clothing on their head. Male clothing is usually a bit more revealing than female clothing. The prefered colours are red and purple.

Neutral[]

  • The Llurebleg: Although pilot Corono had a rather friendly reaction towards the discovery of sapient Llurebleg, no formal alliance has been established. The lack of trust by some Llurebleg is a reason for this.

Notable individuals[]

  • Corono: an Androg spaceship pilot, as well as the first one to meet the Llurebleg.

Trivia[]

Behind the Scenes[]

  • The original Androg were one of Dinoman972's first sapients.
  • The original Androg had more realistic eyes at the sides of the head, no neck, longer arms, a longer snout, and overdefined muscles. All of this was changed to give them more realism, while making them look slightly cartoonish at the same time.

Other Trivia[]

  • Dinoman972 originally had doubts about classifying Androg as Suidae, as they didn't have hooves. Their great resemblance to pigs and the presence of Pi`Yin in the taxon finally convinced him to do it.
