Catalysts are an item in Darkspore that take shape of glowing orbs and can be collected from Obelisks or dead enemies. When collected, the catalysts are placed in a 3x3 grid. Rearranging three of the same colour in a row will make the player stronger and grant them aditional stats. The player is capable of dropping catalysts and replacing them with new ones, this can be used to trade with other players.
Each catalyst is color-coded to identify which Genesis they aid:
- Green catalysts for Bio heroes.
- Red catalysts for Plasma heroes.
- Blue catalysts for Quantum heroes.
- Purple catalysts for Necro heroes.
- Yellow catalysts for Cyber heroes.
