Bard comm background

Bard's communication background. Background wall color matches your creature's coat color.

Bards are the social, outgoing entertainers of the cosmos. The galaxy is their personal playground.

- In-game description

Alien species controlled by the computer with this archetype generally have the same personality as the Ecologist since they both are passive in nature and often do not attack other empires unless they are provoked. Computer controlled Bards always begin with a neutral relationship to the player and rarely demand tribute from them. As the game progresses, they become easier to ally and may value their relationship with the player's species by offering the player tribute.

Bard Unique Power[]

The Bard acquires the Soothing Song unique ability. Soothing Song can be used to temporarily boost your relation with an Empire. The ability sets the relationship to 0 and lasts for 2 minutes.

Through Mission[]

First you must ally with an empire following this philosophy with a strength factor of 4 or 5, then you may request to become 'like' them from the mission interface. After paying §10,000,000, the mission given is to collect 25 rare artifacts. Upon completion return to claim your reward and you will change your philosophy and associated archetype, losing your old superpower and gaining the Bard's Soothing Song power.

Note that you may not collect 25 artifacts and then automatically complete the mission upon its acceptance. You must accept and pay for the mission first, THEN collect 25 artifacts. However, if you drop an artifact that you currently own and pick it back up it will be counted, but this only works once.

Bard's Philosophy[]

"We, the Bard Empire are followers of the Philosophy of Chance! We don't march around aimlessly like an army of ants, nor do we all wear the same designer pants. Instead, we laugh and we sing and we all try to dance, while being very careful to not trample our plants.

Soon we will tell you what awaits you if you join us...

Rare[]

Main article: Blocks of Chance

The Bard's rare treasures are the Blocks of Chance. The combined value of the Blocks of Chance is $450,000. However, if you have all of them in your cargo hold at the same time, the set will sell for $4,500,000 instead. If you sell one of them to the Bards, then it will sell for $90,000, and if you have all of them in your cargo hold at the same time, the set will sell for $9,000,000.
