Conqrix Troop is a Maxis-made captain present in Spore Galactic Adventures. It is a bipedal carnivore.
It possesses the CrocKisser mouth, Saurian eyes, Prongripper graspers, and Slasherknight feet. It is cloth with Smarnocker hats, Refractor Wing shoulders, Prongalong and Eyebot details, and Plasma Pulser, Compact Generator, Compact Battery, Power Generator, Power Battery, and Stam-Booster captain parts.
On October 20, 2009, Maxis released a "sequel" to the Infestation adventure, except that the player is now playing on the side of the Conqrix as a Dronox Troop.
Galactic Adventures[]
Conqrix is used in the Infestation adventure, where it is known as a Dronox. They are associated with the Grox. They come in at least two different forms: a weak soldier form and a powerful commander form. They are stated to be "The Grox's new weapon of mass destruction". The purpose of the Dronox is to take out any form of threat to the Grox Infection Pod. They will swarm their enemies with their large numbers, and eliminate all of them.
The normal Dronox is naturally armed with different spikes that pretend to be poison blades and Plasma Pulsers; the stronger Dronox Commander is armed with Lightning Strikers and Missile Flingers. In missions they are guarding the Dronox Hive, while troops of Dronox attack the planet.
The Dronox Commander is stronger, although they are usually behind normal Dronox Troops to lead them and as support in combat. However, when alone, they are tough enough to take the player out when distracted. An unusual performance of the commanders is for them to lead troops at the front; this is very dangerous to the player, since they can get distracted, allowing the other Conqrix to fire at will and cause a great deal of damage.
Trivia[]
- The word "Dronox" is a reference to "Drones" of the Borg in the Star Trek series. The Borg Drones are the ones who normally assimilate other lifeforms into the Collective, so their knowledge, technology and biology can be used.
- Dronox are not creatures but clones, and they are spawned from the clone devices that the player normally see crashed in houses or aside of the Dronox Hive.
- Maxis made a contradiction about the Dronox once, saying in a trailer "Attack Androids!" while referring to the Dronox, even though in-game they are said to be clones.
