Revision as of 17:07, 5 July 2021

I care for one thing, and one thing only; war. I will bring about eternal war to the universe, and all those who prove themselves unworthy will be devoured by the Nightmare. It is only fair.

- Murangon Nal

Murangon Nal (born Genrai Nal) is an Inalton Corruptus Demon who served as one of the Vanguards of Shu'wokerama, one of the gods of the Corruptus. Before his descension, he was the right-hand man of Falrik Zaarkhun in the Zaarkhun Consortium, but he eventually fell to the corruption of the Nightmare after Zaarkhun's original death.

Among the most skilled duelists of the First Gigaquadrant, Murangon Nal fights in the name of his master with a twisted sense of honor, seeking only to find worthy combatants who may grant him a good fight, while damning those who fail to meet his expectations to being consumed by the black tendrils of the Corruptus.

History

Ancient history

Genrai Nal, as he was originally known, was born millenia in the past. His father had given up most of his soul and free will to have his DNA edited to be a Kalyik, a breed of those who had betrayed the Blyro'Tralzica to join the Blyro'Tralzorca. Genrai Nal was made far more powerful, given an immunity to aging, ability to heal incredibly quickly, and mastery over Dark Chronoscopic Energy, but even less free will than his father.

Genrai was made into one of the Dark Templars, the warriors of Time's shadow, due to his skills. He was a Dark Templar Assassin, though he served as more of a serial killer. As he fought more, he began questioning the Tralzorca's ideals and the stubbornness of its religion. Eventually, he decided to betray them and kill most of the Dark Templars, killing each of them one by one, until only a few were left. The cult branded him a "Nal" - meaning "unforgivable" - for treachery, and sent Dark Templar Assassins after him. Genrai Nal, however, escaped through the spacetime continuum by using his powers until he found the Zaarkhun Consortium and became the lifetime companion of Falrik Zaarkhun. It was later revealed that this was no accident, as Zargoth had actually allowed this to happen.

In the Second Ottzello Galactic War, Third Ottzello Galactic War and Distant Relatives campaign, Genrai served as Zaarkhun's right hand man, and saved him from death on all occasions, with the exception of the Distant Relatives.

Joining the Corruptus

Following Falrik Zaarkhun's death in the Distant Relatives campaign, Genrai Nal was left to his own devices, spending his time looking for a new purpose in life. This coincided with the reawakening of the Corruptus, and in the event known as the Recruitment, Genrai Nal was sought out by the fiends of the Nightmare, who were attracted by his skills as a duelist and his power over Dark Chronoscopic Essence. Following a quick skirmish with Shu'wokerama's minions, the Nightmare God themself attacked and thoroughly defeated Genrai Nal, leaving him at the brink of death; defeated, he pledged his soul to the demon lord in exchange for the ability to wage eternal war with the universe.

Falrik Zaarkhun eventually resurfaced in the Borealis Galaxy, and Genrai Nal was quick to rejoin him; as he was not under orders from his master to do otherwise, he simply remained at Falrik's side as he rose to power in that galaxy, and Shu'wokerama was content to ignore him. However, as the Second Borealis Galactic War begun and the Borealis Consortium Network begun clashing with the Devourer's Chosen, Genrai Nal realized he would be be taken away from the Network eventually, and solved the problem by starting an underground development of a clone genuine enough to serve as a companion for Zaarkhun and take his place. This eventually turned out to be the correct decision, after an enraged Shu'wokerama materialized before Genrai and took him away, corrupting him further into obedience as they did so; the clone would awaken and take his place as planned, who now inherited the original name of Genrai Nal while the original individual would become known as Murangon Nal, the Killer.

Now under the directive of Geltastra in the Devourer's Chosen, Murangon Nal became one of the Corruptus' greatest champions in the war. However, he still cared enough for Falrik Zaarkhun to breach him out of prison away from his master's eyes, urging him (with no success) to escape Borealis before the Corruptus conquered it. Murangon Nal was eventually confronted by Falrik and his clone upon the surface of the Corruptus Overworld of Nirosia, where he had a climatic battle that resulted in his 'death' by Zaarkhun's hands; he let his old friend know that, while he had fallen there, he would eventually return to life to fight another day.

Tantummodo Mortem

Murangon Nal, along with the rest of Shu'wokerama's servants, played a fundamental role in the formation of the Dominion of the Xhodocto, where he aided in uniting the demon armies of the defunct Cult of the Deathmarch, Mali'Nar and Xi'Arazulha together under the direct rule of the Xhodocto. Murangon Nal would join Gratz'kaoz in his fleet as part of the Blak Kroozade, where he was the mastermind behind the Corruptus demons in the fleet. Murangon was confronted by the Rogue Leedas and UNOC, and when asked the reason for his presence he stated he wanted to do nothing but cause destruction and test his leadership skills.

Murangon engaged the Rogue Leedas and UNOC in battle, and after a long fight, Murangon decided the fight was even and congratulated the teams. He then left the room they were fighting in and disappeared, ending the demons' participation in the Kroozade. Murangon Nal would later appear in the Realm of Dreams, being part of Shu'ytrogarva's attack force, where he forced the Onuris team to fight "dreamy" versions of Kalcedia Myran, Corteus and Tharaqím, as well as fought the team himself. After a long battle, Murangon was defeated by Agent Nu. Like previously, he congratulated his enemies and retreated before he could be finished off. Murangon Nal, alongside the other servants, later joined forces with the now-corrupted Arsac to assault on the Grand Cathedral of the Grand Inquisition, where he helped slay the Inner Circle and obtain information about the Reliquaries, with the main objective of discovering the Inquisition's secrets and finding the location of the Xhodocto Eye Terastia. When Kithworto's team attempted to reach Anazopyrosi, Murangon Nal and all other servants of Shu'wokerama tried to stop them, but were eventually defeated in combat and forced to retreat.

Characteristics

Genrai Nal Pic

Genrai Nal, as he appeared before his fall to demonhood

Appearance

Murangon Nal appears as a heavily deformed member of the Inalton race. His Klayik heritage already made him stand out among his kin, and his descension by the Corruptus' powers led him to become a fearsome sight indeed; with dull brown eyes, enormous claws, a ripped musculature and a scaled hide seemingly scorched in flames, the mere sight of Murangon Nal is said to send a shiver down the spines of lesser warriors. He is among the only followers of the Corruptus with enough endurance to withstand leaving his Corruptus Heart covered, in his case by an advanced suit of armor.

Personality

Murangon Nal is known for his incredible sense of loyalty, as well as for his love for combat; his emotions are stunted to the point the thrill of battle were the only thing that made him feel truly alive. His corruption by Nightmare Energy granted him renewed vigor, as well as enhanced his bloodlust, his cruelty and his malevolence to whole new levels in comparison to his mortal life. But even as a demon, Murangon Nal retains a sense of honor that he always upheld in his life; he seeks to face off the strongest of foes, and finds the killing of the weak or the innocent to be things he generally does not go out of his way to do. However, Murangon Nal abhors cowardice and trickery, and attempting to use these against him can cause to become truly enraged, at which point he will gleefully slaughter combatants and innocents alike.

Klayik

The Klayik are an elite, timeless breed. They are warriors who evolved near to their final stage, with near perfect genes. This results in rapid regeneration, immunity to aging, extremely strong and fast builds, as well as limited Dark Chronoscopic powers (which is a default for Chronoscopic organisms anyway). Genrai and Murangon are the last of this breed, the rest died of unknown reasons.

Relations

Allies

Blue faceFor the Devourer, indeed, for the best fights are on his side.

  • Shu'wokerama - I will never question you again, master.
    • Arrtkar Crowart - Quite a strong warrior. Quite.
    • Mahedore - One can only hope your oblivion resulted in some lessons learned.
    • Mordathai - A good warrior, but there is more he can learn to be greater. A true fighter does not rely on armies to lead, either.
    • Vouinas - Strong, maybe, but that does not make a fighter. It is all about speed and technique. This makes him somewhat problematic.
    • Geltastra - She can be just as strong and useful as she can be problematic and irritating.
    • Varugr - Your style of combat and reckless attitude make you unpleasant. But I will not question the master's decisions.
  • Cairaovén - Our sparring was a good one. We should do it more often.
  • High Inquisitor Arsac - Much devotion in that one. I believe she will make a fine co-worker.

Neutral

Yellow faceMy blades are not yet through you. Be thankful.

  • Genrai Nal - My clone. You are more than worthy of holding the name of Genrai Nal.

Enemies

Orange faceBefore your final gasp for air, grant me a worthy duel.

Quotes

Me and Genrai go way back, since probably before I was even born. He is, in my opinion, the greatest soldier ever.

- Falrik Zaarkhun

Another poor sap who thinks that bartering with demons leads to greater ends... The fool will learn the price of his mistake sooner or later

- High Inquisitor Arsac

War unending. An eternity of battle, blood, gore and death!'
